skycarl It's just stupid dumb people that don't realise that he is videoing outside in the desert so of course there might be some wind & that's something you can't avoid. Some biscuit brains need to learn how to get a life! People like them are the ones that would ruin our enjoyment of Shangos videos which I certainly don't want to lose Shango on here or my life would be over. 😢

I remember those Zenith TV commercials back in the 60's. _"The quality goes in before the name goes on."_ Ahhh, those memories of the days of Chris Montez and "Let's Dance." Could *never* forget "Theme from A Summer Place" by Percy Faith and His Orchestra.

Could not agree more! I really enjoy all your videos +Shango066, and the so called 'noise' in the background is all part of it - besides anything else, it shows that what you are doing is real, live and not scripted and edited to buggery.
Please don't curtail the amount of videos you post as a result of people being negative - if they don't like watching the video, then they should just click away and watch something else. Don't let the bastards grind you down!

This channel is better than anything on television right now. I have been doing electronics repair for over 30 years, and I learn a lot from watching these videos. The fact that Shango066 is as entertaining as he is knowledgeable is simply a bonus ("transistor bulbs" still makes me laugh and now I find myself saying it all the time). Keep the videos coming.

Please please do not give up on your videos!!!!! Yours and radiotvphononut's are the best on You tube. I've been repairing vintage electronics for about 50 years and I've learned so much from watching your videos. Even if you repair AA5s, there's so much to learn and each is unique. I've really missed your vids over the past month and hope you continue and flip the bird at the complainers. End of rant!! Now for my comment on your resurrection of today - "Zenith - The quality goes in before the name goes on!"

  • @MsCori76
    @MsCori76 7 лет назад +9

Hey Shango don't give up doing the videos please. I'm actually in tears when you said you would prefer working on your projects/electronics & not bother videoing them! Gee just block the whingers & trolls, don't allow them to make you negative & down. I cop it from negative trolls a lot on here in the comments of your videos & I just ignore them as I'm on here to enjoy you & your videos, not to put up with their crap! love Corinna:)
P.S that's so cool that the radio still works after what's it's been through. You are just such a awesome person & a genius with everything you work on & that's why I love you & your channel. 😀💖👍🏻

This video helped me figure out my non-functioning Zenith 1000-1. I was testing the contact of the transistors and found the one that was causing the radio to not play. I pulled a transistor from another radio and put that in. The radio came to life. I would not have been able to figure out the problem on my own. Thanks for posting this.

You're the main reason I recently (past month) got into vintage AA5 radios. Just restored a beautiful GE 202 and picked up a mint GE 221 AND a PACO G-30 signal generator (needed a way to align) last weekend at a flea market. Unfortunately both work perfectly. Was hoping for a repair. These 2 radios have the variable cap IF transformers instead of fixed caps, so no SMD I think. Keep the videos coming; screw the pinheads.

My kind of music !! I can not believe a radio from ..what the 60's?? sitting in a dump for what....30 odd years?? in the weather, baking in the sun...hot-cold !...and oh ! A FREAKING TRUCK RAN OVER IT...and IT STILL WORKS !! Amazing ! You know your stuff !..American Quality is still tops. My dad after many many used TV sets...saved up and bought a 19" black and white Zenith TV. in ...like 1966 I'd say. It was the best TV we had to that date...and it never failed into the mid 70's when my parents bought their first Color Tv !..It was a Magnavox...but the Zenith reminds me of watching the Beatles and Clutch cargo, I spy etc.lol.

Man you are awesome. This weekend, I took the courage to start checking my 7000 y model, it was at least, 5 years under a desktop, carrying dust. I watched a video, a guy explaining how he manage the assembly and disassemble of the same model, and guess what happened... 🧐😳😱, I get fixed the radio 😉🙃😜🥳. The only thing lacking was the chart, and dial light. I couldn't get it. I think I will have to open it again, and check if the dial bulb lights are burned, and if they work in series with the chart bulb, as I suspect. Its amazing the standard of quality of this North American great radios. Its not the garbage that we found today of Chinese plastic, worth for nothing. I have in fact, 2 models of this 1000, I am pretty sure, I can make of both, 1 fixed. Thanks for re asure me, that almost nothing is impossible. I'll keep you in touch, if I'll be able to fixed it, because I am not a technician, and my electronics knowledge is basic. You have a subscriber more from now on. Greetings from the Central America. Pure vida.

Love all your videos! You are the ONLY reason I have gotten into the electronic's repair hobby. I learned how to quick and dirty diagnose and repair vintage electronics from your videos. I have successfully repaired/restored 7 different tube radios and HIFI consoles because of you. You taught me that wiIth a few basic pieces of equipment, and a little common sense, i should just dive in a have at it. All of your videos are pretty damn interesting, and your commentary is always spot on. I don't care if you are fixing a radio, tv, plumbing or exploring a mine shaft, they are all good. Keep at it Shango, and thank-you for creating all of this great content!

I enjoy your videos. You and radiotvphononut are always interesting to watch. Both of you repair old interesting electronics. Both of you (and another called 12voltvids who repairs video tape recorders and video equipment that y'all seem to stay away from) put out amazing content that people can learn a lot from. You also tend to show explorations of old buildings and sites which I often find interesting as well. Another reason I keep hearing about people tapering off on videos is that the income is down for those monetizing videos due to some change that has been made lately (12voltvids has mentioned that and some RUclipsrs are using Patreon to try to get contributions). I'm always glad to see new videos of that type that y'all make. I'm not sure what the future of RUclips will be if the trend continues. I got rid of cable TV a few years ago and do not miss it because I never could find anything I could enjoy watching due to the decline of the shows. Anything intelligent got dumbed down or replaced with something else. One of your previous videos had you saying as you were flipping through the channels of a repaired TV - that the current programming reflects the declining IQ of the general population. I agree completely. Don't let negative commenters get you down -- for every negative commenter there are 10 who enjoy your content and a lot of them might not comment often. Think of restaurant or venue reviews -- people who feel negative are much more vocal than the positive. 11 people go into a restaurant (10 have a good experience and 1 has a bad expeerience) and who is more likely to leave a review? The one who felt they had a bad experience.

Check how many views the videos get, versus number of people leaving bad comments. It's statistically insignificant, people watch it because it's entertaining - if videos sucked there wouldn't be any trolls. Furthermore, "good" comments are kind of pointless, you definitely don't seem like the type who cares for, or needs "cheerleading" .. I (and I suspect most others) only comment with something relevant to content, and usually I have nothing to add despite enjoying the video. Don't want to add a bunch of irrelevant noise to comments. That said it's great to see you back, have to admit I began to think there was a mining exploration related accident!

That's amazing! If I had a radio that sounded that good AFTER a restoration, I'd be very pleased.
Personally, I like the wind noise.
It's an audible reminder that these sets you're finding are castoffs, and for decades have been tormented by rain, scorched by the sun, an sand blasted by the wind.
You're not wasting your time posting videos. I enjoy them immensely, and I'm sure thousands of others do too.
It's attention seeking trolls, and people with the attention span of a toddler who waste their time complaining, rather than finding instant gratification elsewhere.

About all I get on SW in my area is religious programming and Spanish programming. A while back, I picked up Radio Miami and they were playing oldies; but, the SW bands are certainly not as active as they were in 1990, when I got my first Zenith Royal 3000 and a Hallicrafters S40B.

I want to tell you that I enjoy your vids and content. I have learned lots watching your restoration and resurrection vids. I find it very neat to see you spend time making something work that others would pass by on. Keep the vids coming!

Shango, It's really a shame that it comes down to this, as I enjoy your content more than any other electronics repair channel (and I'm sure I'm not alone). No matter what, there will always be haters, trolls, and armchair quarterbacks who have nothing better to do than complain, ridicule, and spread negativity. RUclips seems to be especially full of this. The best thing to do is simply ignore/block. Don't let the trolls win. 15k subscribers can't be wrong. In the end, the trolls fail.
I have learned more from you than the other electronics channel I am subscribed to, and I'd like to thank you for what you do. I hope you keep the content coming, however slow it may be from now on. A little Shango is better than none at all!

Excellent! I've never found the wind noise excessive on any of your videos. You are out in the desert for heavens sake. You can always hear your voice and that to me is the main thing. Shame not so much short wave in the states. In Asia there are a lot of short wave stations, China especially sends out quite a few shortwave stations that travel well, perhaps even in the states with a big antenna and good conditions you'd pick them up.

I wonder where there are any old Zenith engineers that created such a radio it would be great to see their reaction to this video.

I have been waiting on a video forever! Screw the haters. I'll watch whatever you push out. I feel I gotta be fast to watch as I've seen videos disappear.

This radio has endured an electronic apocalypse, and the thing works. Yes, I'm amazed. Wind noise? The safe-space-kids can learn to deal with it.

I have made a few satirical comments on some of your work, but they were never meant to hurt. You do some unique things and go where many would not feel comfort. I always enjoy your work, though I might not always agree with you. Keep your chin up, and keep up the original thinking. Don't let the bastards get you down.

Pretty cool the things that get tossed aside. The last 30 seconds of the video, with this battered radio playing music reminded me of the movie "Christine". Haha. Beaten, but still alive.....
