Bandpass splatter paint job FINISHED! and ANNOUNCEMENT!

- Today I finish body working the inside of the Acura fourth order bandpass box then paint it. The interior of the box is textured with Rustoleum Stone texture spray paint from Home Depot then coated with Rustolem Professional flat white enamel spray paint.
I then splattered paint the inside of the box with purple paint to match the Ecstacy subwoofers. #caraudio #fabrication #soundman

That's right, the prep job is the most important thing before you start painting. I've been painting for 22yrs now. Don't listen to the morons who complained about not painting anything.
25 years ago I built a box for 412s in a straight quad prefab box where I cut the top off and replaced it with plexiglass and I painted the inside of the box white with neon yellow and green that I splatter painted. And finished it off with a 4ft purple neon tube light. I had it in the trunk of an 87 Monte Carlo LS it was sick. did you see my box Doug? It’s crazy seeing you build this box and Paint it in this way it really brings back some really good memories thanks Doug

I used the same rustoleum gloss white enamel on some mdf speaker ring adapters. They turned out really nice.
False. They turned out swell.
I realise this episode is like 11 months old but if you wanna do a fillet fill on MDF with bondo like that. Put some short screws in the MDF before you bondo with the heads of them sticking up a hair. The bondo can grab onto the screw heads and make it stay where you want it way better. I know you don't live in a humid environment but it also helps when the MDF expands and bondo starts popping off. You live in a dehumidifier so not really a concern there.
Doug, you are a true professional. I can tell you have many, many years experience rubbing your caulk inside the box. XD

That is a Work of Art.
*MDF is basically wood scrap (dust, chips) mixed with glue,*
*and compressed. There are no "pores" for Bondo or similar*
*thick substances to wick into (capillary action) the surface.*
*You could use the router, to roughen up a "channel" where*
*adhesives would go, or the best would be to put a row of*
*brads or similar on the line, or in a routed "channel", that*
*the Bondo or caulk can anchor to.*
*I wouldn't have used brittle Bondo- in an environment that's going*
*to experience huge vibrations. Thinned out wood glue,*
*or a SEALER by DAP are more well suited, specifically*
