- Today we are checking out three new Super Titanium solar chronographs from the Citizen Zenshin collection. Choose from 3 colors; silver/white, light blue and salmon. The dials have an intricate texture that is a strength of the overall collection.
All models have an integrated sports bracelet, as well as a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. And thanks to hypo-allergenic titanium, they are super light, even on the bracelet!

Thank you for watching! - Хобби
Hi Marc,
Writing to you from Japan.
I understand that the new citizen series will be called "zenshin."
In Japanese, "zenshin" can be interpreted in two ways:
① progress or advancement
② the whole body
Considering the context of a watch, I believe "progress" is the more likely meaning for this series😄
thank you so much for that!
Yeah, thanks for the information! 🕐⚙️🍸
I’m curious why they switched from Forza?
Well done and thank you from Sydney, Australia.
@@islandwatch it's the term Toyota uses for the process behind their high quality cars like 4runner and Lexus.
The highlight for me is the mention of an eco-drive islander in the future
thanks!
@islandwatch If it's an eco-Drive movement inside, would the only way to service it be through Citizen?
That would be awesome!
@@Messier31NGC224 I have an older eco-drive citizen watch. I was able to replace the 'battery' myself. It's recommended you wear gloves to not get oil on the replacement battery. It only took me a few minutes and was like 20 bucks.
Citizen nailed the aesthetic. Ecodrive + Ti = Win
Love that spoiler. I, along with many other Islander fans, have been hoping for the Islander brand to incorporate a solar movement. I'm thrilled as I'm replacing my Seikos with Islanders and Citizen watches, so an Islander diver with a Miyota solar movement is exactly what I want for Christmas!
thanks!
Yesterday I noted my barber's watch. It is a gorgeous Citizen, two subdials, at 12 and 6, lovely bracelet, and he has worn it since 1969, and it has not been serrviced once. It is a watch I would proudly own. Don't have a reference off hand.
They have some awesome vintage watches.
Got me the Salmon dial. These are gorgeous. Thanks Marc!
Oh hi Mark! Patiently waiting for an Islander chrono quartz 😊
okay, I'm listening.
Mark, congrats on being the only RUclipsr to wear a glove on each hand! Many wear only one glove then use their ungloved hand to constantly touch the watch😂!
LOL, thanks. Been doing it for a LONG time.
Very cool. Interesting that even a large company like Citizen has issues with names. And like another commenter said, I’m more interested in the Islander coming with the Solar Movement. 👍🏼 Thanks!
thank you
I've never been a huge Citizen fan (more of a Seiko guy) but these watches look amazing. They are making some bold moves in their design.
Bought the blue chrono a couple of months back. The dials really are superb. Way better in person than the camera shows.
Citizen are my go to watches, great quality and pick up and go convenience with EcoDrive
Same here.
they are killing it.
I've got six of them, I'm diseased...😂
The solar diver caught my attention. Looking forward to more information on this coming release.
thank you
What a great thing to do Mark, you are a legend.
Dude. Lately all your videos have been bangers. Keep up the good work
Thanks! Will do!
I have been a fan of the citizen watches for some time. I pick up a Light Blue mechanical with small seconds. In the beginning the watch brands were called Zenshin in Europe and Forza in America. My guess is the marketing team changed the name of the all the watches to Zenshin, so there no confusion to customers.
Cool, thanks!
I like the salmon. I am excited about your Islander reveal.
Mark just low-key drops bombshell that LIW is dropping a solar diver later this year. Give us a beautiful dial, Mark! Citizen has a lot to offer, love the perpetual calendar tech, especially, but agree with you that they lack on the dial designs.
You know the Japanese watch market is grim when you're pleasantly surprised to hear their watch has sapphire.
Bought a Citizen Chronograph (CA0810-88E) with Eco Drive, Titanium body and bracelet and sapphire Crystal two years ago for 270EUR (now 180 over from Amazon) and they nailed the design. Sub dials at 12 and 6, only even Indian numbers and a sunburst dial.
The technical aspects speak for themselves.
Huh. I can’t seem to find that one on Amazon.
There seems to be a number of watch brands that are chipping away at Seiko's pedestal. Citizen seems to be out front of this pack of challengers. It warms my heart. Go Citizen!
So glad the Journeys sold out!
I do like Citizen a lot, and have several of them, but I can't put my finger on what it is about Seiko that I like better. Maybe is mechanical movements.
Excited to see what seiko you bought ! I am paying off a SJE093 and like you I cannot wait to see it in person! Hoping it’s true what they say about the higher end seikos
Looks fantastic. 😎 Well done Citizen except for the 4.30 date window 😲😬
Citizen really does a great job! I want to experience their Super Titanium at some point!
Citizen IS eating Seiko's lunch!!! I have been saying the exact same thing over the past few years! Citizen has been putting out many compelling pieces at great prices recently, including JDM models. Seiko, in comparison, appears to be doing the opposite: it's just coasting on its reputation and re-issuing past models with a big price increase. I have been largely disappointed by Seiko lately. I will definitely buying a Zenshin eventually. I'm not in a hurry so I want to see what other colors Citizen will offer in the future. If the Tsuyosa line is any indication, Citizen might have lots of funky dial colors and designs for the Zenshin line as well!
Love the Citizen 24hr useless subdial. Citizeniscrushingitlately. On Seikos the 24hr subdial is garbage, but on Citizen I read that it's so cool and better, so it must be.
Citizen is also killing it with their new Series 8 model line.
Yes! One day, hopefully.
Hi Mark, I just started watching your channel, you introduce beautiful watches and I bought a Tsuyosa and I would like to say that I am very pleased. This will be relative, but I think Citizen makes more handsome designs than its brother Seiko.
I really like these watches, especially model with salmon dial 🧡
super nice.
I’ve not had good luck with Eco drive both I’ve had lasted less than 5 years, I’ve heard that ya need to wear them daily for best performance?
Earlier this year I got myself a Promaster Land (ref. AT6080-53L) and it's my most comfortable watch. It's also jam-packed with the features I want, including a perpetual calendar. I'm so happy with it, in fact, that I'm definitely getting another Eco-drive in Super Titanium. I don't know exactly what yet, but there's no big hurry. I'm also more interested in titanium watches generally now, and I definitely like to see some kind of a hardness coating (like Citizen's "Duratect"). I don't like to see 2 positions of micro-adjust, though. That makes me wonder if I can fit the watch to my wrist properly. It's just 1 position short of not being disqualifying for me. Oh well, I'm still bullish on Citizen, and I'll pick my moment to get another one. 👍
I cannot do Citizen, ever!
Citizen's are awesome. I own 2, I love them both.
Hi Marc, you're right that Citizen is killing it with these Zenshin. I bought one last month. The textured dial just made me melt and plays beautifully in the sun. I got the eco-drive day date version green dial. The only downside is the titanium case. I love the fact that it is light weight, scratch resistant, but titanium looks dull even though they polished the bezel, it still looks dull compared to stainless steel. I don't know what your thoughts are on that?
Indeed, I have the blue dial version and it's stunning. For some reason I couldn't find any UK sellers though.
These are going to be hard to buy outside Japan/Singapore, maybe the USA. I can buy any Seiko, anywhere. But you know, "Citizen is crushing it lately", etc.
I've been a Citizen fan for the longest time, Eco-Drive watches are perfect. Never had an issue with one and I kinda love the fact that it makes me enjoy the sunny days that little bit more.
That said, I think they're really kicking it up a notch with all the new releases lately: the Tsuyosa is a total hit and I really love these as well.
Here's hoping they bring out a Zenshin without the chrono features but keep that dial and case. I'd buy three
Thanks! They are on their game.
Love your vibe Marc!
I've got the Tiffany blue dial chronograph. It easily beats the Seiko Daytona - there's no misalignment!🤣
When I was looking for this, the name it used was the Forza. Weird that they've switched to Zenshin.
There's a reason I still have 1 Seiko at this moment.... but instead 8 Citz (2 are ancient tech I only buy for learning, the rest I still consider in using)
Nice collection!
"citizen is edging" - Mark
I've tried the silver/white and the light blue on at a jeweler recently. They were really nice on my 7 inch wrist! Although I would lean toward the automatic versions of the Zenshin, these are tempting. Seiko is really moving in on Seiko's territory lately.
And they are quite photogenic.
They're called Forza in the uk
What is the chronograph wall clock behind you? Very cool
Bulova.
I have a sim racing rig, I played Forza and Forza Horizon for hundreds of hours.. really love the game.
This Zenshin/Forza models, not the chrono, would have been in my collection already if I didn’t own the
Satellite Wave GPS Diver 200M
Eco Drive
CC5006-06L, in coated super titanium. The toughest piece I handled and know, by far. Plus the technology involved in this watch blows my mind!
thanks for the info.
Hello Mr. Mark, will any of the Islanders solar divers come on a strap?
If I was in need of a chronograph, I would definitely go for this watch. The white dial. No, the blue dial. Hm. Maybe both. 🕐⚙️🍸
The reflections obscured the dial more than I care for.
they are very nice! thanks mark! i
I would love to see Marc wearing something like a 34mm Junghans. Both the Islander and the Damasco look like dinnerplates on the wrist...Ultra sporty look, but doesn't sit well on the wrist.
I see a Seiko Prospex Pogue on the radar.
Max gain!
Which is the better watch this one or Orient Chrono?
Probably like a lot of people collecting affordable watches I’ve switched a bit of allegiance from Seiko & jumped on the “ citizen “ bandwagon 😮 with so many great releases!!. These chronograph are a great attempt, but to me just not aesthetically as good as the, admittedly more expensive Seikos .....very, very good attempt though 👍
thanks for checking it out.
They'd really eat Seiko's lunch if they had screwed bracelets instead of pins.
So I have the ecodrive day/ date version of the Forza with the salmon dial and I absolutely love that watch. The only two things I would say about mine is the clasp sucks, but works and the stated 39mm dimension is completely wrong. I measured it at nearly 41mm and I expect these are also larger than what Citizen says. Also with mine I had to order it from Poland, for whatever reason the salmon day/ date isn't available anywhere outside eastern Europe, at least that's how it was about a month ago. PS any chance for a blue aventurine Brookville in 38mm?
PPS I bet that Seiko is the SPB473J1 with blue to white gradient dial. In fact I am certain of it.
shhhhhh
Dude I saw the green 3 hander Eco-Drive Citizen and I thought "great now I can buy one from him. Here take my money!" But nooooooo!
sorry!
My problem with a lot of Citizen's latest releases since the Tsuyosa is that they're all too big. Seriously, would it kill them to make a 38-39mm? 39mm especially is such a sweetheart size. Admittedly, most watch companies are guilty of this. Part of why I bought the 36mm Seiko 5 Pilot watch was because it was so small, and I wanted to send Seiko a message that there's a market for these smaller sizes (though, I'm sure it probably fell on dead ears, but oh well).
Those dials are dope.
sure are.
I cant say for sure but there was a similar looking 'Forza' chronograph released a year or so ago by a micro brand, if there is copyright problems I'd guess it would be with those guys.
I'm wondering how this lines up versus the Orient Solar Chronographs.
It's an EcoDrive Prx Chrono! (Albeit much slimmer)
Unfortunately, the three hand version of the salmon dial is exclusive to Europe. By the way, I can't wait for that 38mm Islander Solar Diver. Please offer a quick adjust bracelet for it.
Citizen is becoming the new king of afford watches.
I miss the older orient divers. Would be sweet if they could bring in something below orient star but certified diver aside from the m force series in a more conventional size of 40-44mm
I didn't know that Citizen is a larger company than Seiko. I thought it was the other way around.
Love the (now former Forza) Zenshin lineup in titanium! It reminds me of the dial on my Bulova Lunar Pilot (white panda) but that watch is HEAVY for a quartz. Whereas my daily is a citizen BY1010-81L in titanium because of how lightweight it is. I will definitely be getting one of these. But which color???🤔
Blue!
Lovely, not crazy about the date window location though
At least it's centered!
Hi Marc, interesting fact if you read the product description of the "Zenshin Three-hand" on Citizen's UK website they describe it thus "we present our new Forza Super Titanium™"
Uh-oh, someone forgot to modify the copy before it went live haha
Yeah, very confusing.
Cross shopping the citizen zenshin chrono, Seiko Speedtimer, PRX powermatic and PRX chrono. The PRX 80, citizen and seiko are all similar price and spec (save for the movement type) and the PRX chrono has a super similar look to the citizen. I’m looking for a retro style watch to add to my box. I love chronos and vintage 70s styles. I’d love to see a comparison video of all four I’d Marc is so inclined.
So many good watches there, great point and great idea.
Don’t forget the PRX quartz in both 40 and 35 mm. Thinner, lighter, about half the price of a PRX 80, and keeps better time.
Skechers had a shoe model called Forza, FWIW.
I saw these last weekend and man they are stunning! Just dont understand why the clasp is stamped and not milled 😢. I prefer the speedtimer because its more sporty and this is too dressy, but its a stunner for sure. I am shocked citizen is bigger than seiko! Didnt know that
Probably because it's titanium, keep that cost reasonable.
Beautifull..🤩🤩
Geckota have long made a watch called the Forza.
Witch dial blue or white??
The date should be at 6 o'clock and do away with the 24 hour sub dial. But at least the date is rectangle, The Seiko mas I think had those small circular date and when I saw them at a seiko shop I totally think no way people can see that date window
8:11 Islander solar diver! YES
yes!
Seiko can build a beautifully textured dial, but you'll not see one at the price point of this Citizen.
We are living through an era where most new watches are looking like a Rolex Oysterquartz. That's not a criticism, it's a good look!
What if rolex brought it back
@sami507-m8 good times 😃
Citizen is much bigger than seiko? First time I've heard that! How much bigger?
MUCH
Hope that Citizen Tsuyosa come in asfalteren size.
Crystal looks a bit reflective! A lack of AR treatment I suspect.
Hi Marc.
Maintain your positive image in the hobby by drawing a line between your business interest and your content quintessence.
Best.
I have a metal that shines a green light in the darkness and I cannot photograph it with my mobile phone. The mobile screen becomes black and with the naked eye a green light emits a green light. The density of one of the pieces is 1.0625. Is it tritium metal?
solar?!? details? another ameriquartz build? Thanks!!!
Is it though? It will still be a Citizen on your wrist.
😂 … nice title! “Resistance is futile”
Citizen is making the same mistake as Seiko. Lack of decent micro-adjustments. Only two? It will be hard to get a good fit and this watch is not bargain-priced. I do love solar watches. I have a 25-year-old Citizen dress watch with the eco drive or whatever they call their solar watch movements. It still ticks. I keep it under a lamp to keep it charged.
Um, Citizen has been making Titanium watches for decades, and at an affordable price. Maybe everyone else is catching up instead? ;)
Nice looking watches but they suffer from the same issue that the Seiko Chrono's have: an unnecessary 24 hour subdial. What is the point of this? My guess is that it is a cost thing. For the price, I'd prefer the 10th second dial in that position.
the old 24 hour dial!
No, I had no idea Citizen was bigger than Seiko. I'm actually quite surprised. I thought Seiko was much much bigger.
Yup.
Waiting for Citizen to drop a 36 mm
I don't like the date window....as with too many watches...it is crowded onto a busy dial. I wish they had a no date option. Too many bracelets and clasps are cheaply made at this price point. Do a point by point comparison to Seiko Speedtimer.
Forza and Zenshin both mean to advance forward
interesting, thanks.
The clasp is a disappointment for the price though. The watch looks really good but pressed clasp and 2 micro-adjust?. For that price there should be a milled clasp.
Yeah, but titanium milled?
@@islandwatch Pardon my ignorance as I am not very knowledgeable on materials. Isit because a titanium milled clasp is substantially harder to make than a stainless steel milled clasp? I ask this because brands like San Martin have titanium clasps and even citizen themselves provide a titanium milled clasp for their eco-drive promaster land series.
A solar powered Islander diver? 🤯
Yup
I would pronounce it "Eeee- co" otherwise it sounds like echo but it might just be a regional accent thing like potato potato
Every Citizen I own is better quality than every Seiko I own. I'll never buy another Seiko unless their quality control improves. If Squale, Orient, Tissot can produce quality, how can Seiko not and not be embarrassed about it.
And there's an Islander I'm desperate for but living in England makes buying difficult.
It looks like a Casio Edifice EFB-730D-7AV.
not with that dial, though.
@@islandwatch Of course, but it's there.
This or Seiko Speedtimer?
I am in the same situation! I am considering both!
Milled or stamped clasp 😂
Or Orient
@@islandwatch great options at a cheaper price than both seiko and citizen. But I can't help feel they fall short in looks department compared to them. This citizen and the speedtimer just look too good.
Speedtimer for sure! I own a seiko ssc909 crystal trophy and , despite my automatic preferences, its my daily wear...
Marc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just drop the 24hr compication, put minute complication at 9 and the countdown complication at 3, and the date at 6. Job done! 24 hr complication, really what is the use of that?
what a shocker!!! For over $650 (including tax..etc), it probably has the worst clasp in that price range. Lovely dial, but the clasp really kills it.
LOL. I hear ya.
