Great video . I'm a Barnet boy now living in Australia , I was so sad to see Underhill all closed down and then heard it demolished . Look forward to the new stadium in Barnet and one day attend a game .
Well presented and interesting video. Why wouldn’t Barnet council want to harness local community pride and local community cohesiveness by promoting their wonderful local football club? It’s a real resource for an area, town or city to have a club. It brings people together! It promotes health, physical and emotional! Come on people of Barnet get behind your community, get behind your club!
Because Barnet’s a tiny club and few of Barnet borough’s 388,000 residents care about the club that much. NIMBYs have real power to frustrate planning processes.
Underhill was a legendary place with loads of special memories not least of all the famous sloping pitch. Unfortunately the local council seemed to treat the club as an annoyance rather than as an historic local institution, part of Barnet's rich heritage. Let's hope the Bees can return back to their righful home. Bring Barnet Back!
I'm not a Barnet fan, but have been to The Hive as a neutral ( against Chesterfield in Jan '22). Decent ground and complex, but they're in exile, so it would be nice for the fans to get the club back home. Also, decent and informative video - keep up the good work.
Yes, I agree. We even had plans to build a new stand behind the goal. If the Hive was in Barnet it would be great - that’s the problem - the location. Thank you for watching.
I visited Underhill in 1991, while I was living in London. I'm from New Zealand, and Barnet had won promotion to the old fourth division. Plan on visiting or seeing Barnet play next year.
Good video bro, fingers crossed they move back home. Remember going to Underhill and The Hive with my team Torquay and yes is a big difference in atmosphere, The Hive is quiet
Great Vid. yes we need to get back ' Home '. to be were we belong, for the fans and the local community. please do all you can to make this happen. COYB'S.
Great video as always mate, me and my friends used to sell the match programme, the beehive, outside the ground in the early 70s, it had a wonderful atmosphere, good luck in returning to its rightful home .
I just watched your video very interesting. I don’t live in around Barnet as I’m from North London Tottenham but I used to date someone who lived literally five minutes away from the Underhill stadium. What I was thinking is the stadium that they got now what they should do is loan that stadium to a local team in Edgeware area or even a nonleague team who wants and is looking for a new home as I think the hive will be a great location for various of teams in an around North London That would definitely make sense
Thanks for watching. The stadium deserves someone to play there, it’s a great location. The problem is that there’s not many teams around Edgware who would take it on, for example Edgware Town FC wouldn’t be able to afford it, Wealdstone FC have their own plans for a new ground. Hopefully, as Dan said, it works well just renting the ground out for single games/events.
Very interesting. I went to Underhill many times & have been to The Hive which I do actually like, it's a great facility but it's not a ground for 1500-2000 fans, I'd be interested to know how big this new stadium would be...
The new stadium will be 6000-8000. But of course promotion to league 2 is on the cards this season which will increase attendances. And the move back to Barnet will see more people go too. I think if the Hive was actually in Barnet it would be perfect.
@TFSS I'm a Southend fan exiled around the Barnet area and have a soft spot for that club. Our own takeover should happen next month and we are expecting a better season next time, which will bring pressure itself
The hive looks terrible it really does..who made the decision to just up sticks and move to Harrow and not fight the council absolutely shocking 🤣🤔 great video enjoyed it mate 👍
Went to Underhill in the late 80's and early 90's when Barnet were Knocking on the door for promotion to the FL. The attendances were in excess of 5000 for every home game so something has changed.. I still go and watch my beloved Bees but not like the old days at Underhill..
Very well presented, and although I accept if you delete my comment, I feel my views regarding Barnet are correct. I watched them in the years in non league at Underhill, when lots of ex top pros used to play for the home side and opponents. They were part time then. As they progressed towards gaining that league promotion, in that game versus Fisher, they began to acquire a bad reputation under Stan Flashman. The atmosphere at Barnet was very good, but being close to the play helped, and there existed no arrogance about football during those times. The fall of Barnet: Last time I went to Underhill, I was surprised to be surrounded by stewards, who told me I couldn't stand upfront. For some reason, fans had to stand about 29 feet back. I visited the new stadium 4 years ago, and 20 stewards began looking up at me. The cause: I was seen drinking a coke and the can seemed prohibited. At Barnet, it's not the rules which concerned me, but the heavy handed way they control the crowd there. If anybody is to blame for killing the atmosphere, its the club itself. There is recent coverage of a Wealdstone fan running onto the pitch, after an equalising goal. He offered no threat to players and just would have run off. A steward ran on and wrestled the guy to the ground. It was reported that a fan punched a steward. I also phoned the club about obtaining a match ticket, and received an unfriendly response. I feel the pro game went to their head, and the stewards they employ behave more like prison guards. This is appropriate for clubs with bigger support and lots of atmosphere, but at Barnet, they notice everything a fan does. Barnet have an army of stewards, right next to a big Police area. All to watch over 1500 fans. They want you to sit in silence. Wherever Barnet re-emerge at, it won't change. Barnet FC don't care about their supporters.
@@TFSSI am not a fan and only giving my experiences, but Hendon is a club with a unique experience and welcomes anybody in. If anybody wants to see non league football, and for very cheap money, then visit Hendon. You, yourself, know how nice that club are. Oneday, we will get to the football league. I dont understand why the high street in Barnet has gone downhill. It was thriving when i used to visit 10 or 15 years ago, it cant just be down to the football club surely
Barnet are only to make money. Hendon, keep alive through volunteers and more free help. A great club. Come and see brilliant games, without the strain of harassment from stewards.

This reminds me of West Ham and the Boleyn Pub struggling in Green Street. And then Barnet high street struggling after the move to Harrow
That’s a good example, lots of the local shops have since shut or are struggling.
Great video. Great channel 👌⚽

Hopefully we can win the play offs this season, and a move back to Underhill in the next couple of years would top it all off. Those days can return!
What is the timeframe for this to happen?
Dan said to me about a year for planning and a year for building but because there’s so many processes to go through it’s difficult to estimate.
If Barnet do get promotion via Play offs they will also be in next seasons EFL Cup and start in EFL Trophy Southern section
That would be interesting to watch!
