Love how chilled you are! I've made molds before, doing it the long way with multiple layers and a lot of wastage, your food-container-tape idea is genius
Not sure if you are still checking for comments, but this is a great video. I'm just starting to get into mold making for polymer clay pieces. Your video is very helpful. Thank you for posting.
I just bought a kit and the instructions were very confusing. I'm glad your video was the 1st one to come up when I googles DIY silicone molds. Thank you very much. It doesn't seem so scary now! lol
You deserve way more views and likes, this is the easiest and most direct and honest tutorial for making resin moulds, thank you so much for uploading your awesome! 😀Keep up the great work

Really helpful and relaxing video! I’m learning to do resin pieces and now want to make my own molds. This video was really easy to understand and follow 😊so glad I found your channel ❤️
Oh you made it look so easy, I am going to give it a try. I might not be able to get the exact ingredients as I am in South Africa and we have other brands (I hope), but I am most definitely making my own. I am forever buying moulds.
gurl thats incredible, now to start my school business i just need the ducks and moulds and resin and drill and those tiny metal thingy to make them a keychain
HELLO . THIS VIDEO IS VERY GOOD . I ENJOYED WATCHING IT AND ITS WAS MADE TO WATCH IN SIMPLE TERMS AND EASY TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS FOR US BEGINNERS . THANKYOU . GREAT JOB , GREAT VIDEO . !!!!!! HAPPY POURING TO YOU / RESIN . ENJOYED .
This may be an old video but thank you very much. You made it very easy to understand and showed the process. Thanks for the tip about the tape and a container!
Many many many thanks for your beautiful, creative vedeo. It's really very helpful for all of us like me ,a new beginner. I'm from India. Thank you again.
WOW!! Thank you so much for this! You're awesome - such a great job and you completely took the fear out of my wanting to attempt this. Subscribing to your channel!
Looks awesome! Thanks for sharing this video & great outcome too. Question; can you; 1. Use these molds for materials like (especially) cement or even that plaster material? & 2. Do you have a video on how to make silicon moulds for 3D pieces, (eg. ones without a flat back) like horse sculptures or other animals & flowers etc & if so or you have a video on the method used for making moulds for these types of sculptures that’d be hugely appreciated if you can share them! N.K :D
NicKullenNiksharStud if you want to learn how to make molds for 3D objects without a flat back you should look up "two-part molds" and start from there. If you're molding with silicone you'll either have to brush it on and work in thin layers, then add a support shell, or you can pour each side like a block, using a clay wall (but that wastes a lot of product). The pieces will need to be "keyed" in so they lock together. It's much easier to learn by watching, most consumer level silicone manufacturers have instructional tutorials on their RUclipss.
My parents used to make molds in the 70's. The smell was exactly like ammonia. Has the smell improved? I would love to make my own.. But I get migraines from chemical smells. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much for this video! May I ask what kind of polishing compound you use to keep the mold shiny? If you need to shine up the pieces that you make would the same compound work for those as well (resin for instance)?
Thank you for sharing! The shine compound you’re talking about, would you use if for the inside of the mold, or do you rub it onto the resin pieces that are popped out from the mold?
Nice mold; now I have a question: what material can you use to cast your pieces into that mold? I mean, should you use a hard resin or can you get away with flexible silicone again.I'm thinking about making a smartphone hard case or a rubber flexible one...
I loved the video & you gave me great idea for making my own silicone molds- although I know I will have to check to make sure that the silicone I choose to use is ok for using for products that are going to be consumed by ppl, cause Im going to make edibles! Thanks its going to be cheaper in the long run, instead of keep buying them! And yes its very satisfying taking them out of the molds! 😊😊😝
I was wondering the same thing as to whether making these molds would be safe for making edibles. Anybody know? I love the video and looking forward to trying this simple method.
You can find info on food grade silicon on manufacturers websites, or you can CALL their tech support. Some of the people on tech support are really sharp. When you find one marked “food safe,” please share-the names and sources of the products. Other people would like to do similar projects, Im sure.
CraftyLefty Thanks so much, that definitely makes it worth the price. I will be molding gems of various sizes so my molds would be about the size you made in this video.
OMG! This is so beautiful. You are so sweet to share this tutorial, the best I’ve ever watched on RUclips. Looking forward to start my own moulding. Thanks so much.
what kind of elements are you using? are the plastic beads or glass? love how you make your molds I am going to give this a try for sure. can you buy the pouring mold outher places besides on line?
I know this video is a year old but I love your moons and stars!!! Do you have to buy a mold, make several resin pieces (moons and stars) then make your mold from them? Thanks!! 😃❤️

Is this silicone food safe? You made it look so simple. Thank for sharing.
I don't believe it is, but I don't use my molds for food, so it's not something I look for.

I know this video is a year old but I love your moons and stars!!! Do you have to buy a mold, make several resin pieces (moons and stars) then make your mold from them?
Thanks!! 😃❤️
Buried Truth Is a Seed I am wondering the same ! Did you ever get a response?!
Ash Co No, I didn’t. Sorry. 🤷♀️
What is the 'polishing compound' that can be used to make a silicone mold shiny again so the castings come out shiny and not dull?
Thank you so much! I didn’t realize you could make your own molds!
Where do get you piece’s to put in the molds. Is it a resin?
Wonderful result ❤👍
