Beautiful song. My thoughts on this song are about Ms. Barbara Gibb. The pain that she suffered by losing 3 out of 4 sons and her husband. I can’t imagine all the heart ache she suffered. Rest in Paradise to them all. She’s with her precious family now.
Hi Barbara, I am so sorry to read of your son's passing. To lose a child is the most horrific tragedy for a parent to endure. My heart hurts for you dear. I will keep you, your family and precious son in my thoughts and prayers. May God Comfort you as only He Can. Rest Peacefully in Paradise Barbara's son. xoxo
Barry once said Andy was his “twin” and he looked so much like Barry!! Beautiful song…beautiful tribute…so sad he’s the only one left. Only by his memories.. and wow he has those❤️ Thanks Chad!!!
BB Andy.... What a heartbreak to loose him...!!!! He was a very fragile man..!!! And never find a STRONG woman to be by his side...!! I’m sure if he did, he’ll still be with us... Angel BB Andy...!!! 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
Their mother only died a few years ago. Barry told Ricky Skaggs at the Grand Ole Opry that she felt she did something wrong. Ricky said, you tell her she didn't do anything wrong.
Beautiful expressions to a love no longer present. Yes, this song brings tears thinking of those no longer present. Such a beautiful song of love. The Bee Gees are masters in expressing feelings of the heart. Thank you Chad for sharing this beautiful song. I enjoyed your review of the song as well. God bless
Awww. This made me cry. So many amazing moments. You are missed Andy Gibb. My heart goes out to Barry Gibb. It has to be so hard being without his beautiful brothers. If you haven't yet Chad react to Rest your love. I believe you will love it. Thank you
After all these years I still choke up wondering why and what if they would have been still here?? I know we all have an expiration date, but it is still sucks and damn I can see the agony Barry seems to deal with, losing his handsome and humbled siblings!!
What a beautiful song for our precious Andy so lovingly sung by his three brothers. It's quite appropriately named for it does bring us all to tears just thinking about how he left this world way to soon and also how very sad they must have been while recording it. I'm sure that the brothers had a really difficult time with this song in the same way "Wish You Were Here" saddened them. It's understandable why they could never perform either one of these beautiful tributes at a live event. Just heartbreaking.
This song may have had some undertones of Andy, but the song on that same album, One, that they wrote specifically for Andy, is Wish You Were Here, which I think you have already reacted to.
Maybe my all time favorite BG's song. Incredible humans can pull this off. So brilliant, I wonder how mortals can compose such beauty. Thanks Chad for your deep and sensitive comments, you and your channel are one of the kind.
It's just so beautiful. "One" is such a great album (I know they all are). It feels like the pain of losing Andy brought them together and it was even more cohesive than other work at the time. I believe it was for Andy, but they were masters at keeping the language broad enough for listeners to internalize to their own circumstances. The harmonies are soft and wonderful. The instrumentation gives me a feeling of rain falling. It evokes such strong emotion and loss.
Could be, 'Tears', so it's Barry on leadvocals, is more like his own dedication to his twinbrother in mind, Andy. Meanwhile 'Wish You Were Here', stands for all three of them.
Not sure specifically it was about Andy; however, knowing The Bee Gees ( Barry in particular), it could very well be. If you noticed, in a lot of their songs it deals with relationships and somewhere in there it flips to bring about s woman, but not necessarily so. Barry said in a two part interview with his brothers ( out on RUclips) that there is a lot of introspection in a lot of their songs and if you are just looking for a pop song you will miss it. The back of the album “One” says it was dedicated to Andy.
Andy died in 1988, and ONE was their first album after. I love the album cover, and the statement it seems to make... no color or big smiles, showing definite familial similarities, while looking almost nothing alike. Andy was supposed to join them on that next tour.... The slight gap between makes me think that’s where Andy was supposed to be.
This was a tough time for the Gibb brothers after losing Andy...so in this album their songs were emotionally composed that could be easily traced 😢😢😢😢
Barry has said in many interviews that at the time of each brother’s death that they were not getting along. He says that weighs heavily on him and it is something that he has to live with for the rest of his life. So sad. God bless you, dear Barry.
I made a Bee Gees love songs compilation once, and on it, 'Bodyguard' and 'Tears' are back to back...they sound as though the songs flow into one another. Give it a listen if you can.
I absolutely love the Bee Gees, but when it came to Andy I think they did everything wrong. Barry said it clearly in one of his interviews. Sadly, after his last rehab, the family thought it would be best for Andy to be on his own to adjust to sobriety. However, they realized too late that Andy needed them. Andy was very young when he left school and started his own band, he was 16. As Andy became famous, he was on his own in LA. The brothers knew all about the danger of first fame, and the drug scene in that industry. I believe that had they been with him he would still be here today. Barry was very close to Andy, he would have noticed the addiction right away. I do not blame the Gibb family in any way at all. They all adored Andy, and while growing up the brothers made sure he had everything!! The love they shared was beautiful and his death crippled the entire family. RIP Andy....xoxo
Beautiful song ❤
Barbara is now with her family
❤Hugh ❤Andy ❤Maurice ❤Robin ❤
I remember hearing Barry saying they couldn't sing in concerts because they would just cry.
I shall never forget the loss of the wonderful Andy. Such a wonderful, good-looking singer! RIP Andy 💖💖💖
Beautiful and written after Andy died. Such a huge loss. Wonderful tribute!
Barry at the end wiping away his tears did it for me. What a beautiful song to dedicate to their brother. And now so relevant to all three angels.
Beautiful song. My thoughts on this song are about Ms. Barbara Gibb. The pain that she suffered by losing 3 out of 4 sons and her husband. I can’t imagine all the heart ache she suffered. Rest in Paradise to them all. She’s with her precious family now.
She was blessed with such a beautiful family ❤️
I can not listen to this song without it bringing tears. Beautiful lyrics and melody. "Keeper Of My Flame"
Andy was a lot like Barry. He made it big in his short time with us. I'm so honored I got to see him perform. Love the Bee Gees always!
So many tears and sleepless nights losing my son. First time I’ve heard this song. So true.

Barry, Maurice and Robin wrote this song for Andy after he passed away and then the song was a tribute to Mo and Robin.
