Sovcits are the personification of wishful thinking. They hear something that they wish is true, so they believe it. Maybe deep down, some of them realise it's not true but they at least pretend to believe it anyway. Then reality eventually hits them and they get into all kinds of trouble that could have been easily avoided.

@@Morna777Suing your own client is very frowned upon from an ethics perspective. It does happen, but we try to avoid it whenever possible. Usually the set up is having the client put a large sum of money in an escrow or trust. Then the attorney works and following a preset schedule, bills against that account and transfer the proper funds from the trust to their business account. If the money runs low the client is notified and warned no work will be done if it runs out. Once the case is over, if there is anything left over in the trust it is returned to the client. One of the easiest ways to get disbarred is to misappropriate unearned client funds.
And since Rudy got himself dis-barred, you're going to have to come up with some money fast. This is not legal advice but, you could try selling nft you could try selling Gaudi shoes you could try selling knock off Swiss watches failing that you may have to run for president, or you're probably going to jail.

14:58 As a non US citizen, I would like to remind you that most spanish speaking countries don't have the concept of a maiden name. @@isixqueenxofxmadness Well, contrary to religious traditionalists. Marriage originally was all about inheritance and continuing family names. Hell its why marriage as a political tool has been a thing since antiquity.
1:00 Oh! Oh! I can explain that! The mistake people make is ever filing even the once in the first place! You get a summer job as a kid, sign some W2s, report your income, and then your very first time to pay taxes comes along, and you do it, and now there's a brand new account open in your name where the IRS has your info and can check it. But if you don't file, and never have, there's no case file. THEY DON'T KNOW to look for you.
That doesn't sound right at all. When you work for a company, that company files their taxes with the IRS, and as part of that, the IRS receives all the W2s for all of the employees. Because of this, the IRS is always aware of every W2 you are issued, and could technically file your taxes for you... but our laws require us to do it so that turbotax and H&R block can make money off of you.
That might only conceivably work if you only ever work under the table without receiving an actual paycheck. Otherwise they would get your information from your employment documents.
There is one way where you can not file taxes for ages and have no consequences come back to bite you; Lots of businesses here in the US have what's called a tax withholding where a portion of your income gets paid as taxes automatically on your behalf. If someone had an adequate withholding (with or without their knowledge), they could be spending more in taxes than the IRS thinks they need to, in which case the government will hold on to the overage which they send back to you when you file your taxes as your tax return. There's a decent chance that the only thing he's risking by not having filed his taxes for so long is the government having more of his money they're not entitled to than he thinks they do.
Law student here: For story 5, yes is IS absolutely worse to be proven sober. The charges were likely public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and battery. If he was proven Sober, the charges would be escalated to Battery of a LEO which is a felony. In most states, a felony means no more voting, no more owning of firearms, harsher punishment for any future offenses, etc.
That the money you are awarded when you win a civil case comes from the defendant / their insurer If they're not insured, and have no money or assets, you do not get paid. Yes, I KNOW the judge says you get money, but that relies on there being money to pay to you The guy literally thought WE had his money and wouldn't pay him. He heard the judge make the award, so he gets paid that amount. At least 3 lawyers at our firm, the solicitor's regulation authority, his MP, several other law firms, the local newspaper and a national newspaper all explained this to him, (he kept escalating his claim against us) but the judge says he gets the money, so he gets the money, the end.
Ahhh.... SovCits - reminding us that perhaps there *_*IS*_* competition for the flat-earthers... until we are reminded that often enough those are the exact same people.

I'm glad that no one explained to my ex that where we live, not answering divorce papers within 30 days doesn't make it go away or screw your soon to be ex over. Instead, the divorce will proceed as uncontested. My ex was in prison for sexually abusing and basically trafficking my daughter when I served the divorce papers. He had 30 days to respond. I figured he would wait until the last day to drag it out, but I didn't expect him to not respond at all. So the divorce only took 3 months from start to finish. Someone asked him why he didn't respond abd he said he didn't want it to go through so he delayed giving the papers to his attorney. Made things much easier for me!
My dad didn't pay taxes for years. He was just a regular dude who didn't make enough money for them to care about him for a long time. However, eventually they did catch up and destroyed him through wage garnishment. That client may not have been caught yet, but he's playing a dangerous game.
How is it that a person could get away with not filing their taxes for two decades?! I've always been told that if you don't file your taxes you could go to jail!
Odds are guy was not self employed, only had one job, and his employer deducted his income taxes for him. If that's the case then even if he didn't file all his taxes were paid so the IRS isn't going to care. If anything he might be paying more as he might have been able to declare some deductions if he filed properly.
Most employers submit a little more than your projected taxes based on your income to the government on your behalf. Filing your taxes is how you get the difference back as a refund. If you don't file your taxes, you're letting the government keep some of your money.
The funniest thing about Sovereign Citizens is they act like they know enough about law to pass the BAR. The reality is, lets say a sovereign citizen is right fr once, well first they'll need to actually know the law well enough to bring it to the attention of a lawyer, who will then look it over and advise them, if there's any merit the lawyer would probably take the case because a lawyer representing such a ground breaking case is going to end up in the news and have tons of publicity, and then if they win the sovereign citizen can look forward to most likely the supreme court patching the loophole.

To be fair, those payments to the crime victims compensation funds usually ARE pretty onerous. Get out of prison, can't find a job that pays more than minimum wage, the state takes half of everything you make then they expect you to have a permanent residence and not turn to crime to make enough money to live.
I think some (very few) sovereign citizen arguments might have some real historical basis but I can’t imagine why they expect anyone except historians to care.
