In Iran We Call this Fruit "Zoghaekhte" and We use A Lot of in Our Food and has Very Sour Test This Plant Is Native Of Southern Europe Caucasus and Iran
Thanks for the firsthand experience. I was just speaking with someone from Iran the other day and was very exited to tell him that I am growing this tree.
Choke Cherry you can eat right off the tree when they look ripe. They are not very sour but can be bitter. Cornelian Cherry(which is a Dogwood) is very sour and not bitter.
With mine, the darker the sweeter and milder they are. I have grafted varieties that have just started fruiting this year. Two of them are extremely good and very much like sour cherries but without the disease and bug problems. I also, like him, wait until they fall off the tree and collect them from the ground.
Thank you i harvested some from my tree, thank you so much, and just as you said the one on the ground was sweet... long island ny
My mouth is watering as I'm watching this ;)
I have two seedlings of different varieties started hoping to make jelly in a few years!
