Diesel are different cold starters than gas engines. When it’s super cold. The diesel will struggle to ignite so the engine will struggle. Also thicker oil can prevent the HPOP from firing the injectors and makes the engine harder to crank over. Diesels when they are cold tend to be harder to start than gasoline engines to a point obviously.
