Hi Shaun a great video as ever good to see you back hope you are all well If I am correct the af117 were in the rp10 and rp30 and very early rp35 but later ones were lockfits and the sovereign rp18 and rp25 were the same and the rp25a was lockfits I am not sure when the swap happened but remember graham and George saying about it Two lovely radios should come up lovely I do like the red hackers maybe one day! Anyway take care look forward to the next one Daniel
Thank for watching Daniel and sharing the information, interesting about when mullard switched to lockfits I'm looking forward to having some time to work on the sets and uploading the results Best regards Shaun
Hi Shaun. RP35's nice, and sweet sounding radios. Essentially the same as the Sov II's but without the FM section. I am wondering if both of those might have been either fully or partly converted to silicon, but you won't know until you remover that silver screening can. It does look though that the normally visible AF117 has been replaced with silicon within both of them, so you never know and your luck might be in. Both do seem to work fine without any need for tappy tappy! I will be looking forward to the next instalment and what you discover!.
Thanks for watching Gerry Yes I was expecting AF117s after reading on radiomuseum I thought I'd be zapping! After googling a few images I can find they do seem to have AF117s Very nice radios Best regards Shaun
For some reason I’m watching these in totally the wrong order. The black one sounded a bit strange so I assume it’s probably capacitors although the tuning cap seemed a little scratchy. The red one is the best colour. The wobbly volume pot probably means it’s been changed for a plastic shafted version at some stage in its life as the off position doesn’t look correctly lined up. They should both make great radios when done. Cheers Graham
I'm quite surprised that you are still interested in ye olde hackers. The dodgy long wave is likely the push buttons, switches are a pain in any age of equipment. Drownd the multi legged gits lol :-D. If you get crackle when tuning, look at the tuning condenser vanes. One of those radios from 1966, i was screaming and feeling cold, yep born in 66 lol. I suspect as the stations vanish a pcb to re broardcast the fm band to the mw band could happen.
Thank you for watching Harvey Yes identifying the LW issues is the switch, something I usually check right away . The electric department on both sets are ok (just a service required) The red set really does need alot of cosmic metic cosmetic work, I enjoy that challenge Best regards Shaun

I've not gotten round to an in depth look at the black one yet but I'll heed your observations when I do
