I love listening to your common sense and humor on your tube channel I’m grieving for my husband who passed away recently, I need the message, Thank you Father Joe…….
Maybe another thought about the positive advantages of Synodality...I am so sorry that our truly overburdened priests couldn't delegate tasks of Synodality allowing parishioners to share with one another their thoughts about how they perceive some needed changes could come about. I do appreciate your podcasts and homilies, Fr. Joe. Thank you for reading this. Blessings, Lucia
Communion rails really zip that line along. Just saying. I attended an Anglican Use Roman Catholic Church for many years and the priest and deacon could give Communion fairly quickly to a large attendance (about one hundred).
24:08: How do you respond to TLM. . . . Novus ordo is not reverent enough? “I constantly, constantly hear the TLMers talking about reverence. I rarely see them exercise it outside of Mass. If you have great reverence for the Eucharist, and you treat people like crap, I don’t believe you. I don’t think that reverence is doing anything for you. . . . every group has reasons to be criticized justly. That’s yours! You’re the worst witnesses usually, because you’re mean, and you can’t celebrate your Mass without crapping on the other one, and I think there’s something to be said for that. . . . “Your reverence doesn’t seem to be making you any better. Seems to be making you angrier, more bitter! If I see the fruits of the Spirit, then I buy it. I see the fruits of the Spirit here at Holy Family. We don’t do TLM. . . . We’re growing.” Thank you so much for this.
Fr. Joe, I am a 'boomer' I was in grade school when the changes in the Mass rolled out. I vividly remember the first Mass with the priest facing the people. I was in the third or fourth grade. I remember trying to follow Mass with my Mom's missal, and being very bored. I believe the change from Latin to English occurred when I was in the 6th grade-1967. I was overjoyed!. I Rember being told that these changes harkened back to the early church, when the early Christians celebrated together, as a community. I attended a a wedding that was within a 'TLM' a couple of months ago with a friend. The celebrant gave a brief explanation for those of us that had a vague memory of a TLM or none at all. To me, that boiled down to "sit back and enjoy the show'. If one attempting reading a missal to try to keep up, that is not true participation, so it's hard for this nearly 70yr old mind to wrap my head around the appeal. But, a as you say, it's a 'you do you situation. I really enjoy your show. You give.me.pause to re-thinm how I respond to.sotuations. I love the last part of your prayer at the end of your shows.
