Behold, the adorable offspring of the majestic Big Bird Gremlin Demon Owl. It may not be the most elegant of creatures, but it is, however, the most adorable of muppets...
If you get another one of these i recommend using plastic utensils because their tongues and the lining in their mouth is so thin like tissue paper you can actually damage their mouth with metal you would have seen how fragile his little tongue is :)
Funny you should say this. I was about to suggest wooden chopsticks. Those metal tweezers make me cringe every time. Scrape the gullet? Get infected? Don't want that.
Hello. I sent it to wild life carer and highly suspect it would have gone well. I can't tell you for sure though. Baby birds require so much care as you would have experienced :-)
This was of interest to me. Almost two decades ago I thought I had a baby frogmouth, broken wing, on the ground, cat attack maybe. I had fun popping food into it's wide open mouth cos it would open wide when I peeked in the box ,, I had the food on end of an ice cream stick,, . Took it to our world famous Healesville Sanctuary the next day . Fella at the desk thought it might be a starling but humoured me and added it's hard to tell when they're so small . Starlings aren't Australian native , so....... but some months later a world first was announced from the sanctuary ; one of their vets had successfully mended the broken wings of the tiny local bats . I connected some dots in my own mind .
Great. The proeblem with baby birds is'nt the handrearing. But the ralease part....most baby birds rescue stories end with the obligatory " Until it eventually flew away" Allowing for all to feel happy for a succes story. The problem is birds learn to feed themselves and aspects of survival by watching their parents. Although a lot of it is instinctual they do need lessons that only their parent an teach. When my fledge birds flew away I always wondered if they where equiped eneugh to survive.
I sent it to a wildlife carer. I can't tell you for certain how it went. However, I'm fairly certain it thrived and would have been released back into the wild.
It is a lovely Tawny Frogmouth. So named because it blends in with the tree colour and is difficult to see when it matures. Sometimes the only give away is its blink, showing its yellow eyes.
Yes .today I've found one egg .and I'm seeing thing Bird for first time.but I don't know what food can I give him when he hatch.the egg is darken and a little crack.please help me
These are probably like nightjars where they nest on the ground so when you think they fell out of a tree you are wrong they start on the ground, i could be wrong about frog mouths but they sure look related
Full grown ones that are strong and healthy can't even cause pain to human fingers , I doubt this baby would even be able to cause enough pressure to be an annoyance.
I wouldn't take a cockroach to a 'vet' who can't spell 'tawny', also pets a wild creature, and calls it a wild birdy-boo. Childish, unprofessional, and teaching horrible wildlife care.
*jams finger down throat* "it's so precious"
They sometimes need assistance in swallowing.
235 likes and one comment? lemme fix that
That's what mother birds do

Oh, but she's a 'vet'!
that’s why they use finger to help it swallow i guess
She could so easily stab or tear the baby birds inside with those sharp tweezers...common SENSE VET?

It’s only a baby so it needs to eat mush anyways
These are probably like nightjars where they nest on the ground so when you think they fell out of a tree you are wrong they start on the ground, i could be wrong about frog mouths but they sure look related

FFS😔
Probably a typo, but a spelling test for picking a vet...
