Our Newest Lecture Series:
Demonology: Understanding & Winning the Spiritual Battle
The study of the Church’s demonology is a part of basic catechism and Christian instruction. The Scriptures are replete with teaching on the dark powers. Additionally, it is impossible to appreciate the magnitude of the saving deeds of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, without understanding how He, and He alone, has conquered Satan and destroyed his works. Lastly, Christians are called to fight and win in the spiritual war, and for this reason, it is essential that believers understand their enemies and their tactics. Toward this end, Father Josiah presents in these lectures in-depth studies of the Scriptures, Divine Services, and pedagogy of great saints and teachers on the subject of Satan and spiritual battle.
Lecture titles include:
Lecture #1 Jesus and Satan
Lecture #2 Demonology in the Baptismal Rite and the Divine Liturgy
Lecture #3 Gaining Mastery of Satan: The Life of St. Anthony the Great
Lecture #4 How to Win the Spiritual Battle according to St. John of the Ladder
Lecture #5 Engaging the Unseen Warfare: Fr. Lorenzo Scupoli and St. Nicodemos of the Holy Mountain
Lecture #6 C. S. Lewis’ Screwtape Letters and Demonic Warfare in the 21st Century Falling West

I caught zealous seraphim in the wild!
Oh Lord Jesus Christ, son of God, please forgive me, for I am a sinner and before knowing you I lived in debauchery and led astray many women by sleeping with them outside of marriage. Doing so I also led myself astray. Please forgive me, please pray for me and the people of our times, for we are lost. Father have mercy on us.
We need to hear more talks from the Church on this topic. Western culture is so lost on this issue and we need to hear what the Church teaches or we are lost. Glory to Jesus Christ!
Thank you Father. I wish to keep learning and expanding. I asked God for growth and growing I am. Amen!
Really digging the subtle product placements 😂. Thank you Father for all you do
i've been raised in the Evangelical church, and never has there been a time when the pastor preached or talked about these things let alone talk about it.
for some reason it's very "taboo" and people don't like to talk about it, even though I would say that it's one of the most important things to talk about.
by ignoring such topics we do a major disservice to younger generations.
So thank you Father for a short but important lecture.
It is so refreshing to hear this. Thank you, Father. So many times Christians of different denominations despised me because I was telling them that physical love should have as a purpose bringing new life in world (ironically I knew people who were anti-ecumenists and who were more libertarian about sexual relationship than someone like me who is a little ecumenist). There were times when I started to doubt myself. And the fact that I am not in any form of a relationship with a woman it was another reason for these people to pity me for my "fanatical" views.
You are in Gods way. Chastity is like a precious diamond. Lust makes both the body and the soul stained. Doubt not, St Paul writes on these matters in a very clear way
You don’t want the physical part of marriage you mean ? Excuse me please. Blessings
Ps. I’m beyond child bearing years.
I dont want to get married. I finally realized that I am to live in complete chastity. Hopefully God will make me healthy enough to enter a consecrated life.
May it be blessed and God's will be done. 🙏
Thank you Father for this topic!
I went to our parish Priest last year for the marriage topic cause I'm married, but he said it was none of his business about the bedroom. I felt so stupid! I feel I can't really bring anything to confession now.
We have only been converts for 4 years now.
I'm so sorry that happened to you!
I gotta say. I find that merch plug endearing and makes me want to buy things out of sincerity rather than obligation. Well done Fr. In the internet age the way people push their products is a little forceful and blatant but that was funny and nice. Thank you for your thoughts today.
I also thank Fr. Josiah for his thoughts today. (I'm in the widower category.) But I have to confess I thought his subtle "advertising" was a little bit
cheesy.
@@georgerolfs9004 Better to be cheesy than forceful like a megachurch lol
Thank you Father for being so candid in this video.
Stop closing the comments! Excellent discussions to be had here
6:31 "...clergymen, Patriarchs, bishops, and priests who have completely abandoned traditional Christian ethics" I think those need to be named so that we could pray for them.
Thank you Father Josiah
Your blessing, Father. I'm pretty certain that you have said that you don't really have time to read the comments (which I completely understand:). But in the slight chance that you do, I thought I would send a comment in hopes that you might some day address a fifth type of chastity. It may actually be under the "marital chastity", though. It is rarely spoken of in the Church today, and NEVER outside of the Church (at least to my knowledge). That is chastity in marriage after childbearing years. Where the couple decide to live as brother and sister under the same roof, but not become actual monastics. Thank you for speaking on topics that are not frequently addressed -- and if they are, not in depth. Our goal(s) as Orthodox Christians should not be minimalistic-- like it is so often in the world. We need to reach higher and deeper in order to understand more fully the phronema of the Church-- only by God's grace, of course. I wonder if many couples even realize this is an option. It might not be for everyone, because it has to be a mutual decision. But maybe it could at least be addressed. Just a thought. Thank you again for your guidance, Father. May God grant you many, many years in the priesthood.🙏☦️
such a notion that marriage is for children not for the couple is contrary to Paul and fro, Augustine and the heretic Tertullian w fnostic baggage against the physical
Glory to God for all these videos. They are edifying and Fr Trenham you deliver the words in such a clear and calm way.
Many years to you and everyone in your ministry Fr Trenham. Glory to God ☦️🙏
Thanks father, this was inspiring.
Very helpful and edifying video I thank you
Loved your ad at the beginning…solid marketing 👍🏻
Awesome.
Fr. Josiah, ultimately this thread of thinking reduces to why do bad things happen to good people. Well, that's when the guardian angel has to go away. Most of the times, if not always, that happens due to sins against the Holy Ghost.
In Ro ansa PAul says that when God give up on someone He lets them continue racking up sin. So you run into one of these God forsaken people, thre is a problem you hav to drive him or her away, or hide or run or die.
Thank you Father Josiah and all PNP Staff. We pray for you. Does anyone know what has happened to the original Fall Conference on transhumanism?
I keep hearing all the dangers and disadvantages of getting married later in life. What advice would you give to those single in their 40s who have never been married, but have a desire to do so?
the best blessed videos
част!
To remain honorable in this Fallen World is a miracle in itself.
I wish to hear more couples finding each other at Church than at "the bar". Our Bar is the best bar bar none because our Bartenders serve the Best Drink in town... ;)
Let us also not forget the INCREDIBLE amount of sin committed in Abortions and the pathetic attempts to "rationalize" justifications for child murder in the name of temporal hedonistic/nihilistic lifestyles. This behavior has cheapened the Image of God.
Thank you father! At the end you were talking about the connection between pleasure and responsibility and how taking the pleasure without the responsibility is a non-Christian practice. So would that mean that the orthodox church is against the use of contraceptives?
God most definitely disapproves of 'spilling of seed' (Onan) which covers barrier methods of contraception, and chemical methods (pharmakeia) Gal 5:20. Of course Orthodoxy disapproves! But we are not a rules based religion. Everything we do must come from our love of God. Remember, you can still be a great sinner and refuse to use contraception, because you do it with an enormous sense of self-worth and pride and scorn for those who do use it. Such a person is surely further from God than a couple who continually struggle with marital chastity but are in constant confession and a slow, painful journey of repentance for their sins.
All kind of contraceptives are fightingh against the Lord law ...grow and multiply.
ALL contraceptives provoke abortions. They DO NOT stop conception. So I would say that both Catholic Church and Orthodox Church are 100% against it.
@@gillianc6514yes, totally. And that includes only having sex on Tuesdays for marital couples, as per the canons. Preach, brother, preach!
Yes, the Orthodox Church is against contraception, however economia can be granted in rare circumstances to be blessed by the married couple's spiritual father. It would probably be NFP.
Father, firstly, I thank you for leading my thoughts and morality by your contents. Secondly, i wanted to bring to your kind attention a matter of which ive been struggling lately. I am so new to Christianity and my partner and I have been living together for 4 years. She is Buddhist and Im was a non-bleaiver, ex atheist whom just turned to God. How can I bless our relationship?
I pray and hope that Catholic and Orthodox churches will one day get back together ⚓️🙏🏻🕊️
Sadly not possible as Rome departed and continued its drift away from the Church.
@@LadyMaria Not really true, however requires a lot of history study and realizing that Holy Spirit leads His Church and succession of Peter has been kept in place. God bless us both, let's strive for heaven 🙏🏻
@@LadyMaria You're wrong yet again.

Shameless promoting 😂. And thank you for your words.
Could you elaborate on what you mean by how it is extremely dangerous for someone to wait even after their youth to marry?
I think Fr. Josiah means one can fall into temptations, give in to them, have children outside of wedlock, etc.
@@LadyMaria I suppose you are correct. I do have these temptations but I feel I must stay celibate for now due to the nature of my work (I often must leave for great periods of time). Thank you!
@@mingus445_gamingWell if you're single then you have to be celibate.

@@LadyMaria No, there not.
@@Mr.SLovesTheSacredHeartofJesusThey absolutely are. This is an Orthodox channel, fyi.
Fr bless, can tou expand on this? Maybe it wouldn't be appropriate for RUclips, but what exactly is blessed in the marriage bed? Today so many people have been told "kinks" and other things are permissible. Are they within marriage? I have asked many priests about these things and they usually avoid it and say something like "just make sure it's out of love." I'm sure many people especially converts would like a bit more specificity as it is hard to find that information spoken about.
there arent any "kinks" done out of love, they're all shame, perverse and power based. the bed is for love, a love that creates children and allows two people to become one. thats it.
So converts who were previously divorced with no Holy Mysteries of marriage, they are treated as widows and widowers?
Father, may i ask you to make a video for orphans?
lol Nice product placement!
A fifth type: divine chastity. Worship God alone.
Well said!
Who’s wife will she be?
Creative advertising Father. Who knew you had a comedic side? 😂
Haha, it's funny every time! Almost makes me want to buy one of those mugs...
The mug isn't for sale! I wish!!! They gave them out as part of a fundraiser for the audio Psalter.
Will the Fall PNP conference be recorded and then become available for purchasing at the PNP website?
Thank you Father for this video. Regarding your last point about childbearing, would you then say that contraceptives are sinful? If they are, would you also consider NFP sinful since the couple isn't necessarily coming together when they love each other but rather when it is least likely to result in conception? I hope I worded that question alright
You said it! Isn t it funny how we ask questions but we allready know the answers in our heart yet we ask them hoping to get another answer that we would like better. God bless!
ALL contraceptives provoke abortion. They DO NOT stop conception. So this is one of the biggest sins of the society of today.
Of course they're coming together when they love each other even if avoiding the narrow time for conception via NFP. That's kinda odd to assert that they aren't. They abstain for about 5 days, which isn't a long time. We as Orthodox Christians fast for about 180 days a year in abstaining from animal products, and marital relations (though some couples might have economia there as they are weak, but this is the akrievia that on fast days and seasons there are no marital relations).
Anyway, NFP and non-abortifacient contraception is a matter between the couple, their spiritual father and God. It is an economia if granted.
@@sfappetrupavelandreiActually, with non-abortifacient forms, some make the woman's pH hostile to sperm and k1ll them all off in a couple hours like the woman's body does naturally when not in a fertile cycle (it takes awhile for sperm to travel to the fallopian tube, so without "food" they d1e, and when the environment is acidic, no "food"). So there's no fertilization much less conception which takes place 1.5 weeks after fertilization and much can go wrong naturally.
Other forms stop ovulation completely. When that happens there are no 1,000 follicles released to mature in the ovary, only one becoming a mature egg per month. So there is no egg.
These would be permissable in some jurisdictions if blessed by the spiritual father to use for the married couple.
That all said, I'm not one who advocates for contraception as it is very damaging to the woman's body and should be avoided at all costs, even if only used for PCOS or something like that. Also, I believe we must be open to life without artificial barriers. NFP should be the only thing allowed in economia for this as it requires fasting and not giving into urges. But this too must be blessed by one's spiritual father.
@@LadyMaria regarding your first paragraph, I guess I worded that poorly. When we abstain during fasting seasons it is to bring us closer to God. But that's not the point of NFP. Although they're still coming together in love, they specifically avoid days that gives the smallest chance of conception, which is 50% of the point of sex

I'm really new to religion, but the concept of re-marriage is very strange to me. Imagine going to heaven and having two wives there.
There wouldn't be two. In Holy Orthodoxy, we only have one marriage that is a Holy Mystery (Sacrament) even if one is widowed. Anything else is called a penitential marriage and is not a Holy Mystery. So, the marital bond would not last beyond death there as it was a marriage contracted for earthly reasons, like inability to stay chaste as a widower (though that isn't a great reason to remarry), or not having had children with one's spouse before s/he reposed, or needing a mother or father figure for his or her children after the repose of a spouse. It would be something that one's spiritual father would give a blessing or not.
Jesus said there is no marriage in the resuurection presumably not in heaven either@@LadyMaria
@@infowolf1I'll go with the Church's illumined interpretation inspired by the Holy Spirit over yours.
@@LadyMaria its not my inter[retation its Jesus; words in answer to a question to which of her several husbands would a woman belong in the resurrection?
some church idesd in fact track to speculations or baggage of soe .individual saints, not the aposltes or Jesus.
Thank you for the answer@@LadyMaria. Still, I have another question. So basically you can only have one partner in heaven, but what avout the other? In heaven your second spouse is not married to you?
