    Ur content never fails to amaze me. With the dip cleans , I’m cheating a bit by bending forward to slide the bar down a slight bit and then jumping up and essentially making it a very high hang clean. How can I fix this to make it a true dip / hip clean , any cues ?

    I have some real big problems with my snatch technique... I look really weird when I go down in the squat position after bringing the weight above my head, most likely because I place my feet to wide with the short jump that comes with it... Could you name some tips how to avoid this really aesthetically unpleasing mistake? That would really help me out...

    Could you make a video about how to safely add weight over time? Ive been using an empty bar for 3 weeks because Im pretty sure I would crash at 40kg. And I couldn't find any guides on how add weight safely. So I have no idea how fast the linear progression should be, for oly lifts. Thanks!

    • @alexanderheyworth3242
      @alexanderheyworth3242 2 года назад

      I don't know if you still need an answer to this question, but as a beginner you really need to start with very small jumps, especially in the snatch. Most beginners would need to start with around 30kg as their top snatch weight, and build up to that over 10-11 increments in a session. That means you cannot do without a set of Olympic change plates, which go from 0.5kg to 2.5kg in 0.5kg increments, plus a pair of 5kg weights. You would lift something like 20 x 3 x3 (sets/reps), 22 x 3, 24 x 2, 26 x 2, 28 x 2 x 1, 30 x 4-5 x 1. It is much better to groove the technique with weights you can confidently handle before (long before!) you start more challenging weight.

    • @NormanZealandMalana
      @NormanZealandMalana 2 года назад

      @@alexanderheyworth3242 Thanks for replying! My technique is much better now! And have been able to add 2.5kg every week or two, for a while now. Next week, I should be able to snatch 70. I very rarely miss lifts now, and know how to miss safely. My clean and jerk is 10-15 kg above the snatch set, usually, which I think is fine.

  • @remoc52357
    @remoc52357 4 года назад

    I'm a little confused. When your showing the drillers your hand position on the bar is about shoulder width apart. That was how I was taught to lift. When you show the actual lift your hands are so much farther apart. Is it not difficult in competition to get confused? The pressure would make me screw that up.

    It might sound as super stupib question, but why do oly lifters tape theyr thumbs? Does it help the grip, or supports the thumb? And, would it be beneficial for deadlifts?

    • @iansfunvids
      @iansfunvids 4 года назад

      Oly lifters use a hook grip. I have a weak grip. I have been using a normal grip for years on just weight training. Started Oly not long ago it's tough at 1st to use a hook grip on the thumb and to be able to hold the weight but over time it's getting better for me. You will not be able to hold as much with a normal grip compared to hook grip I feel.

    • @kennethsteelhammer
      @kennethsteelhammer 4 года назад

      Demoncore- I´ve only practiced hook grip once or twice in deadlifts. Sounds like a good idea to tape your thumbs because hook grip hurts:)
      The only problem is that it´s not allowed to use tape in powerlifting meets.

    • @demoncore5342
      @demoncore5342 4 года назад

      Thanks for info guys, so only use for the tape would be in training using hook grip... hook grip it self is ok in competition I assume.
