I love how Vergil actually responds to taunts with taunts of his own
That and the lulls in action are actually my favorite parts of this video. They make the fight feel so cinematic, as if the arena really was an open space where these two absurdly powerful siblings were duking it out. It has a completely different feel to it than the flashy chaos of most hack-and-slash action games.
And if you try taunting him in DMC3 he’ll just bum rush you instead, all while calling the player “Trash”.

Man, I love this plot. Vergil separated himself from his human form and spent a month on drinking human blood to overpower Dante. Meanwhile, Dante slept through this entire month, decided to stab himself on a hunch, absorbed the sword that Vergil decided to ignore and caught up to him. Then, Vergil got his ass handed to him by his son, who awakened the power of friendship, or some shit. With all respect for Vergil, he got so owned here, that it's pathetic lol

Imagine how disheartening this fight is for Vergil. He steals his son's arm, kills thousands (possibly millions) of people by summoning the Qliphoth, obtaining what is supposed to be ultimate power by eating the apple created at the top of the tree, re-fusing into his normal self with seemingly greater power than ever before, all for the brother he did all of this to fight to just mock him, dispatching all of his attacks with ease, punishing every minor opening, while you can't even land a single blow.

Most of the people don't know how to fully utilise their style combos in rapid chains lol. Dante is legit overloaded if you know how to use ur kit to its max.
I swear it took me almost a dozen tries before I beat him and I never even THOUGHT of using Royal Guard...

I feel like this game greatly increased the skill ceiling. The amount of buttons you need to press at once, or all in rapid succession, is absurd.
He's not actually kidding, though. Dante has too many god damn weapons at this point. I get legit stressed out playing as him because I feel all this pressure to use everything.

And man, it reminds me how much simpler the DMC reboot was by comparison. If you weren't getting triple S every fight in that game, you weren't even trying.
At least you can choose how many weapons you can take with you now. You could go around with just the Sparda and the Dante if you want too.
@@CognizantCheddar I wasn't talking about the arsenal size, although that is part of it. But let's give Nero as an example for buttons pressed at the same time.
For top tier play, Nero is ALWAYS going to be using the following buttons on a constant basis (at least once per second during a combo) in one way or another. Sword, Gun, Exceed and Buster. These are all needed because there is no reason to not charge your gun, and Buster Knuckle can be used to add in extra damage at no cost during a regular melee attack and functions as a second exceed, sorta.
Then he'll still frequently be using Lock-On, Breaker and Jump. When actually using a Break Art, then he'll want to be holding down the Breaker button while doing other moves.
This is a total of 7 buttons seeing frequent use. Of these, only attack and jump are truly exclusive, and you could reasonably be tapping or holding up to 6 buttons at once (or in very quick succession, as with Exceed and Buster).
In DMC 3, you were pressing only three buttons at once. Melee, holding gun charge, and lock-on. And the gun charge was only needed if you were in Gunslinger style. Every Style action was mutually exclusive with a melee action or a jump, so there was no need to press it while another action was being performed. Proper play with DMC 5 Nero requires double the amount of (near) simultaneous button presses that DMC 3 Dante did.
On the one hand, increased skill ceilings are fun, but on the other hand, this is more than a little bit excessive. At the very least, auto gun-charge could have been added to avoid having to hold that down constantly.

If you fail perfect guard in DMC 5 it will consume one bar of dt and turn it in perfect guard, thus making it more accessible as a tool in Dante's arsenal, but at the same time making fights like these baby-cake easy.

Normal players dont know that invincibility frame exist in DMC and you can combine it with RG to make perfect block easier. You can even avoid an AOE by a simple jump if you time it perfectly no need to get out of range.

This comment is more funny now than ever.
Seeing this after my recent playthrough is absolutely wild. I have absolutely no idea how to do combos and those aerial jugles so I ended up spending 9 gold orbs on this fight on medium difficulty. That's way more than for anything else in this game. Most other bosses I managed to do without spending gold orbs with a few exceptions where I used only one but for this annoying fight it was 9. In comparison for the Nero vs Vergil fight that happens right after this one I only revived once with red orbs because as it happened 9 orbs were all I had when starting the fight with Dante. Honestly I'll probably play at the easiest difficulty once I decide to play again especially considering that my experience was very similar in most other DMC games. First game, I had to use the mode that unlocks after you die a few times. DMC 2 was surprisingly easy as Dante but as Lucia I got stuck at that underwater boss and never completed that game, DMC 3 was fine on medium difficulty untill that lady that has some kind of bats and that can teleport away from you. She made me rage quit so I didn't complete the supposedly best game in the series as well. Then for DMC 4 Nero was fine but I got stuck somewhere as Dante, for some reason I don't even remember where. The reboot was amazing and the first game that was fully playable on a keyboard and mouse with proper camera controls and everything. Without much trouble I completed both the main game and dlc on medium difficulty. And DMC 5 was also very good aside from Dante vs Vergil fight. I'll probably revisit the series at easiest difficulty for each game after I play other games that are similar genre. For now it's Rising Revengeance and both Nier games.
Try dying on bosses for an hour instead of using items. That's how this games are ment to be played

I like how Vergil's ai becomes more agressive depending on how much you taunt them. Until this game Boss's were weirdly immune to taunts.

@@badass6300 Well, I'm not a pro player, but every time I hear about a new DMC game I take for granted that I'll beat it in a weekend and have a great time bt doing so. When I heard about a new Soul's game (like the new Elden Ring) I wonder how many times I'll die (and how frustated I'm gonna be) till I finally get a guide to go through.
@@-RAZALAS- Well DMC games are not as long as DS games(if you play normally and clear everything normally, otherwise I've beaten DS1 in 5+ hours, DS3 in 4+ hours and bloodborne in 4+ hours).
But that doesn't have anything to do with difficulty.
Both games are hack and slash, so you wait and block, dodge, parry their move set and attack in the gaps with the mechanic you have available to you.
DMC is harder in the right modes. DS is just having patience zzzZz
