It is the de facto prestige dialect of Malay in Malaysia, and dates back to the Malay Sultanates of Melaka (present day state of Melaka, Peninsular Malaysia) and Johor-Riau-Lingga (present day state of Johor, Peninsular Malaysia and Riau Archipelago, Indonesia), and became the basis of both Standard Malay (Melayu Piawai) and Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia).

May I know this is what people talk to each other daily or just formal structures? As far as I known, they have formal language which only used in books, news... daily talk is quite different. Thank you!
It's formal structures. Like u said, in books , news , etc.Formal in Malay , is like you are using the full sentence of word like: Example for the words "WHERE ARE YOU" Example IN ENGLISH Where u r(short form): where are you(full sentence) Example IN MALAY Awak kt mana( short form in malay. Daily talks) : awak berada di mana( full sentence, formal)
Nope, this is very formal Malay you'll encounter only in textbooks, news broadcasts and public announcements. Even the narrator's accent is somewhat 'crisp' and it is unlikely you'll hear Malay being spoken like in this video. But fret not, Malay is a very flexible language (at least in beginner stages). Even if you butcher up the word order, pronunciation, grammar etc you'll still be understood. Malaysians are also accustomed to adjusting their accents to make themselves better understood. We do it all the time when communicating with people from other regions or people from ethnic minorities. I hope I'm able to answer your inquiry
