I did a similar thing not too long ago (also for a video). I remember emotions being much more intense all around which was kind of a double edged sword. Hanging around friends was so much more meaningful, but time spent alone was much more difficult to handle. I ended up failing the challenge because my anxiety had worsened which made me feel a bit helpless. Starting the challenge I already knew my social life in real life wasn't in check, but quitting social media REALLY brought to light the direction my future was going in. It's odd how we can know what our problems are and know what we need to do to fix them, but still not feel the incentive to do anything. I credit quitting social media for giving me the incentive.

i was madly addicted to my phone and my 2024 resolution was to get off my phone! i realised that even spending 2 hours on your phone a day is 1/12th of your day on your phone. that’s one month a year on your phone. that’s a twelfth of your lifetime, and for the average person that’s 6 to 7 years. 6-7 YEARS GUYS WHAT imagine if you could add 6-7 years on to your life. you CAN! get off your phone. i did it. you can do it.
I'm usually tough on gen z's but I give you props for this. i left and deleted my social medias (IG/FB/twitter/snapchat) my life changed entirely since left but it wasn't easy for first week and things got better after 2 weeks and later i have more time to do stuff. it was effecting my mental heath. it's been 1 year 2 months, 5 days since i moved away from social media. i only use youtube and external messaging app to keep touch with friends/family and cell phone works different ways call/text/video call etc.
This encouraged me to delete my social media for a long time. (Probably starting next week) I'm 15 and my whole world revolves around social media, but also my friend's, family's, etc. Once a month, i delete instagram and tiktok for a day, and I recently realized that if i didn't have tiktok, my screen time would not exist. It's impressive how everything affected my attention span, social life, and anxiety. Thank you for making me see life from your perspective. I'm really looking forward to seeing your next projects. I suggest you put time limits and slowly start putting shorter limits. Find things to distract yourself. If it doesn’t work consider erasing it or at least keep your devices away. I wish you luck and hope this helped 😊

I think the problem with social media is overstimulation for example i always watched youtube and it never had such a big effect on as from when the youtube shorts dropped in and i hate them nothing else is on my main page and its really hard not to click on one [beacouse there is nothing else on my main page XD] and when you click on one you scroll and boom half an hour gone boom 2 hours gone and the amount of information that you just endured is to much for a human brain. after i watch shorts i fell always washed out sleepy sad [indifferent] new word in english i learnt XD and Dull. And i really miss old youtube with awesome meaningfull content like yours and not these stupid dulling shorts. So thank you for your hard work and awesome content that is entertaining but also shining light on important topics about our own health

Social media makes us believe our features are not enough because there are MUCH MORE people in the internet who have the beauty standards and that makes us feel like we are the only ugly people and also it is really normalized to show off everything in social media like thirst traps are just to show off your body or people showing off their cars, makeup, etc and that makes everyone think they are not enough and their life is not enough which causes depression. I can confirm that as I spend less time using TikTok I felt better and I am more productive. TikTok (as an example) is really addictive since you release lots of dopamine (hormone of the pleasure) in a short period of time. This also alters your brain functioning since you get used to receive lots with much less effort. For example, a movie is longer that a tiktok so your brain finds it harder to keep up with watching it because it lasts so long and because you are used to watching short videos that release more dopamine. This is how you may end up not wanting to do tasks that involve more effort or time and this is worrying. I feel really bad because we are the first generation that has to face this global addictive issue with no restrictions and companies either don’t know how they are going to stop this or don’t want to. There is just no limits and I think this is going to ruin our brains.

I deleted my social media for almost 5 months last year and it was just a great feeling. It was very hard, but it was worth it. But in that time, you realize how addictive social media is, looking for things that influence your thoughts and you're only focused on it and not paying attention to other things. When I deleted social media I was finally able to switch off from everything and focus on my life and other more important things. It's the best thing I've ever done!!!

So for example in this video you could have had somebody who was in the process of doing less social media just like you, and how it benefited them, or somebody you knows story about their addiction to social media.
