I think it became very difficult for Ross & Ed to share the spotlight. No denying Ross's showmanship and talent. Ed's a great songwriter but not a blow em away, rip out a insane solo kinda guitarist. It is quite obvious Ross contributed alot to the great CS classics cause there is clearly not as many since Ross left. Story is Ross hooked up with Ed's wife & later married her. Rough situation.
Joel Kosche was the guitar tech for Ross, I think Joel is really good as well. The reason Ross left was he had an affair with Ed's ex-wife. If you actually listen to subsequent albums and music, you'll notice that Ed reflects this event in his music (Him, How Do You Love, etc). Quite interesting.
It doesn't sound like he's playing angry. It's awesome what he's doing. That's pure talent which shouldn't be held back. The other guy is just an imitator at best.
Me too. I read the entire Anne Rice series, watched Moonlight, Blade, True Blood, and am reading 2 other complete series at the moment. I also did like Twilight, but NOT for the vampire stuff, there was way too little of it for that. But I've been a vampire fan for many many years, and am definitely NOT goth or emo, and it's funny to even think anyone thinks of vampire fans as such. Not that there really is anything WRONG with Goths, it's just a statement and no big deal.
Shane was Ed Roland's drummer on his solo album titled "Anniversary." As you may already know, Shane was kicked out of the band in 2005 for his drug abuse. He said he hit rock bottom in 2009, went to rehab, sobered up, and gave back to the community by giving anti-drug talks at high schools. I'm sure he'd be a reliable performer now that he's cleaned up! But, Collective Soul's new drummer, Johnny Rabb, is a huge talent and really clicks with Ed and the whole band.
@@markshaw510 yeah, I think it’s very unlikely that Shane comes back. At least he seems to be doing well, and he’s clearly on better terms with the band than Ross.
This vid is gr8! I wouldn't have known about them except for my daughter's Twilight cd. Who cares?Even if you hate Tw.-(I'm no a huge fan-I think it ok) They're prob. very happy to be better known & I doubt they turned down the royalties.
Eai Rodrigo! é vc mesmo, não? heheh tome cuidado com os videos... O RUclips tirou o meu antigo profile só pq tinha postado alguns tbm kkk Grande abraço!
He doesn't go off on crazy solos like Ross did. Honestly I'm not that satisfied with Joel's studio guitar work. Its nothing special, but if you see him live in concert a few times, it is pretty amazing what he is capable of.
Because when Ross left, Collective Soul in 8 years had accomplished what many bands took 20+ years to do. They had 4 (x2) (x3) platinum albums, went to woodstock twice, made 15 music videos, produced 5 studio albums, had 7 #1 songs.. the list goes on. After CS, Ross then went into producing and recording albums then did a solo album. Ross drew alot from Ed and even Ed has stated their relationship was a vert McCartney/Lennon-ish relationship in that their creativity drew off one another. Be honest. since Ross left, have they really been putting out the caliber of music they did in the 90s today?
^ Rabbit is my favorite album of theirs, as a fan of the old stuff primarily. Some of their best riffs come from it - Welcome All Again, Dig, My Days; and I love when it speeds up in Understanding. See What You Started By Continuing is also good in that respect, but in my opinion it sounds like it was trying to recapture the sound they had on Rabbit.
Ross doesn't contribuit a lot on CS, Ross was the CS that we miss, today all of us is talking about CS because of talent of Ross. Ed is a very good songwriter like thousans around the world but just a few like Ross can kick a rock band at the top ten.
Oh my god, you need to relax. Don't freak out. And no, emos and goths are not going to be all over collective soul because of Twilight. This twilight phase will pass.
No, Joel is not Ross, but Ross is not Joel, either. Ross's solos grabbed you, but Joel just takes you places you didn't even know you were going to. Both great. Both great with the band. Bands evolve if they are good, otherwise they just become Classic Rock.
Its interesting that goths and emos are listening to this band now.... the main song writer in this band is a heavy duty Christian...save your negative replys I am only making an observation and dont mean to offend anyone.
You can see the lead guitarist trying to outplay the song. His sound is overpowering the rest of the band; it's like he's playing angry! You hear them play this song now - the lead guitar totally compliments the rest of the band. This is a great song, but the video was hard to listen to.
kreamowheat -- you've got to be kidding about Shane. He brought nothing to the band. You could have mickey mouse be the drummer and it would sound the same. Ross I can agree with. Losing Ross definitely cost the band some of their sound and Joel has a different style. I still love them though, and I think Joel does a great job.
Collective Soul still makes great music, though I do miss this era.
I always liked this live version more than the studio version. Just has that raw edge to it.
Always Genius.... always and like always.. Ross since 1993
Excellent album from which it came from (Dosage)in the 1999. Try the whole album, it's great.
gotta love these loud guitars
I love their CD Youth. AWESOME CD!!

Excuse me.
This is Collective Soul.
Nuff said.

I miss their previous line-up..
2020 and their music takes me to the spot where I want to be,
Never liked their "alternative " label, to me just rocknroll
@MamboMick I agree with you, I know he's now a solo artist, But he's only doing small shows.... He's got so much talent and should do something else
Excelente Canción!!!!!!!!!
Quite interesting.
muito boa a música...amei
Lead guitar level : 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

his voice remines of Phil Collins

What is that effects Ross holding, anybody?

any chance of a reunion with Shane and Ross?
I doubt it. Since Ross had an affair with Ed's ex-wife
Maybe Shane, but probably not Ross.
Shane was Ed Roland's drummer on his solo album titled "Anniversary." As you may already know, Shane was kicked out of the band in 2005 for his drug abuse. @hidewoodkid Yeah, after dosage, they pretty much sucked out
shane evans, the original
Well that's the word going around. It could be just a coincidence of timing.

damn what wah is that
@Pyrofries I kindly disagree. I absolutely adore Afterwords and hold it as my favourite album.
He doesn't go off on crazy solos like Ross did. Honestly I'm not that satisfied with Joel's studio guitar work. Its nothing special, but if you see him live in concert a few times, it is pretty amazing what he is capable of.
If Ross is so awesome, then why hasn't he done much of anything since he left CS ??
Because when Ross left, Collective Soul in 8 years had accomplished what many bands took 20+ years to do. oh, by the way... Dean plays an amazing air guitar... :V
Their last album with new guitarist Jesse Tripplet feels as close to anything they've done since 2000. Awesome stuff.
Ross doesn't contribuit a lot on CS, Ross was the CS that we miss, today all of us is talking about CS because of talent of Ross. Ed is a very good songwriter like thousans around the world but just a few like Ross can kick a rock band at the top ten.
Pablo Medina i wonder ross stay what CS now?
Oh my god, you need to relax. Don't freak out. And no, emos and goths are not going to be all over collective soul because of Twilight. This twilight phase will pass.
Yeah Joel is good but....Ross does a steaming turd on him...What were they thinking?...Ross rules
No, Joel is not Ross, but Ross is not Joel, either. Ross's solos grabbed you, but Joel just takes you places you didn't even know you were going to. Both great. Both great with the band. Bands evolve if they are good, otherwise they just become Classic Rock.

Great song but yeah this performance is too wah heavy.
great advertising for the band! its not a bad thing! but it does suck...
You can see the lead guitarist trying to outplay the song. His sound is overpowering the rest of the band; it's like he's playing angry! You hear them play this song now - the lead guitar totally compliments the rest of the band. This is a great song, but the video was hard to listen to.
