  • Hello everyone! In this episode, I'm going to talk about how I got the idea of changing careers and how I eventually left my previous job of 4 years. I guess it's an accumulative process and many people are facing this issue as well. This video might come off as a rant but let me do whatever I want!

I also left SQ after flying for 5 years to pursue a degree in NUS comms in 2016 (btw, I also went to South Korea for summer exchange in my last year but at Yonsei haha). As I hear you recount your experiences, I realised there were so so many parallels to mine - from starting uni in mid-20s to the work culture, what we loved and hated about the job, what was our tipping point, the emotional labour, feeling stuck and distant, to anxiously taking that first step out to find out what else is there to learn and experience outside of SQ.
    Thanks for sharing your story!

Thanks for sharing about the nature of a flying job. Now I’m able to empathise more with the cabin crews after hearing about the politics, difficulties in interpersonal relationships amongst themselves especially with the crew leaders. And despite all these they still put up a warm and helpful smile to us the passengers.

I hope to be able to join SQ/Scoot as marketing or design or business executive etc. Any tips on this? I'm looking for a career change. I'm burn out from working in social service sector. I have a very niche degree in one of the allied health disciplines.

Hello Ashley! I think they are actively hiring. You really need to have a strong resume for SQ or scoot. In the meantime you can work for related field companies like Changi Airport or travel agencies? I’m not sure what other tips I can give since I’m also looking for jobs 😂
