the sound and music design of this game is seered into my brain
The anticipation for this game was ridiculous and thankfully it didn't disappoint. This and Colin McRae rally came out around the same time and blew everything else out of the water.

0-60 in around 2 seconds, this thing was the shit back in the day. Didn't figure out how to change the unit to metric but my record was 254 mph by making the gear ratios a tad taller.
You needed Japan or European versions of the game.

Yes I think this was the best car you could buy to fully customize.
It's cool because the weight was a huge problem on the way there, but once you do all the weight reductions & the racing modification - wow the weight went way down & it completely changed the car.
The only other car that was almost as good was a racing AWD FTO you could win from memory.
The ultimate car in Gran Turismo I pushed it to 406 km/h!

The 1995 model Supra was faster, believe it or not, but it did not have the crazy launch of the GTO or the Skylines, due to being rear-wheel drive
This car was my go to paired with the nismo 400R. I might even still have them saved on a psx memory carx😂

I have this car and the one thing I can never figure out is how did I even get this car in the first place because I can buy one just like it and it is impossible to upgrade it to have that much horsepower but I have the one with 930 hp
GT1 was weird with it's performance upgrades. If you buy same car twice, you don't have to buy same upgrades to both. Game actually restricts you from buying upgrades you already bought for the other same car you have. You can apply upgrade parts in test track from menus/customization etc. I had same issue as you did when I accidentally sold my 3000GT and never could buy those top of the line upgrades again. Had to buy stage 3 turbo etc... Until one day I figured out how it works.
