She's definitely a lot harder than I remember. Here are some differences I found: -She uses her laser attack early, but only once per turn. In the GBA version, she uses the attack three times per turn and only when she's low on health. -She has a new attack where she slams her arms down at the Mario Bros.. -The flick attack shown at 9:15 is harder to counter. -The lightning ball attack is faster and deals A LOT more damage. -Arm attack is annoying as usual, but she doesn't spin her arms in both directions. -The twin fireball attack requires less jumps to dodge. -Giant energy ball attack deals A TON of damage. I think it's a OHKO move. -Fawful Mirage attack deals a lot of damage. -The attack where she sends red and green energy balls at Mario and Luigi cannot be hit back to Cackletta. -Head, arms, and heart has more HP. -Cackletta now goes into "Rage Mode" where her stats will increase when she's low on health. Oh, and her death animation is amazing as well.
If My eyes didn't get worse over the years and I were able to play this remake. I would've broke my 3DS. I have really bad flashbacks to the original Cackletta's Soul. She was such a pain in the ass. If I could go back in time to 2005 and show my 9 year old self this remake and told myself that Cackletta was even harder. My past self would've turned ghost white. looking at this like it was Satan himself.
That 3D Cackletta Soul model is amazing. I can only imagine what Elder Princess Shroob and Dark Star Core would look like if their respective games were to be remade.
Danny Palin I think the visuals in Paper Mario are good. Stylized minimalism can definitely pay off sometimes (Samurai Jack is a testament to that). That said, I do prefer the M&L visuals. The sprite work is just too gorgeous and it has a lot of elements to it I'd like to emulate with my own art style.
Honestly I feel like Cackletta, while not my villana número uno, is a really cool, active antagonist and has the perfect amount of boss fights. In mainline Mario you'll often fight Bowser either 3 times with each fight being relatively similar most of the time or just once at the end. But here Cackletta hits that sweet spot of 2 fights spread throughout the game, with each fight being very different and actually effecting the story. The first fight being against her normal form when she's cornerned in the Hooniversity after her plan failed. While the second is a more expected battle by both parties where you fight her in a 2 phase battle, first against her possessing Bowser and then her gigantic spirit within Bowser (both forms being a direct result of her defeat and death after the first fight). Also just in a story sense, Cackletta is an unusually active villain, especially for a Mario game. Spending the first few hours of the game flying around causing destruction and gathering what she needs for her plan and then walling herself off in the University as Fawful builds the robots (in most of the other RPGs this would basically be it and is already more active than mainline Bowser). But after being fought and defeated, she is killed and Fawful is barely able to save her spirit by her possessing Bowser. Then she lies in wait, kidnaps Peach, and holds her ransom for the Beanstar pieces (and again, this second half would also be it and is basically how active most PM villains are). But there's this whole back and forth, Luigi cross dressing, Peach is saved early and the Beanstar is recovered. So Cackletta just gives up on that whole plot and just decides to bombard the kingdom into submission even if it means ruling over mostly rubble and dead bodies. Like this is a lot for a villain in a short Mario game. Genuinely like 2 games worth of stuff even by M&L villain standards, besides the length, and I think that combined with her perfect boss battles really makes Cackletta a villain worth remembering.

I think I know what you mean by annoying it happen to me when I was making the last part of this game, after the time bomb-omb kill Mario and luigi, you already know what happens next then the final boss uses spin attack when you 1st get in I was like wtf then die because my jump slow at low hp well they both do but when it was the 2nd time final boss didn't use it ._.
I'm impressed. That Cackletta Soul Model is really creepy looking. Looks more like a Kirby final boss if anything. The whole battle background is badass too.
Cackletta Soul's 2D/3D Hybrid model is weird, should've either been All 2D or All 3D. For those who don't understand what I'm talking about: her Arms & Body are 2D Sprites while the Hands & Head are 3D Models. It's easy to see when she does the stupid swinging attack, the arms never rotate they stay the same (ok, slightly different because of the sprite animations) while the hands actually rotate. Just look at the lighting/shading for her arms and you'll see that they don't change like the lighting/shading for the hands. The head animations look freaking beautiful but the arms & body are distracting to me because they're not 3D Models like the rest of her.

Mr. Yomo Its a joke. In JoJo's Bizarre Adventure part 3, the main antagonist DIO had what was known as a Stand, called The World, based on The World tarot card. When he uses it to stop time, he goes "ZA WARUDO!" and so from then on most games that have any form of time stop attack is referred to as "za warudo", like here where she does it to shoot lasers

@@chaotixthefox I wouldn't say more telegraphed. I would say it's more dramatic, there was a very loud ping to grab your attention in the gba version. I can understand getting hit the first time, but it is blatant the second time when she does that move. The only move that I would say hands down is cruel is that damn colored orb attack in the gba version. Never KO'd on it but I have had plenty of times where that one move took me from full health down to 20 for each bro.
I love how they color coded her hands. It makes it easier to remember which one you want to take out first. The fire attack often gave me trouble in the original game, but it looks like the thunder attack might be harder now.
The part from after Bowletta was defeated to before the bros were eaten wasn't the same as the original. In the original, after the final blow, the music changes to "Touch of Evil" and the bros keep twirling non-stop until the Bob-omb appears. After the bros are knocked out, the music changes to "Cackletta the Fiercest Foe" and Bowletta starts laughing while saying her lines. And the same music continues until she swallows the bros But in this one, after the final blow, the music stays the same and the bros stop at their jump victory pose. Then after the Bob-omb goes off. Bowletta still has her normal face and it starts playing the battle music again. It's too bad they couldn't bring that over from the original since this gives it a completely different feel(in a not so great way). But Cackletta's soul looked awesome.

I’ve never played superstar saga, I have the game, but it was to difficult for me as a child. Can’t wait though for this remake. I played the rest of the games though.
Remember kids for those that played Bowser's Inside Story and Dream Team: Bowser never got the Vacuum ability until the third game and this is the first time the Bros. got inside his body through Bowletta!
I think Bowser always had it but unlike Yoshi, eating people isn't his thing as seen at the end of the game where he was mad at Mario and Luigi for invading his privacy, the Mushroom seemed to control him, and he also had that ability in Luigi's Mansion although technically that was King Boo
I never really liked the Superstar saga + Partners in time sprites for bowser, this just makes it better, so i don't have to look at that weird bowser sprite from the GBA version.
I agree but only for Superstar Saga, because when you compare his sprites for overworld VS in-battle his height is very different lol plus the fact that their resolution is obviously lower that the others.
Not gonna lie, the redesign for the arena, aswell as Cackletta's soul looks freaking AMAZING. I know some people find the 3D/2D model for the soul weird, but honestly, I quite like it.
Yeah they could have done more with her theme but I LOVE that they did Cackletta's Soul justice. Her animations have more personality, like when one of her arms gets destroy. Wonder if she has a special animation if her head gets taken out before the arms...
The animations did lose a bit of character in the remake. Particularly the opening sequence. But the nostalgia of the story and the gameplay just covers it all up!
Dat new Cackletta Soul d'oh! Holy crap she's even more scary in THIS version, and yes, I have played the original version, so this isn't new to me. What IS new to me, is the fact that Cackletta's soul just got a whole 120% more scarier.
I must say, this remake truly does look amazing, and honestly the sound effects for Cackletta's laser attack is truly selling it for me, but even then I do have the tiniest of nitpicks: •The Bros seem a bit less expressive vocally in my opinion [compare Luigi calling Mario's name when he goes down in the original to here] •Going on further about vocals, the lack of the "Yah!" when either one is revived leaves me kind of empty •Also the lack of them spinning when they go down. It seems weird but that's honestly something I immediately think of when I remember Superstar Saga
While it's debatable whether this game matches up to the original, I think it's safe to say this fight definitely surpasses the original, with a lot of nifty improvements over the original that make it even more hard, as if it wasn't hard enough already.
Man, this brings back so many memories and so many nightmares.. looks absolutely stunning in this new art style. Also, I'm glad to see that the advance version of attacks is still here. Fantastic!
After Bowser's Inside Story I think this is the best, despite Bower's humiliation. Also before you get blacklisted by Nintendo, congrats on being first on RUclips to upload the entire boss video.
Also this sucks that they removed the "Bowletta's Anger theme," that really makes me mad, also using Bowser's voice clips during the Bowletta fight is just wrong. Finally, no, not a 3D render for Cackletta, no, she like fine and all but and upgraded sprite would have been better...

Gravity Falls Canada another thing I find REALLY odd that they removed when I played the remake myself is that when you first enter Bowser's castle, there's no cutscene where Bowletta sends out the Koopalings so it looks really out of place when you suddenly encounter them.

GODDAMMIT I LOVE THAT REMAKE! I really want the next M&L game to have bros. attacks instead of bros. items. It really gives you the feeling that Mario & Luigi use their skill in fight, not overpowered items.
This boss got soooooo much stronger. I was playing the original while watching to compare, and I finished before him, and he was on Cacleta's soul when I started.
I personally think that a Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga remake was a great idea, but I am slightly concerned about the future of the franchise. I'm starting to think that Nintendo may be at that point with Mario and Luigi where they start making remakes of every older game in the franchise. Take The Legend of Zelda for example; Nintendo started spitting out remakes of older 3D Zelda games for the 3DS and Wii U. (Thankfully they got back on track with Breath of the Wild.) Don't get me wrong, I would love to see a Partner's in Time or Bowser's Inside Story remake, but I also want Nintendo to keep making new Mario and Luigi games for more hilarity and new experiences. I just don't know which route Nintendo will take with the franchise from here.

The only detail I think Cackletta's soul is missing is her sticking her tounge out, but this remake looks very nice

Mr. Yomo Its a joke. In JoJo's Bizarre Adventure part 3, the main antagonist DIO had what was known as a Stand, called The World, based on The World tarot card. When he uses it to stop time, he goes "ZA WARUDO!" and so from then on most games that have any form of time stop attack is referred to as "za warudo", like here where she does it to shoot lasers

@@chaotixthefox I wouldn't say more telegraphed. I would say it's more dramatic, there was a very loud ping to grab your attention in the gba version. I can understand getting hit the first time, but it is blatant the second time when she does that move. The only move that I would say hands down is cruel is that damn colored orb attack in the gba version. Never KO'd on it but I have had plenty of times where that one move took me from full health down to 20 for each bro.
I love how they color coded her hands. It makes it easier to remember which one you want to take out first. The fire attack often gave me trouble in the original game, but it looks like the thunder attack might be harder now.

The part from after Bowletta was defeated to before the bros were eaten wasn't the same as the original.
In the original, after the final blow, the music changes to "Touch of Evil" and the bros keep twirling non-stop until the Bob-omb appears. After the bros are knocked out, the music changes to "Cackletta the Fiercest Foe" and Bowletta starts laughing while saying her lines. And the same music continues until she swallows the bros
But in this one, after the final blow, the music stays the same and the bros stop at their jump victory pose. Then after the Bob-omb goes off. Bowletta still has her normal face and it starts playing the battle music again.
It's too bad they couldn't bring that over from the original since this gives it a completely different feel(in a not so great way). But Cackletta's soul looked awesome.

Not gonna lie, the redesign for the arena, aswell as Cackletta's soul looks freaking AMAZING. I know some people find the 3D/2D model for the soul weird, but honestly, I quite like it.
Yeah they could have done more with her theme but I LOVE that they did Cackletta's Soul justice. Her animations have more personality, like when one of her arms gets destroy. Wonder if she has a special animation if her head gets taken out before the arms...
Or a comical "WHERE'S MY HEAD?" reaction more likely

The animations did lose a bit of character in the remake. Particularly the opening sequence. But the nostalgia of the story and the gameplay just covers it all up!

I must say, this remake truly does look amazing, and honestly the sound effects for Cackletta's laser attack is truly selling it for me, but even then I do have the tiniest of nitpicks:
•The Bros seem a bit less expressive vocally in my opinion [compare Luigi calling Mario's name when he goes down in the original to here]
•Going on further about vocals, the lack of the "Yah!" when either one is revived leaves me kind of empty
•Also the lack of them spinning when they go down. It seems weird but that's honestly something I immediately think of when I remember Superstar Saga
While it's debatable whether this game matches up to the original, I think it's safe to say this fight definitely surpasses the original, with a lot of nifty improvements over the original that make it even more hard, as if it wasn't hard enough already.

Also this sucks that they removed the "Bowletta's Anger theme," that really makes me mad, also using Bowser's voice clips during the Bowletta fight is just wrong. Finally, no, not a 3D render for Cackletta, no, she like fine and all but and upgraded sprite would have been better...

Gravity Falls Canada another thing I find REALLY odd that they removed when I played the remake myself is that when you first enter Bowser's castle, there's no cutscene where Bowletta sends out the Koopalings so it looks really out of place when you suddenly encounter them.
Now this is what i call a boss fight. It's going to be one hell of a fight.

I personally think that a Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga remake was a great idea, but I am slightly concerned about the future of the franchise. I'm starting to think that Nintendo may be at that point with Mario and Luigi where they start making remakes of every older game in the franchise. Take The Legend of Zelda for example; Nintendo started spitting out remakes of older 3D Zelda games for the 3DS and Wii U. (Thankfully they got back on track with Breath of the Wild.) Don't get me wrong, I would love to see a Partner's in Time or Bowser's Inside Story remake, but I also want Nintendo to keep making new Mario and Luigi games for more hilarity and new experiences. I just don't know which route Nintendo will take with the franchise from here.
