I don't know what it is, but every single stunt person they've had seem to be incredibly charismatic, interesting, and just downright decent people. Easily my favourite videos on this channel.

Scott Adkins is the most underrated action actor and has been for years. Why Hollywood doesn’t use him more has been angering me for decades. He is the MAN
The martial arts movie market is dead now. Not like it was in the 90's.
He’s smart enough to stay away from Hollywood rn. He probably gets paid more doing his movies in other countries

Hollywood already typecast him as “the bad guy” so I assume he’d rather have roles where he can branch out and play characters he wants to be than be the same bad guy who dies in every movie.
He's sprinkled tastefully around hollywood movies actually! I just keep an eye on the bad guys in fight scenes. There's always a Scott Adkins somewhere. Man I love it, it's better than Stan Lee cameos.
Scott Adkins is cool as hell, He's instantly likable and humble but also honest about what he does and knows that he's good at it. Y'all need to get more videos with this guy.
I also liked when he said "If you're a fighter, which I'm not". He is a superb martial artist but also admits that he isn't an actual fighter and respects the guys who are. I have never seen Scott say or act like he is some total badass, unlike some, like Seagal.

I was at a party in the late 1990s and met a Korean guy who did Indonesian martial arts. We were the only ones not drinking alcohol, so we went outside to have a soda and chat. As we talked we learned we both did sticky hands or push hands. For fun, we tried it out to see if our height difference would be a problem. I'm 6'3" and he was 5'4". In 30 seconds we knew we were fine. We got going really fast and just then our host appeared. He exclaimed, "Oh my gosh, it's like there's a Jacky Chan movie live at my party!" Too funny. Then he asked if we would do it in the house, so everyone could see. Rick, the Korean guy, and I looked at each and both said, "Think we could get them to stop smoking?"
We knew that wouldn't happen.
So, we went in and began. After a half hour and a lot of laughter between he and I, we finally got tired. We needed a break, so we went out side for fresh air. Phew!
I never saw Rick again after that and I've never found another sticky hands partner who was as good.
Being able to work in that you had kicked Michael Jai White and Donnie Yen and been kicked by JCVD is pretty awesome too.
Scott is quite a storyteller. and with his voice and accent, every story is even better.

It's really great revisiting this episode after seeing John Wick 4, because here you listen to how warmly Scott talks about the John Wick movies and directors like Chad Stahelski carrying the torch for stunt work in action movies, and you feel extra great about the fact that Scott is actually in John Wick 4! Which is something he's been wanting to be in for a long time. Scott is a legend.
He had a lot more dialogue and character work in that then I expected. Great role and he killed it.

Technically he is MMA guy bc he has mastered multiple disciplines of martial arts . Plus martial arts actors need to work with more intensity with longer duration in show business compared to pro fighter in the show business ..as he said .

Have you ever noticed how basically every stunt performer is always a really nice, chilled out person?
Well, Scott is not really a stunt person even though he does his own stunts sometimes. But stunt performers are not really respected. So, those who are not "chilled" would have left the industry already. They do life risking stunts that might not even be on the final cuts of movies; there is not Oscar for stunts.
Most of long time martial arts practitioners are chilled out people
I suspect you just need a really chill personality to last in a profession where your coworkers will hit you in the face on a not infrequent basis.
It's the same with anyone who do non-competitive sports seriously

Scott is so fun to listen to talk, he’s witty and articulates everything so well. And on top of everything, he obviously knows his shit, and his experience on and off set definitely shows it.

The way Scott talked about his experiences was above and beyond. Just recently found y'all and I gotta say he may be my favorite guest for this series, he speaks with such passion and emotion! It wasn't just yeah this is what happened, it also was and this is how I felt during it! Beautiful episode y'all.

The funny thing is - I remember seeing ‘The Medallion’ years ago, likely as a kid, and I remember that henchman he played because he had a distinctive look - and it’s only now, with Scott talking about it, that I realised that was him ^^;

Hi! Sensei ,good to see you here.
He seems just cool and humble, even stating that he is not a fighter but a performer shows his greatness. There is absolutely nothing wrong about it but others seem to have issues with that. His channel with interviews with other martial artists is awesome as well.

I like how Scott starts to talk mournfully about something, but during the course of his monologue he convinces himself everything's actually great and he cheers himself up by the end of his own train of thought.
Love that Leach and Stahelski got mentions; both were lamenting how modern Hollywood was wasting the potential of their second unit/action crews, until they got fed up and just made John Wick to show everyone how great action films can be.
He's got a great sense of comic timing in his delivery too. Hopefully someone sees this and casts him a new kind of action franchise. Why can't we have an ass-kicking hero with gentle humour? They don't all need to be moody or snarky...
Thanks Scott. I appreciate that he mentioned Extraction, one of the best filmed action films ever made.

Scott Adkins would have been perfect as Kraven the Hunter. I know someone else has already been cast, but he has the skills, the looks and even the Russian accent as we know from the Undisputed movies in which he played the part of Boyka.

I just the article about Scott in the Sept. 2022 issue of Empire Magazine and was blown away! I never heard of this guy before....but now I have such respect for him. ALL those injuries and his commitment to his craft are impressive!

This is the first time I see this channel. YT algo brought me here, and I can honestly say this has been one of the greatest recommendations the algo has given. I enjoyed the video, and Scott provides great funny interesting facts and insights into the world of martial arts film making. Loved it.

I loved Scott's 180 turn when he started talking about the "Golden Age" of stunt work being in the past, but then talks about the new directors coming up from the stunt world and say's " so actually... it's looking pretty good."

It’s also worth mentioning that Scott is also a very good actor, humble, polite and has an incredibly good work ethic. He’s also a big film nerd, especially action movies, and knows the in’s and out’s of filmmaking.
I still can’t believe this absolute unit of a man does not have a leading role in a big Hollywood production.
He was _amazing_ as Yuri Boyka, but overall his acting seems to be hit or miss.
As a viewer, I'm typically one of the last to notice bad line deliveries, and yet with Scott I notice it more often than I'd like.
He's definitely gotten better over the years, though, and I'll always watch anything he's in.

@@Cyba_IT - I've thought about the directing a lot, both in terms of the director getting a good performance out of the actor with proper instruction, but also the number of takes and everything.
Considering Yuri Boyka was my introduction to Scott, I was taken aback by his performance in some later movies. Low budget stuff, though. Movies where bad acting is kinda expected.
