Quel suo calare nel personaggio romantico di Werther ci offre eleganza di canto anche in questa incisione con l'indimenticabile voce celestiale della Caballe ed è una vera passione per la malinconia del giovane Werther -Di Stefano!

These two sound wonderful together. Montserrat Caballe has been my favorite soprano for a number of years. I must listen to more of DiStefano as he has a beautiful voice. Only 7 people have listened to it? I'm surprised that anyone would not like it.

Perhaps because di Stefano's voice was in pretty bad shape by then? He sang Des Grieux much better at the beginning of his career, as can be heard in live recordings from 1948 and 1951.

La verdad es que el joven Werther aquí no suena joven, ni creíble, no expresa ni tristeza, ni melancolía, solo una especie de pasión a la que la voz a duras penas acompaña. Caballé no tenía un flancés tan elegante y sutil como Victoria, pero en aquellos años simplemente cantaba de maravilla.
