Honestly I’ve always wondered how ancient armies with swords and spears would go up against modern guns and tanks. Honestly when the thunderous machine guns start firing and people start to fall out of nowhere and fire rains down from the heavens, aka missiles, they would run in terror.
The one technology that is beyond us is the gate itself, shut that down and the JDF is trapped and under seige. But that's sort of like asking the Professor to patch the hole in the Minnow, you just don't go there.
Maybe there is a new species that is super barbaric and reproduce extremely fast (like arachnids), then Japan asked usa for help and nuked the entire population

Those weren't C-17s, they were Japans own stuff, C-17s have four engines, but I see where you would think it's a C-17. It seems to be a Japanese C-2 instead, if you just search C-2 you'll get the Greyhound, so put japanese before it.

The manga and anime are completely different when it came to the portrayal of the viseral horrors of Modern vs Medivel. Where the manga portrayed the gore, violence and inhuman sides of the Gate series in realistic fashions, the anime went completely PG-13 and took out all of that and even shying away from showing blood, for better or for worse.

I imagine if magic was more utilized in the medieval armies they mightve at least given the JSDF a much harder time. But sadly for them, they never did, and paid the price in lots of shredded soldiers.
They did use magic but if a mage that is casting a barrier takes too many hits he can die mentally mostly they just drop passed out but if enough force is applied rapidly like a tank shell the mages head will literally explode

the asid for a minute but the anime in the start on the attack on earth is in all accounts extremely accurate, civelians fleeing, cops scared but being brave and soldiers kicking ass, now video asid the song is perfect for what happens in the anime afteral one side is domminating in all accounts one side isnt but they fight on (unwillingly yes but they are soldiers) now add them togeather and just pure bliss.

No official announcement and not surprising since A1 studios has been busy working on SAO. Speculation though predicts 2020 or 2021.
