@@ST-or1ce It's something to do with how NY had their noses turned up at Hip Hop that wasnt from the East Coast. You'd have to ask some of the older folks that grew up with Hip Hop from around the 80s period when Hip Hop was starting to spread outside of NYC more.

@@ST-or1ce it's not necessarily that but there are a few reasons. One of them being that the East Coast (mostly new York) didn't necessarily respect anything that wasn't East Coast once upon a Time. Some people still feel that way. Outkast got booed at the 95 source awards for example. Pimp c basically felt for the South how black people think concerning black businesses and black owned things. He wanted to make the South a household name in itself. And a few other reasons but that's been the main story since 2000.
