They was hitting then too.
Nas loved and respected Big Pun so much and I always thought that this is one of the reasons why he wanted to do a posse track with him. Every interview that Nas has talked about Big Pun it's been with the utmost respect.

That’s what I tell people. Pun did tracks some countless legends of the game and *ALWAYS* had the strongest verses. I mean Supa Lyrical with Black Thought … like, bro. That wasn’t even close. His list of names he bodied on a track is insane.

Fire
Fire story... I believe every word of it but I think son is mistaken about Pun "making" Nas change his verse. So many artists and producers that worked with Nas are on record as saying that Nas changes verses often. I heard a woo story that Nas changed his verbal intercourse versus a few times and premier is on record saying that Nas changed the New York state of mind verse a few times before he settled on what we hear on the album. Nas himself said that he changed his verse for a song he did with Jay Z... It's just something he does.
Too bad Math didn't ask Canibus for Pun stories since they've been in the studio together and Punisher poke very highly of Canibus and working with him back then... That's the only man that MADE Nas do anything with a verse... His Desperados verse made Nas pull his whole appearance on a song featuring a group he was the leader of. It was unnecessary cause Nas Desperados verse is insane... He went harder than anything else he put out at that time in that deleted verse but that Canibus momentum had everyone second guessing themselves and their bars. Other than that moment Nas never flinched for nobody... He just be changing shit... Got a whole song about him always changing verses on Book of Rhymes on God Son.
On Pun documentary Nas said it himself; ''I have to step my shit up, cause PUN is coming for everybody''. In his own words. RIP PANA. theeee nicest ever. Wepa!
Like bruh already said, Nas said it himself. It’s in the Still Not a Player documentary.

Nas is always 2nd guessing his verses on features. Rae and Ghost said they had to insist he didn't try another verse on Verbal Intercourse.
Pun was tuff, but he wasn't ever what Nas was .
That verbal intercourse verse was 2-3yrs old by time we heard it on the purple tape
@@MrWARBUCKS24 I'm saying, Nas pulled up with verses already in the tuck, but Rae and Ghost told him ' don't try anything else, THAT'S the one right there' . Even Eye 4 an Eye verse that made the Infamous album wasn't the original verse. Nas will try new verses if you let him .
