COTR Ep. 36
Those are probably the loudest engines the MBTA has on the fleet, especially that HEP generator.
YES! I LOVE THE GEEPS! Awesome vid Conor!
Thanks!
Adrain
The GP40-2LW's were not made by AMF, they were made by General Motors Division (GMD) of Canada. They also were not equipped with HEP when they were first built. In 1997 CN had a surplus of GP40-2LW's which was why they sold 25 of them. They were rebuilt that same year by AMF and were re-geared for passenger operations, and fitted with a HEP generator, and other small changes.
Thanks for all the extra info! If I make a rebooted series, I'll be sure to include it!
Over Albion street I see these things constantly all though it's nice to see and hsp46 sometimes
0:27 I remember being there a few months ago in New Hampshire.
4:47 there is another one 1129 is now a heritage unit
I heard! I can't wait for it to start revenue service!
Nice Video Conor!!!!!
Thanks!
Just two small corrections about the specifics, the body originally was 59’2”, lengthened by 5’8”, making it 64’10”. And the ‘MC’ denotes microprocessor Cummins. Great video though!!
Thanks! information was a little foggy so I used what I could. I'll include those two notes of I make a reboot!
MC stands for Massachusetts Commuter, not that
@@trainsofboston3492 No
@@trainsofboston3492 I would like to know where you got that from.
@@fitchburgdivision someone told me, I forgot who though
This will help insanely with a project I am doing (MBTA Rolling stock field guide) thanks so much
Glad I could help!
@@conorontherails :)
1137 is now in Mass DOT colors it being used a transfer engine moving equipment between South and North Station
My favorites in the fleet!
awesome!
Thanks!
@@conorontherails no problem
Whats your intro music
correction on the classification nake the MC means moddified Cab
Incorrect, it stands for Massachusetts Commuter
@@bus3805Who’s your source I know it means Modified Cab as they were modified in 1997 when they were being rebuilt
Cool! Too bad the MBTA is broke
Yeah that is true.
MBTA is a great running service
MBTA could buy you mate, screw off
Bruh the MBTA is always late, they take terrible care of their tracks, which always means another derailment every other week, they want to do an insane project which will cost millions in the end and make them go broke, they also bought a couple new cars, when what they really needed the money to be used in keeping the stations and rails still running, cause most of the stations are either covered with graffiti or smell like crap. They made some insane budget cuts a few months ago, which really shows their downfall. I would not be surprised if they went bankrupt and just shut down in the next ten years.
1123 has k5l
FYI it’s emd not gmd
No it is gmd they were built in Canada look it up
Cool. Can’t wait for these things to be replaced
There’s always one it seems.
@@fitchburgdivision ?
You’re hating on this locomotive class. I can see the only reason is because you dislike them is for their cosmetic value.
@@fitchburgdivision yeah. They’re not meant for commuter service, they’re the most unreliable on the fleet, they’re so loud, and ugly too.
You can blame their ugliness on the MBTA for neglecting them (as they do with all of their other equipment), the loudness on their head end power generators, on several occasions has a freight based locomotive been converted to being used for passenger service, but I understand where you’re coming from with their unreliability.
as amazing this video was, it seemed to much like amtrakguy365 videos and was not very original as there are billions of other engines of mbta. otherwise great vid!
I am aware that it is very similar to amtrakguy365's Engines Of Amtrak series, that is why there is something at the end of both videos saying thank you for the inspiration.
A bit stuttery, work on your presentation and you'll get there
