It's incredible that the two biggest male stars of the 1930's, i.e. Clark Gable & Gary Cooper, were both born (1901) & died (1960-61), within months of each other! I'm 76 & looking back, I can't believe how short, but significant a life, that these two "Giants of the Screen" had, living to only 59 & 60, respectively! (p.s. I've been to Beverly Hills & Hollywood, a number of times & never failed to see at least one personality, walking in the street!)
Both men were dressed to the nines..appearance was important during those times...look at Gary Cooper wearing an ascot..both have on pocket squares..bravo!!!!!
Great video. It's interesting how these two major stars were able to walk right past all those people and were left alone. Either people didn't recognize them (which is unlikely since they were two of the most recognizable actors at the time), or they were too polite to bother them. A couple of the ladies in the background appear to be looking at them, but nobody is pointing at them or asking them for autographs.
Most of the people in this video were probably studio employees in one capacity or another & were used to seeing big stars. Underneath all the glitz & glamour, Hollywood (especially in the studio era), was basically just another factory town no different than Detroit or Pittsburgh. They employed thousands of people to put out a product. And the public only knew or cared about the top 1% of those whose job it was to make movies.
Agreed. It seems women (particularly in Western society) don't want men like these anymore. More than half of the women out there want to behave and act like men. Feminists have been on a perceived "crusade" to emasculate their men. So now we have a former Decathlon Olympic champion literally becoming a woman (Bruce Jenner). While the tough guys of today are comic book caricatures or ultra-violent foul-mouthed punks and buffoons. Masculine images with style, class, and presence like Gable and Cooper are virtually extinct. Which makes them even more missed and lamented.

Makes my heart flutter, Can you imagine living in a time when stars of this caliber walked the earth, Coop and The King truly unforgettable legends. Im so grateful that we have countless motion pictures and clips from Hollywood's Golden Age, IMO the stars of that era are the only true stars of any era. ❤
Clark walked like he was on a mission, just like he did in his movies. Gary was more relaxed.
What I would have given to have been there! Thank you for posting this sacred masterpiece.
Maria Orsic: yeees, exactly !!!!! Wish I could have seen and heard them
Doesn’t get much more elegant than this.

Thank you so much for this footage. Clark Gable is a true gentleman, and Gary Cooper is all right in my humble opinion.
