One of the most important moments of the game in my opinion. It gives a more "human" aspect to our character. We learn that the warden wasn't just like "F*ck this sh*t I'm out" when leaving at the end of their origin story to become a Grey Warden and actually lived with regrets up until the Ashes' quest. Maybe the warden was hesitant about whether they could face the archdemon or not. But after forgiving themselves in this scene, the warden finally finds the strength they needed to move forward and accomplish their destiny.

I'm sure it's intentional in a sense that Tamlen's spirit is telling you that his soul is at rest already, and that his corrupted corpse that walks around Ferelden is nothing more than a shadow, a decaying vessel, his soul is not in there.

Tamlen turned into a ghoul, a being that is blighted, surviving the taint and seeks the darkspawn. They suffer a slow painful death, they lose humanity in the process. Its similar to the dark sign in Dark Souls. I believe your supposed to kill Tamlen at the camp BEFORE you go through the gauntlet at haven. It would make more sense, but, I dont tell how people to play the game.

The two continuning parts of this series Dragon Age II and Dragon Age Inquisition don't have an origins story. DA2 don't even have an option to take differend races. You are always the low noble Hawke at the beginning and in Inquisition you can play as human, dwarf, elf and even qunari but your pre story for each race is always the same. Even when you are a mage. And you don't get to play those. They are redy written. Like if you start at Ostagar in DAO.

    • @spacejesus6581

LisDraconis22 no, some of them change depending on if your a Mage, with Elf your the Keepers apprentice instead of another hunter, Qunari you are more respected due to your magic, but Human is the only real change
With a normal human you are a normal noble, but if you are a mage your still part of that family but were sent to the circle at a young age, think Origins Human Mage and compare them to Hawke, Hawke was a normal man/possible apostate shielding their sister, think that as Trevelyn normal, then take the circle mage, sent to the circle very young, both are the same but had very different lives

I loved the comment from Leske... "you gotta go to Andraste with a joyful heart, right? She's like a Paragon for humans." Of all of them, I'd say that the Casteless' was the funniest, but the Human Noble's was the most emotional.

My father died almost a year before this game came out, unexpectedly. So for me Human Noble still rings a bit in there in the feels for me. Much less these days... still is the first origin I played and the one I frequently go back to on replays. Old man was the one that got me into the fantasy genre and into reading as much as I do. So it’s not an unpleasant memory completely. It’s a really old video I know, still my take on this particular part of the game.

And the most tragic and hearthbreaking- Human Noble Aedan for me is very simmiliar to Jon Snow fate (without his bastard heritage) - Killed family, taking to Night's Watch, Figthing with Darkspawn. An that scene - "My dearest child" hit me most.

This was perhaps one of the most underrated things about DA:Origins, that it treated all races evenly and gave you unique dialogue and options specific to your race which gave the game massive replay ability. This wasnt the case with Inquisition which focused mainly on elves. if you played an elven character you were opened up to so much new and unique dialogue and options, with humans and dwarves it was done on extremely rare occasions. And dragon age 2 was...well...pretty shit

I kind of liked DAII much more than the Inquisition. The Inquisition felt so empty and so meaningless. I played hours for those little DAO moments. Like when you talk to the Templar Cullen, or Cassandra. When they siege Haven. The rest of the questing, running here and back, meaningless side-characters. And even that is heavily connected on DAO. For example I really liked how Cullen turned out.. not so much Lilliana. The cities and places were all empty, monoton, and again.. meaningless. 0 replayability. And the fight system with the whole UI!
DA II was pretty weak, sure. But it had great moments, great characters, interesting plots and locations. Things to do, discover, push the plot, visit the characters. I think DAII was centered around a certain family like feeling, Which! You kept losing. Time after time people kept dying you loved.
When DA II came out I thought it was a pretty big letdown, now after Inquisition I think it's pretty good.

I totally symphatized with Jowan, but sure. I think there should've been a chance to not help him at all. ..or make him desperate and pull the guilt on you in a way you actually care.
In case of Trion (played both so many times!).. I didn't really care. He was a pretty okay character, but I didn't had any connection to him. Bellen or his father might've been better.

    • @Kareszkoma
      @Kareszkoma 5 лет назад

Jake, Ye! I mean we know Trion for 5 minutes best. But his dad? He died in guilt and shame thinking that his sons killed each other. His favorite son dead, the one readied for the throne dead. The only one left is a power maniac who will ruin his legacy and the honor of the family.

    • @Kareszkoma
      @Kareszkoma 5 лет назад +5

Absolutely. The dwarves were dying out. He ceased and outlawed in-fighting between clans. Pushed back the darkspawn, new colonies. The surface trade is correct and the low-class have been either recruited or dealt with. The amount of good Bhelen did is just unmeasurable. He is a dickhead, sure. But really?

The gauntlet is one of my favorite places, though. You've had just under a year to mourn your loved one and/or ream yourself over your mistakes. Your character has had time to grieve. Hell, you get it to. I was broken up over Tamlen, man. Now, they come back to your character and reassure them of their path. Give you, the player, something to think about. By this time, enough game has gone by that you're probably attached and so immersed it feels almost personal. Great game.

Kia Maria Origins has set a bar pretty high, some people believe that Inquisition reached it. The characters in the Inquisition are great, there are a lot of companions with unique banter, there are some very hard decisions. But honestly, like a couple of people have already noted, I didn't feel like Inquisitor was really me. I felt more immersed with my Warden, putting myself in the narrative. A reason for that is: Warden is silent. It's just my opinion, but by projecting my voice in my head through the warden by choosing exactly what I want to say gave me more Immersion than auto dialogue from the choice wheel. I liked talking with my companions in certain areas, asking Leliana about the history of that area. The banter is marvelous in DA:I (Sera FTW), the best one out of three. Romance was interesting, I approve of the companions having their of sexual and racial preferences, giving them more depth. Another major thing why I love Origins is in the title itself. Origin stories were unique, 6 different threads tying into a common story. Sure, Inquisition gave us hints about what the Quisy was before the Conclave went all kaboom, but that ruined my immersion into him. I was hoping the final battle in DA:I would do the Mass Effect 2 Suicide Mission, it would have brought a feeling of risk and more care for the companions.
To sum it all up, here's the things that DA:I did wrong (if it had fixed the following things, it would have been my personal favorite - I played through Origins 10 times, DA:2 through 4 times, and I'm on my second playthrough of DA:I, since I got a PC which could run it only a few months ago):
      - No Inquisitor backstory/origin.
      - Inquisitor feels more like a character of its own, than me being the one (like, for instance, playing as Geralt in Witcher you don't feel like you are the one in the story).
      - No Architect.
      - No final mission risk.
      - Hawke was very underwhelming and weak.
      - No healers (like for real, no healing spell? A great shock and disappointment).
      - ''Grab my hand and you are alive'', breaks immersion and dumbs down the difficulty.
Those are the worst things, in my opinion. And these are the best, which makes me love DA:I and forgive it for the previous cons:
      - Great companions in terms of character, banter and romance.
      - Cullen (I knew he would take a major role in Inquisition before it was released, a very well done character)
      - Morrigan. Nuff said.
      - More dynamic fight mechanics (some people don't like it, especially PC users, but I am a PC user and I like the new mechanics, the fight seems more alive).
      - Music, especially bard songs.
      - The actual threat and setup, it's on par with the darkspawn and civil war threat from Origins.

While human noble is heart wrenching, Dalish is also very much so. Personally, I'd say Dwarf Noble hurts a great deal, more so if you actually were the one who killed Trian, to hear your own brother forgive you and grants you his blessing would have me bawling if I was in the Warden's place.
Dwarven casteless is also heartbreaking, more so if you do this part before going to Orzammar and you find Leske being part of the Carta and you're forced to kill him. I wish you could convince him to stand down and spare him, but I guess he just had nothing left to lose at that point, which makes it so much more sad imo.

After replaying the Dwarf Noble again, it's very clear that creatures that prods the thoughts of Dwarves will not be able to do its job properly unless the Dwarf has something massive in its thoughts like Oghren. That depiction of Trian is just so bad, almost as bad as Flemeth in the Fade.
I know that the point of this is to give some reprieve for the Warden about its past, but this is like Kylo Ren "seeing" Han again in the Rise of Skywalker. It's a projection that basically says "I did nothing wrong, I should forgive myself".
I suppose I looked at this as a Dwarf who has a burning hatred for religion and especially the Maker.
