LA City Limits was a plane flown by Chico Freeman, I believe of VF-17. VF-17 was "the Jolly Rogers" and the flew the skull and crossbones on the cowl. You have skull and bones on the tail, it just needs to move to the cowl. I realize your plane, your way. I lack the experience and talent, you obviously have. Beautiful F4U Corsair.

I was on the fence with this one for a long time. Was not able to makeup my mind between the H9 and the TF Corsair. Watching you build the TF ARF with the choice of FG60 has given me the courage to take the plunge. I just placed my order with Tower. I can’t wait to see your maiden. I hope it will fly and sound as good as the TF P47 did with the FG60. Good luck on your maiden!

Thanks for the nice comments. Glad i was able to help you with your choice in some small way.
I'm pretty sure you made the right choice, Top Flite planes are well made and fly just fine right out of the box.
And by that i mean, no major retrofitting of parts to get
things square and true. I've built, many stick planes in my day, which is fun and gratifying for sure when you have the time. But these ARF's are just getting better and better.
And Top Flite has always been at the top of their game.
Many say with these ARF's. They are not built but , they are assembled.
( which i don't agree with) Many hours are put into these ARFs. If you take as much pride on the inside build, as the manufacturer took on the outside build.
You will have many years of enjoyment with you purchase.
I've seen way to many planes go to their death , and only to be blamed on a glitch or a part failure. Never on the person building it.
And i mean multi year projects and ARF's as well
Remember, These are not toys, They are 20, 30, 40 pound flying machines, and you are only putting your fellow modelers and yourself and bystanders at risk by not
      doing your due diligence.
Take your time, Check things over three times if you feel the need, And never be intimidated to do your maiden until your 110% ready.
Top Flite gives you the best bang for the Buck for sure. And Satio make a wonderful product as well, as long as you play by their rules. Break in and oil content etc, etc.
Best of luck with yours. and i will be waiting for your maiden as well. Have a Safe and Great 2018 flying season.

VERY cool aircraft, full of details, but I gotta ask. Given the depth of all of the other fiddly bits, Articulating the pilot head, full cockpit detail, retractable tail gear etc, why no panel lines and rivets? Or did you have enough of the small details at that point? Seems with the depth of detail on this model you would included them, although they ARE a whole lotta work. ;)

Built it over the winter with a few other projects. I never really keep track. If I would have to guess, I would say the entire building was between 30 to 40 hours.

Hi knockoffs, Did you have to do any lightening work to get to the 24.5 lbs all up weight. Also is the cowl stock? Seems like there is a little bit of a color mismatch maybe it is just the lighting.

    • @knockoffs
      @knockoffs  6 лет назад +2

Built as is, Nothing done to trim off any fat., Cowl was as it came from Tower Hobbies. May be off a little in color.

16 oz of thinned out 20 min epoxy with denatured alcohol. makes the entire structure tight and right.
