San Diego got what the deserved. They rejected the stadium referendum the owner had no choice. St Louis tried hard to keep his team but the owner just wanted to move anyways.
no one in san diego gives a shit about the chargers! its people that live in shit hole cities around san diego county that were stupid enough to like them!
What other sports relocations ended up being disasters? Any other Sports lists you want us to do? Let us know in the comment section and we will credit you in the video if your idea is picked. ****NOTE Just because your team is not on a list doesn't mean we hate them or take sides. Sports in general if you haven't already noticed is opinion based. Your opinion is different then mine and our opinion may be different than yours, we can't make every teams fanbase happy. it's literally impossible. So we apologize to any BUTTHURT fan out there. Trust me there is more to life than to care to gonna pick on your favorite team, we are just trying to provide great content to sports fans.
During the Titans move to TN, they were planned to stay in Memphis a year, but attendance was poor because everyone knew the team would be leaving for Nashville. Memphis wanted a football team of its own, but borrowing one didn't fly too well.
Elias Hegstam The Jacksonville Jaguars and Carolina Panthers both reached their respective Conference Championship Games in their 2nd season of existence. The Milwaukee Bucks and Arizona Diamondbacks won championships early in their existences as well.
They bent over backwards for the Coyotes, since to move them would be an admitted failure by the NHL who took over the team in the Phoenix area. The Thrashers who had fair attendance but a horrible ownership group were given but only one month to find a local buyer (which it appears the ownership partners rigged to prevent someone local from buying the team), and the NHL was okay with the move. Atlanta got denied a team. It stinks, since this metro could definitely do well in the NHL. It has nearly 6 million people, around 1,000,000 northern transplants. There is NO WAY Nashville can support an NHL team and not Atlanta, when Atlanta is almost four times larger.
Atlanta was never last in attendance. NY Islanders, Chicago, Arizona, Florida, and a number of others had lower attendance. I guess they should be out of the league, too? You must understand that in both stints with the NHL, neither team moved because of a lack of fan support. I know this is usually the case with many franchises when they move, but that is not so with the Flames or the Thrashers. With the Flames, Tom Cousins, who owned the team, had financial issues relating to his real estate holdings, and I believe that he sold the team because of this. With the Thrashers, from the time the team was sold to Atlanta Spirit Group, the team was not supported. The ownership group was involved in a lawsuit between each other, with many of the owners never wanting to own a hockey team, but were forced to because of the package of the Thrashers, Hawks, and rights to Philips Arena.
Thrashed averaged 13,500k at Home during the 2011 final season. Not real bad for a lame duck franchise that everyone knew were gone. The Atlanta Spirit Group were nothing more than a group of dufus's that were only interested in suing each other. For years they held the city and Thrashers hostage.
Sports Games Alexandre Daigle and Patrik Stefan were both much worse than DiPietro. DiPietro was a decent goalie, but his career was ruined by injuries. Stefan was a 0.4 point per game player who's best known for slipping and missing an empty net on a breakaway like an idiot which led to the other team tying the game up, and Daigle was a 0.5 point per game player who's best known for his cocky comment at the draft, "I'm glad I was picked first overall, because no one remembers number 2", when that number 2 turned out to be Chris Pronger.
To all asking about the Raiders relocation update to Vegas, well it doesn't look like it's going to happen because one of the investors pulled out his money for the stadium. Meaning Mark Davis would have to shell out billions. So yeah we will always be the *Oakland Raiders*
Aang when he realizes Firebending is kinda good too Unfortunately, some douchebag in Oakland (whose only association with the Raiders is as a fan) trademarked the "San Antonio Raiders" phrase that would have most likely forced the Raiders to change their name had they moved to San Antonio. Plus, Bob McNair, and especially Jerry Jones effectively have the entire state of Texas monopolized in the NFL, so they will likely do anything they can to block any proposed NFL franchise in the San Antonio market (whether via relocation or expansion).
Aang when he realizes Firebending is kinda good too please send them back to san Antonio or back to LA. I live in vegas an definitely do not NOTTTT WANT them our here in VEGAS. Any other team but them
In your video "10 sports relocations that were for the better" you guys said that the move to Colorado by the Nordiques was a good choice. You guys contradict yourselves constantly.
Paolo Fonseca I think it was a good move they were fighting attendance issues and did not have a lot of fans coming in a lot of their fan base is from LA so it makes sense they went there so the Rams didn't take them all
Joe Hrubetz not true, I read somewhere that only 25% of their season ticket holders are from LA. The rest are in SD. Only reason fans aren't showing up in sd, is because of poor seasons.
Paolo Fonseca yeah but that's still about 17000 fans and that's just season tickets not all tickets and the chargers had LA as a home for TV too so now they get the Rams instead but I'm not saying it was a great move but it was not completely terrible
as a KC native Ill say this...WE ARE NOT AN NHL TOWN...hockey would die within 5 years if it came here..had the Kings stayed in KC, they would have gotten the fan base they needed. If the NBA came to KC now, it would flourish like it has in OKC
You should of had the Chargers moved to L.A on this list. L.A, should've taken back the Raiders and the Chargers should've stayed in San Diego! Hey Justin Fraction! Where you at? How bout top 10 sports cheaters for a list!
You guys had Quebec to Colorado as one of the best relocations & now its one of the worst? Real thorough work guys, you need to start relocating some of your staff
This video was made in 2017, and I don’t want to offend any NFL fans. However as of 2018, I can see why many NFL teams have relocated recently, and I am going to hypothesize where some of these teams should relocate and how they should be renamed just for fun while ignoring NCAA football’s popularity. (All teams remain in their current divisions as of 2018.) 1. St. Louis Rams-St. Louis simply lacked a major football fanbase. I would have loved to see an attempt at relocating the Rams to Birmingham, Alabama. Change the name of the franchise to The Alabama Barbed Wire. 2, 3, and 4. Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Miami Dolphins-Jacksonville, Tampa, and Miami have decent fanbases. However, the state of Florida is so divided by the 3 NFL teams within its boarders that the fanbases are not growing fast enough. Consequently, all three teams in Florida are suffering. Having only one team in a centralized location could unify a much larger fanbase. I think that single team should be in Orlando, Florida. The Miami Dolphins would relocate to Orlando, adopting the name The Florida Dolphins. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers would relocate to Charleston, South Carolina, becoming the Carolina Buccaneers. The Jacksonville Jaguars would relocate to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, becoming the Oklahoma Stampede. 5. The San Diego Chargers move to to Los Angeles (like they already have), becoming the California Chargers. 6. The Oakland Raiders move to Las Vegas (like planned), becoming the Nevada Raiders. I believe in making the state involved in the name of each team, not just the city. Having the state name attracts more fans within the state, not just the city. This is not perfect, and it is open to criticism. However, I think it would be better than what is now in place.
I'm not really sure why you put the Raiders on there other than the reason that you said they move too often (only twice between the same 2 cities) but ok. I think Oakland and LA are both successful places for them and always have had a large fan base in both places
zane Phillips I meant good Teams that never win their division, (I don't know if Charlotte is a good team that doesn't win their division I'm just saying)
Charlotte to New Orleans was an awful move. They moved from basketball mad North Carolina (where they led the league in attendance six years in a row) to a city that doesn't give two hoots about basketball.
The Rams also played in Cleveland from 1946-49...The Chicago-St. Louis-Arizona Cardinals, lost only Super Bowll apperance and only NFL Chamionship was a default and still lost to the Pottsville Maroons...
Robert West the Cardinals won the NFL championship in 1947 against the Eagles. and because the Cubs won the world series, the Cardinals now hold the longest active championship drought in North American sports.
I know it's probably a stretch to make the bottom part of this list, but I feel like both the Jazz and Kings have awesome turn-out. And the play-off atmosphere in both locations is electric.
Um... The Barons shown in the pictures aren't the Barons you were talking about. The Barons shown in the pictures were the AHL affiliates for the San Jose Sharks from 2001-2006. The Barons you were talking about were from the 70's, back when the Sharks didn't exist yet.
Nah it's working much better than St Louis. The coliseum holds 90k but they capped out the seats at about 65k cuz that place is so old and not meant to hold that many people.
I agree, but that franchise did everything they could for the past ten years to poison the well in St.Louis to force their exit. It sucks that LA lost their team in the first place, but what they did in STL was pretty bad.
I love how the Sonics moving to OKC is CONSPICUOUSLY missing from this list. Wow! Moving from the 12th largest market to...that place was a bad business move in the long-term, not to mention the fact that Seattle has one of the best and most loyal all-around fan bases in the country. No city besides L.A. or NY (and Chicago at one time) supports ALL of its teams the way Seattle supports its teams. Taking the Sonics away from Seattle was extremely stupid, and fraudulent. Thunder owner Satan Bennett committed perjury in federal court and violated the terms of the sales contract in order to steal the team. He should have had to vacate the purchase and been sent to prison. As well, taking the Seattle Pilots MLB team away to Milwaukee and turning them into the Brewers was just as bad, and illegal, as was the theft of the Sonics.
3:22 Since this point was made: Tampa Bay won 2 Stanley Cups; Carolina is now a perennial contender after changing coaches, GMs, majority owner, and introduced the post-win Storm Surge that brought back fans to their games.
2:55 At the very least the Raiders did what the Rams have failed to do despite calling Los Angeles home for 31 years during the Super Bowl era, and that's bring the city of L.A. a Super Bowl Championship. They won Super Bowl XVIII in just their second year in L.A.
Eh, Jazz are fifth in NBA right now, and have won a few Championships, so their relocation wasn't bad at all, were y'all smokin crack when u had that one added to the list lol
SUPER BRADYMVP12 i actually stopped listening after they mentioned the Jazz.......they are thriving in Utah and have been ever since they moved there.......
just because teams suck right now, that doesn't mean it's a bad relocation. Colorado avalanche was powerhouse for almost a decade, yes they have tough time now, but almost every team had that problem in NHL. look at Toronto, they havn't won cup since 67, should we relocate them to another market? or canadiens they haven't one cup since 93, even more they havn't been in finals since then. and when you say nobody cares about hockey in south, just look at the map. Sanjose has one of the biggest fan base in the league, they're playoff contenders almost a decade(lost in SCF last year) LA won 2 cups in 2012 and 2014, ducks is one of the strongest team from western conference(has one SC), dallas stars won cup too. lightning been in finals twice and won once.
The Winnipeg Jets to the AriZona Coyotes is just embarrasing. Don’t forget that in the early 2010s, pretty much all the southern NHL teams were failing. Dallas, Raleigh, Florida, even Tampa at one point.
Ive lived in arizona my entire life, and have never seen a hockey jersey here. Never heard of anyone on the Coyotes, never seen a Coyotes game, never seen Coyotes merch. I've seen more Rattlers (Arena Football) gear.
Imo u could have made a list of just nhl bad relocations/expansions (seaddle, atlanta, pheonix, carolina, hartford, las vegas, nyi to brooklyn, and im sure i left out some!
David Barkdoll The reason the Colts moved was Baltimore area politicians put the"Emmint Domain" law on Irsay which would had the state force him to sell the team to them who'd later flip it to another local owner. Irsay left to save his property.
As a Rams fan, we would’ve never won a Super Bowl if we stayed in LA because Kurt Warner would’ve never been given a chance to be on the practice squad. So St Louis was somewhat necessary for 1 Super Bowl 😂
The Cleveland Barons merged with the Minnesota North Stars but retained the two franchise licenses. They split up and Minnesota moved to Dallas and the other team became the San Jose Sharks.
Just want to point out that the Jazz are consistently in the top half of the league in attendance, while the Pelicans, despite having a top 5 player, are 25th and have struggled with attendance since moving to New Orleans. If you're going to make a claim that relocation didn't work out, at least do your research!
Chargers should've stayed in San Diego
Depressed Chargers Fan yup
San Diego got what the deserved. They rejected the stadium referendum the owner had no choice. St Louis tried hard to keep his team but the owner just wanted to move anyways.
dvferyance And the city only became interested in building a new stadium after Kroenke announced he was moving the team to LA.
They should have moved the chargers to San Antonio or even Portland
Jimmy Garoppolo no they were from Los Angeles
Chargers to LA will be on this list soon
Reiko Reseñas agreed. No one here in SoCal cares about them. They belong in SD.
Fuck you spanos
They started in LA
no one in san diego gives a shit about the chargers! its people that live in shit hole cities around san diego county that were stupid enough to like them!

Arizona had been a train wreck for years. Yet the NHL wanted the Thrashers out of Atlanta.
They bent over backwards for the Coyotes, since to move them would be an admitted failure by the NHL who took over the team in the Phoenix area. 2:08 "Walter, I need you to do some wipe downs"
just because teams suck right now, that doesn't mean it's a bad relocation.
How about worst or best season for every NFL team?
buddy eyebrows were hilarious lol
The Winnipeg Jets to the AriZona Coyotes is just embarrasing. Don’t forget that in the early 2010s, pretty much all the southern NHL teams were failing. Dallas, Raleigh, Florida, even Tampa at one point.

it was bad when the Baltimore colts snuck out of town over night to Indianapolis
David Barkdoll The reason the Colts moved was Baltimore area politicians put the"Emmint Domain" law on Irsay which would had the state force him to sell the team to them who'd later flip it to another local owner. Irsay left to save his property.
