I've managed to play as rebels in RTW without crashes. The interesting thing is that you can have public order as low as you want without fear of rioting
It would be funny to have a revolt if you play as rebels... hah
07jaworski07
They must be coded to never have rebellion
It's actually the opposite, you can make other factions swing to your side if they revolt. Works in Med 2 as well, so it is possible to complete the campaign in 4-5 turns.
Dolfy
Yeah but the rebel-held towns can't double revolt is what I was getting at
Just wanted to throw some useless shit I know :s
28:50 "I don't think they'll accept it but it doesn't cost us anything to try."
(Hires a diplomat)
Rome is such an epic game. Unlike the new TW titles it has a soul.
Ganja Boy shame it isn't aged well
would be cool if the remastered it but they would need a new engine
@@Cafetero_ it didnt?
@@Cafetero_ It's from 2004. I don't know any game from 2004 that as aged nearly as well as RTW.
HL2 ^
The cycle of total war viewership is when a new game comes out it gets the most views and after some time the people go back to the classics like medieval 2 and rome with mods until another game comes out.
Nice, Numidia. Quite challenging indeed. Infuriating lack of good units.
the numidian legionnares are the only good infantry unit
@@eggplantwings3512 They are literally just better Hastati. The dessert spearmen are better in desserts and better morale.
@@herroberbesserwisser7331 they are actually desert principes, not as good as legionaries but a pretty solid unit (their morale is a little low though)
lol i captured the sahara province with a single numidian legionary unit
"As for Total War: Warhammer 2, I don't think I am ever going to do a single one of those Campaigns..."
This statement has not aged well lolll..
keep going legend i love these lets plays
Look who it is, the Timurid Horde. Shouldn't you guys be in MATNs comments?
Hawnzor yeah but me and general legend are quite similar... we both like conquering with an iron fist and slaughtering people on a huge scale. I come here when my army has to camp for night time and its just me in the tent..heh
Okay then, keep it up. I expect you to fuck up the Danish tho
Hawnzor i think we can sadiq but unfortunately we must wait for more than 100 turns and hope Mr nerd has not completed the campaign before we arrive. Say, my army still needs bulking up...you want to join?
Well I'm already in Europe so...
Numidian cavalries are perfect for flanking, and "hit and run"
Loved this video.
I am one of those heavy infantry guys but can def appreciate these skirmish tactics. I personally dont like having to micromanage but if I could do it as well as you, Legend, then I would be a skirmisher. Amazing to see these cheap ass units do work lol
Rome 1 series as an obscure faction, love it,
Good to see you selling map info in the early game, for the dirt poor factions a diplomat is one of the best investments you can make.
Good to see you back to doing what you love Legend, watching you play RTW just makes me want to start new campaigns
Love the way you play, as it should be, Always active, always moving, no pausing, continually reacting. Nice work.
This is so good I wish you would come out with more RTW series
It's quite hilarious to hear Legend at the start say "As for Warhammer 2 I don't even know if I want to play that game..." only for that game to become quite possibly his favorite game of all time.
It's really funny now hearing Legend talking about how he's not sure if he will play Warhammer II.
YESSSSS!!!!!!!! I've been waiting for this for AGES!!! Thanks Legend👍🏻
About the Numidian legionary it’s a bit surprising but they actually existed! Romans had a bit of a problem with calling all sword armed infantry with javelins imitation legionaries. From the Hellenic Thureophoroi and Thorakitai to some Parthian units the Romans called them all legionaries even if they weren’t developed with Roman influence ((The thureophoroi were probably developed either before or alongside the Roman republican forces)). The Romans referred to Numidian legions during one of their wars against them so most likely these men were influenced by Roman designs but most likely weren’t a full army and probably were a small elite force.
I have never watched a single warhammer video, so i re-started watching your channel with this wave of historical total war campaigns.
"Give me good cavalry and I will conquer the world. Unless the cavalry is shit." LegendofTotalwar
Legend, fix the description. It says Total War: Rome 2 - Imperator Augustus Campaign playing as Parthia on Legendary difficulty. Goal: Whole map conquest and have fun.
thanks, fixed it
Fucking idiot unsubscribed
Fergus Macrae You know Legend doesn't give a fuck about your petty bullshit right?
Boy you just took the B A I T
geez i've never seen someone get baited so easily
You do you legend
Numidian Legionaries as infantry is actually historical. These sorts of non-Roman attempts to have legionaries were known as imitation legionaries and were somewhat common.
Mate, you're looking at Desert Infantry NOT Eastern Infantry. Still shit, but shit with higher moral and stats.
Desert Infantry are not nearly as useless. They will hold the line against Hastati, even on very hard.
im just glad you re back with rome total war
Been looking forward to this for a long time.
This will be a great series.
Not for long. When he destroys the Roman stacks it's just gonna be nothing but cav/archer spam though I do agree the fun factor in this campaign is gonna be longer than most campaigns.
noblemator cz Yep, for sure😄
So glad you aren't playing anymore warhammer, loving the historical content much more, hope you don't play warhammer 2. Great vid 👍
Taylor Holmes Not a chance, the newest game in the series gets the most views, he can't afford losing the ad revenue, so probably at least a few campaigns while the hype is up. Also who knows, maybe that game's actually good (jk)
P
He might do one on the combined campaign
He'll probably play Warhammer II but just try one faction (might be the Skavens cause of the hype)
I refuse to try WH just because of the pricing model with the DLCs, and pre-order nonsense. Won't bother with Rome 2 or Attila either. DLC has gotten ridiculous.
I m glad that you`ve decided not to use mods anymore . This is gonna be a great campaign ! Thanks for the content man !
Hi! I recently discovered this channel because i wanted to see some good old Rome TW gameplay. I just wanted to comment on what you said in the first minutes of the gameplay. I have to say that I love the fact that you prefer playing a game that you like over a game that is new. Keep on doing that! You are playing a game that is quite literally legendary, and you are an absolute beast at it. My oppinion is taht as long as the thing you are doing is interesting for you, it will be interesting for your viewers too. Great job.
About time! I expected this episode years back. GJ btw. I always thought this was a fun little challenge for me back in my earliest years of TW, but now it does seem a bit easier. For the melee minded, Numidia had nothing but shit.
But... The desert infantry are better than you may think, if in numbers when you fight in the desert early, because they get desert bonus. But after that, better just to disband them.
It's nice to have youtubers who make you like to watch the oldest Total War gameplay even if you don't play them anymore.
Hope to see you play Fall of the Samurai one day
Greeting from France by the way !
The oldest TW gameplay would be the first Shogun, and I'm afraid even Legend doesn't do it.
You play what ever the fuck you want man. I'll still watch it.
do what you love, not what you hate. you do you legend
"you don't have as many men as I do arrows and javelins" - ltw in a nutshell
love your work , your commentary is great
Hey you do you, Legend. Don't let people nagging at you dictate what you should do, keep doing what you want to do.
If the people want Warhammer there are plenty of other LPers who will cover it, the day YOU choose to return to it will be a good campaign, not when you feel obligated to.
I like what you've done with your channel tbh
Watching Legend again, just for fun.
I love desert-skirmishy factions, I look forward to seeing Legend play with this.
AMAZING!!!! was waiting for a Numidia campaign thx
Legend playing as Rohan in the Third Age mod wouldn't even be fair for the rest of middle earth, best cav commander
If this is the toughest...lol...Legend has this. Now the berbers on barbarian invasion is hard. Those religious penalties and infastructure you lack is brutal...plus their's like had or a quarter the settlements.
Just my opinion though.
Do what you want to do Legend this is why i subbed to you you're unique!
Its intriguing too, on the mobile port of Rome: TW (terrible controls i'll add) numida is a preset faction you can play as!
Great video Great game
Does numidia actually have the numidian spearmen (the early game egyptian phalanxes) in their roster?
Thats nubian spearmen
MrAhnassi yeah but still, numidia is a african faction so it should have access to them, they would make numidia a stronger early game faction and give them a phalanx.
Nubia was South of Egypt though
Loving this new series :) I used camel spearman heavily against Spain , javelin calvary work well against slow Carthage.
1:00:44 Btw, that is NOT a "cheap exploit". Generals in ancient times would lay ambushes for those rushing out of walled cities just like that.
That Barbarian intro at the start though.
LuNi.Fi Like he said, Numidia isn't supposed to be played, so their campaign is not fully fleshed out (they didn't even have the intro text in the faction select screen)
Exantius9 I know that. I have played Rome total War well over 500 hours myself. It is my favourite total War game off all Time too. And infact I have played as Numidia before. I just wonder why they have barbarian intro because every single unlocked faction still have their respective intro used.
I think in some hard code somewhere in the game sets barbarian as 'default' value, when none is set. IE: everything not set is given barbarian intro.
Syphax was the strongest man ever seen in our history
Not sure if it's prerecorded or if you've taken it already, but on the coast north west of your easternmost territory ( not Thebes ) there's a small port city.
Sun Shower All most positive he already knew about it
Hey guys, please how can I unlock uplayable factions like Numidia, Pontus, Macedon, etc.?
Michal Držka I think you either win as a Roman faction or change stuff in the files
Get into the Rome: total war files, then go Rome Total War Gold -> data -> world -> maps -> campaign-> imperial campaign -> descr_strat -> copy and paste "end nonplayable" factions into "campaign playable". Then, delete the factions in the "end nonplayable" list.
Numidia is a really weird campaign, it starts off really boring as you're stuck with nothing until you take a Carthaginian city and then you can spam archers and cavalry the rest of the game. Since you can get archers in a large town you'll get early game missile superiority but you fall off after a while. I wouldn't say they're the hardest faction, I'd say the Brits are since they get mediocre troops with terrible general's bodyguard and can't knock out Rome before they're strong.
Wait you're saying a bunch of sand people with javelins outperform a barbarian tribe that wins basically by right clicking? For fuck's sakes their warlords have a massive morale debuff that makes chainrouts easier than ever.
Seems reasonable, I mean that's your opinion LUL
Chariots are only good when the enemy has very few archers or phalanxes. A few volleys from archers and chariots die very fast and even charging at the back of phalanxes can lead to chariot casualties. Numidia can have a ton of heavy cavalry through family members and then use their spearmen to hold a line to do the hammer and anvil strat against most enemies whereas the British are unable to do it against Hellenic factions and struggle heavily against Egypt who will very likely be strong by the time the British can get to them.
You told Brits are weak in early game so unless you're doing a blitz campaign where you kill the entire world in 30 turns, you're full of shit.
Struggling to fight against armoured hoplites? Just take some head hurlers and destroy half a unit per volley.
Struggling against archers? Your general has 7 hitpoints so he can run through pikes and he'll be fine and you have chariot archers for crying out loud.
Struggling to perform a hammer and anvil? You can recruit swordsmen really early game that can tank infantry a lot better than Numidian legionaries. Chosen swordsmen aren't that hard to get as well.
This game isn't that complicated lol
Also Numidia doesn't have any decent heavy cavalry till Marian reforms when you actually get armoured gen's bodyguards and Numidian legionaries are just as strong as Roman principes AND they need a huge city for it.
I never said they were weak in the early game, I said that Numidia has the advantage over them as Numidia can knock out Rome early on which eliminates the biggest threat in the game. General's also can't just run through pikes and be fine since British chariot generals have low defense which means pikes shred them and even with the hitpoints they die within a few seconds fighting pikes and the other units in the bodyguard will die very fast to pikes and archers. Numidia's general's bodyguard is also good enough heavy cavalry to deal with most troops since it has high enough defense to hammer and anvil pikemen without taking any real damage. Good infantry also doesn't matter much in the campaign, it just needs to be good enough to hold until you can flank with cavalry which the Numidian spearmen and legionaries manage.
You right click with chariots. Russians in the multiplayer lobbies win Britannia vs Carthage that way.
Frickin Amazing!
gnizama nikcirf
This is the hardest campaign, aaaaaand he has won on ep 1
guy playing Numidia on the hardest difficulty, having 77k views and 1,6k vs 35 dislike, now that's the background information and stats why I'm microwaving a pop-corn and having a good afternoon program. thanks!
Numidia? Is this the real life?
full map or victory conditions?
Numidia is good. The roster is small, but it can be used effectively, and even though the regions are shit, at least they have access to the sea... unlike Dacia, who does have a good unit and building roster but no ports and poor regions, with many potential foes.
I agree. Dacia is the second hardest campaign :)
(But all RTW1 campaigns are easy when you play enough, because the AI is still universally retarded).
Even though I do enjoy the rage, I'm glad to hear you're much more happy now instead.
I will be honest, I use a few cheats when I play this game: 1 - The No Fog of War cheat (Applied it once, and never took it off). 2 - More Money Cheat (That way I can pay for my units' upkeep, hire mercenaries, bribe enemy generals (and their forces, if possible, not to mention settlements) into joining my side and not worry about finances). 3 - Insta Build Cheat (No one wants to wait to be able to recruit the best possible units, and it lets one crank out the best possible units of that tier of settlement can do while others put out militia-types. 4 - Create Unit Cheat (since the Insta Recruit Cheat doesn't work, this is the next-best thing, and can let you recruit up to five units of the same type with gold attack, gold defense, and max experience, which you can use to create five militia-types to garrison places that you just bribed over to your side). 5 - Discount Cheat (saves you 10% of the recruitment fees.
Granted, some might complain, but I find it to be fun.
“I need to skirmish,” buys costly archers instead of cheap and replaceable skirmishers…
archers are gud with advanced and large armies but using them as skirmishers is foolish, especially without heavy infantry to support them
The ancient Thebes 250BC... Thought it would have been a bit more impressive than that.
Just jumped from the parthia campaign from years before this to here and you sound and act way different from the first time I saw your videos. You were very entertaining swearing at everything all the time
Oh hell yeah, I remember when I did this campaign
You consider playing any mods? Roma Surrectum 3 came out a while ago
so for some reason i have no deployment phase in Rome total war. anyone run into this, and know how to fix it
how do you unlock the different factions?
How can you attack hand-to-hand when a missile unit still has ammo? Like sword attacking with Numidian cavalry when they still have spears?
Hold alt to change to melee attack order for the unit
Fribnibby thank you!!!!
How do you make those horse javelin men make them do an direct attack instead of skirmishing?
Hold down cntrl when attacking
Why don't you use skirmish mode on your missile cavalry?
Numidian javs are fun on normal battle diff.
They are basically a bad hastati at the level of town watch - and they definetely fight better than most T1 units (militia hoplites can form pretty decent shieldwalls too).
Some of the warbands may be stronger but them having javs and fast movement speed for sure makes for exciting fights lol
Oh, and they have archers at 1 tier earlier (T2 city instead of T3 city) since they have skirmishers in barracks. Pretty cool.
What is the ethinic of the population of Numidia? Greek or Roman or Mazedonian?
What happened to that late era stainless steel byzantium campaign you said you were going to do?
I feel a bit stupid for asking this but can you get sacred band from the awesome temple of Baal as Numidia?
eli H oh ok. I just thought that maybe they would have some decent infantry.
No. Numidia do not get sacred band. But they get archers, it's same models in the elephant archer of Carthage minus the elephant.
My bro conquered the west africa but then the house of Scipio came
Your numidian cav is the answer, when you have the money of Carthage... Vs early roman units, get cav superiority, and then rape the romans by choosing your battles wise enough and don't throw away your units. Their infantry is superior, and there isn't anything you can do to fix that, so don't play that game. Hell, probably one on one your cav isn't even better - but a high cav composition still beats the shitty composition of the comp when you know how to exploit ai stupidity.
"numidian legions" is a term used by some roman witness (who the fuck knowsius maximus) who said thats what they were .. but its very low detail, is it numidians equipped and trained to be like roman legions? or is he just calling large orderly groups of tribal spearmen, or maybe carthaginian hoplite types, "legions"?
we dont know :) its a fair thing to do it either way
Why don't you use skirmish mode or fire at will?
When I get this game and starting playing numidia I'll get pezate to reil on my infeteia for a while
Jav cav can actually be very impressive once they get some experience or flank shots. Tbh you should just use generals bodyguard in this series
I know you said no more requests but say Legend what would you say to a Third Age or Elder Scrolls Total War Campaigns to spice it up? Both are pretty well known Medieval 2 Mods and you like Medieval 2...
h tzak He said in this video that mod campaigns last too long, and they don't perform well in terms of views.
Have you even ever played any of the above mentioned campaigns? They are like 120-150 turns each aka 15 episodes max of the 1.5 hour format he uses and it is Med 2 which he likes...
Situation at Thebes:
-I need more horses
(builds archers)
-Now I need infantry
looks like you needed an army, in the first place.
Wait so how did you get 60fps? Or is it only for YT?
Great vid! How did you get rome 1 to run at 60 fps on an modern system? Please let me know. Much love
Turn off anti aliasing
There's a few hidden units in game files from Carthage/Spain for Numidia
Numidia was fun, if only to prove to the rest of the world they can do it. Not too hard. Desert Infantry + archer stacks + lots of good quality light cav... hard to go wrong with that. Decent temples and tech trees too... alas, only bireme-making ports? WTF man?
They aren't the worst faction. That would be Thrace. *shudder*
Spain is a bit better but only after recruiting Cretans, because having no archers whatsoever really sucks. But damn, those Bull Warriors are hella tuff! Numidia can't beat a Bull + long shield stack with anything they can field. Sadly, Spain is limited by the shitty barbarian culture tree... so that's a factor.
Getting Epona temple level 5 is a fun trick after taking huge cities. Still, I found Numidia more fun to play overall.
I destroyed Scipii first, Carthage second and Rome third. Now Egypt finally attacked me and Brutii, Spain are trying to take back everything, but I won't allow it
As numidia? That's impressive. I'm currently Armenia and taken all middle East and Greece about the march on Rome. Roman armies are really powerful.
How did you set it to be units of 161???
Should have drawn the chariots into the town, it messes with them, with their pathing, which at least is historical, chariots on ancient city streets was a disaster waiting to happen.
Whenever i try to play a non playable faction my game crashes for some reason, except for macedonia and pontus, probably because they have a description, unlike the others, on my other pc this didnt happen :c
it just doesn't make sense to me why you always disable skirmish mode and then move the troops away from enemies manually while they're firing 🤔
How does the Medieval 2 Missile camera work?
delete
great content!!!
I m from Azerbaijan, i love your videos
how can i take the macedonians....i wanna start a new campaign with them,i thought if you destroy the whole faction you can play with them after but i have destroyed them 3-4 times... :(
You're not meant to play as them, just google "how to play all factions Rome Total War 1".
Is it weird that the numidia faction is my favorite
For some reason after like 100 years in the campaign all my settlements riot. How can I avoid this
What happened to beast man campaign?
Oh this could be interesting! Good choice😂
Ik this is an old video I hope you see this as archers and cavarly won't help when they storm your wall you need infantry
