This is the profession I am just getting into. Everything that this lady was saying about "Its all about the Heart" is exactly how I feel. I hope to help a lot of families through the work that I will do with their love ones.
I commend anyone that does this. As a hospice worker, I've seen a lot of death. It takes its toll after a while, but you remember why you're there and the lives that you touch and you keep going.
I'm interested in working in that field (hospice). Please let me know what type of credentials I will need to become a hospice worker. I know RN's come I believe during the night but I'm thinking it could possibly be a medical assistant that works during the morning hours. Your feedback would be very appreciated. Oh & yes you are very much appreciated dealing with families & their love ones at a time such as that. It takes a passionate, patient, understanding, and love for people to be able to do the work that you do.

Good that she likes what she does but I could never ever do anything like that. Death to me is so scary and sad and just terrible. I could never look at dead bodies like that and not be upset and freaked out. You definitely have to be a certain kind of person for that job and this was a video that was recommended for me which is the only reason why I watched it, still don't know what that was?

I guess it's one of those things where each of us were made to do something important. It's just a matter of making sure we're matched up properly. :^)

But many do not believe in an afterlife and those that do disagree about what happens. What point is there to taking care of one's body when it just becomes like this in the end anyway? What point is there to anything in life when it all ends like this?
Luke Tieppo I am sorry but the dead do not look at peace, or like they are sleeping. They just look like "shells" if that makes any sense. You know I died once. And I remember the experience. There was peace there where I was, but instead of taking away all fear of death and knowing that beyond the door there is peace, that NDE of mine had the opposite effect, in the fact that it has made me more anxious about death.
I don't understand what she means when she says I don't think I've ever been afraid of death which is perhaps unaffected being in the industry. That confuses me wouldn't not being afraid of death be a good thing for working in that business?
She says it is "perhaps an effect of being in the industry", meaning that her job and facing death every day has given her a more pragmatic outlook on life and death. Basically what you're saying is the same thing she said, you just misheard her words.

It all depends on many variables. In my state, a funeral director is also an embalmer - there is one license for both at the same time. Since I'm licensed, I both do the embalming / cosmetics as well as run the actual funerals. For you, your state may have separate licenses. If so, then you can become a funeral director and do arrangements and run funerals without the embalming aspects. Of course, if you live in a dual license state (like mine), you *might* be able to find an employer who would allow you to work in the front room only. That wouldn't be likely though.

To me, publicly posting my comments on RUclips videos is somewhat therapeutic. Because I'm certain my adversaries read my comments. I know what it feels to age, I know what it feels to mature, and realize the important things about life. I realize why perhaps some people are vindictive towards others. Not all vindictive people have experienced hardships, nor painful losses, etc... I've said this before, an atheist will agree with me when I say: "after you take your last breath, the party is over, lights out", but an atheist has a different perspective. No it isn't, she was not embalming anyone. Embalming is replacing the blood with an embalming fluid to help preserve the body. She was simply cleaning and grooming them.
