Mom got her inspiration from hearing the details of my daughter's horrific car accident. My daughter broke her femur from the impact. The orthopedist (bone specialist/surgeon) said he'd never worked with a patient with stronger bones. My daughter had been active in high impact sports: dance, gymnastics, and all-star cheerleading. The doctor suspected this was the reason her bones were so strong.

I am 67 years old. I have had a DEXSCAN every two years for many years. My insurance has always covered it because it is considered to be a preventative. My last scan was in 2019 in Nebraska. I moved to Missouri later that year. It is now 2022. I asked my current primary care nurse practitioner if she could order a DEXASCAN. She said she could not order a scan unless I agreed to take a bisphosphonate. Very suspicious. AMA requirement? Or BIG PHARMA? I refused. In my opinion, they are poison. I made an appointment at an independent imaging office for this coming Thursday. Cost is $50. on the day of service. Cheap enough.

Wonderful info.!! Plz be sure to take Vitamin K2 [Menaquinone]. It is a fermented substance. Mk7 form.
May want to watch "The End of Cardiovascular Disease & Osteoporosis", by John Whitcomb MD
In a nutshell, we have 2 proteins in us, just waiting to be activated by 👉 K2.
1st Protein, OSTEOCALCIN. Directs calcium into bone matrix. Without K2 - calcium Never goes to the right place, rather circulates in blood.
2] Protein is called Matrix Gla which pushes or prevents Ca from going into soft tissue & arteries.
That's why there is the cardiology diagnostic test called: CAC Score, Coronary Artery Calcification score.
But, there's no 💊 Rx to clear out calcification other than surgery.
Crazy why measure it & not offer solution Such as Menaquinone.
In Japan, fermented soybean called Natto, has the highest amount of K2.
Its smelly stuff & must have a taste for it. Nice thing it comes in capsul form.
👉 Well, the Northern 1/2 of Japan eats Natto and has low rates of hip fractures, unlike the South part of Japan that has not acquired a taste for it. 🤷🏻🤷🏻.
Lastly, K2 is no trend or fad.
3 Major studies verification, came out it 2017 called the Rotterdam: 4,000 ppl over 10 yrs. ✅✅

The most important point that was omitted here is that people need to move. Bone growth and strength occurs when stress is applied with muscle movement. Many health problems are related, or at least compounded, by a sedentary lifestyle. Walking around the block is not enough. Full body workouts incorporating weights is best. Running and jumping stimulates bone density and strength. You have to work your upper body as well.

After a decade or more I realized that if the calcium supplements were in all tissues of my body then not only my bones but my heart (muscle ) would be affected.
Due to chronic back pain I was desperate and tried dry needling with a therapist who also advised stretches. I supplement with eggshell calcium I make with pastured eggs that I dry and sterilize in the oven. Then crush to a powder with a little coffee grinder. Take with water up to a teaspoon a day. 1/2 tsp is 400 mg of very bioavailable calcium. Directions are on the internet. I have to say here that keto for over 5 years damaged my thyroid, weakened my bones and raised my blood pressure. IF encouraged undereating and I began to gain weight. I have stopped low carb as our bodies first must use glucose for energy. The secondary method is creating glucose from a stress pathway using stress hormones of cortisol and adrenaline. That puts stress on your body and brain and takes what it needs to make glucose by basically eating your organs and tissues-thyroid, liver, brain function, arteries, etc. it’s ok for awhile but caused damage after so many years. My functional medicine doc didn’t even know this after I spent upwards of $8,000.00.

Absolutely. For Forty years I've been telling friends of mine that they were doing their children a great disservice, if not killing them. The latter part I didn't tell them, but I wanted to. They put their very young children on a vegetarian diet. I told them that that was like giving them Cyanide in their formula. Young children, and for that matter, all children need animal protein to grow and flourish. They told me that I was out of my mind. After being treated like that, I gave up. I also had friends and family ask me what to do medically. After hearing my opinion they ended the conversation and I didn't hear from them for some years.
You try to do something good for people and they treat you like the plague. I didn't volunteer my help, they asked for it. I put them into my dead file.

I just want to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you for doing what most doctors should do but won’t. You try to get to the root of our health problems and guide us to healing ourselves. I recently started a Keto diet. It’s still a bit of a struggle but giving up is not an option. I’m a FORMER smoker, high carb eater and low physical exerciser. Because of the high level of poisons I have put in my body for 66 years, I am now fighting cancer, diabetes with neuropathy and hypothyroidism. I’m on immunotherapy for the cancer (already had chemo and radiation). Metformin for the diabetes and Levothyroxine for thyroid. The cancer will go away, of that I personally am certain. Eventually so will the diabetes and hypothyroidism. But I’m going to help my body heal by stopping the ingestion of slow poison. This is for the whole community. The only problem I have with Keto is trying to keep carbs at 20 or less per day. Any suggestions? My body tells me in no uncertain terms when I have gone over the 20 carbs which happens everyday.

I did it gradually, but one day I was having dinner with a friend who was eating bread. I had zero desire for the bread. It was shocking to me!!! You can do it too. Good luck and keep up your positive attitude. Blessings to you.🙏🌹🕊

Here in New Zealand, the doctors would probably recommend eating plenty of dairy food to get enough calcium. I've never been a fan of milk on its own, but I enjoy cheese, and have cream, sour cream, cream cheese and yoghurt from time to time. I see no problem with eating these as part of a proper human diet.

    • @Fighter4Street
      @Fighter4Street 9 месяцев назад

Dairy is what actually causes issues with bones, the high calcium which humans never evolved to eat, causes bones to literally wear iut as the calcium needs to be buffered in the bones after eating as to not cause too much in the blood. I stopped eating dairy because of this. I eat almost no calcium, just like asians do and who dont have all these bone issues like dairy eating westerners do.

This doctor is so right. NOne of my meat eating friends have broken any bones, yet three of my vegetarian friends have broken their wrist, or arm bones from falling just from their own height - this is not how bones work: Fractures occur when one falls from a height, not from ground level. I'm 77, have eaten red meat all my life, take tumbles all the time and even though I have been labelled as having osteoporosis, I have not broken any bones - no fractures either. touch wood. I do take a mild bio-identical estrogen, called estriol as well as progesterone and think that those may be helping. But, definitely you need meat, red meat provides carnitine which is a muscle building which bones need for their support.

Staying away from dairy or high calcium is a must. This may be the reason why western countries have all these bone issues while other cultures who don't drink milk do not have issues. We never evolved to process foods with so much calcium. What happens is the calcium need to get absorbed into the bones then removed causing the cells to literally wear out that build bone. I stopped all sources of high calcium for years without issue, diary calcium levels are just rediculous and overkill.

You didn't mention hyperparathyroid disease, doc! I'm in the process of doing the last imaging tests before surgery and thank God, I did my research. My endocrinologist was giving out of date information and wanted me to take Fosamax! He was dragging out the testing and appointments. I'd still be waiting for another test if I had let him tell me how to handle this disease. We patients have to educate ourselves and I thank you so much for providing the studies that we can take with us to our doctors. I was also told not to have too much salt because I have diastolic heart failure. Thanks to you, I ignored that advice. Lay on it Fr tailbone up your spine & then slowly spread your arms out to side, like on a Cross. It helps core…haha trying to stay on it and the stretch is amazing. Ask your PT specialist about it. The rubber bands were essential as well.

First, some background: I am 73. All my life I have ignored the warnings against meat, fat and salt. But I was also eating carbs. And I was over weight. Eighteen months ago I gave up the carbs and started fasting but kept everything else the same. I went from 200 to 120.
The accident: Last week I bought a sofa bed. As I was unpacking it, the strap holding the bed in the sofa snapped and the frame of the bed shot out like a cannon, hitting me squarely on both knee caps. I went down on the floor holding my knee caps and screaming. The pain was unbelievable and almost unbearable. But after a time I rebounded from the initial shock, and I realized nothing was broken. I was glad of that but expected at least some contusions. No, no bruises, no broken bones, no swelling, nothing…the next day it was like nothing had happened. I have great bones! So glad I ignored all those warnings and gave up the correct macronutrient! I feel younger, stronger and healthier than I have felt in 35 years!

You once again hit it out of the park !
You got me into Keto along with Dr Berg , I am thinking I am stalling a bit so th shake it up I am going to try
Beef, Bacon Butter and eggs that’s it , I think it may help with that last 10 to 15 pounds I need to shed. It will no doubt drive my goal cholesterol and LDL way up which is good because I like to give my doctor an apoplectic fit every now and then

You may want to give reducing fats a try to get your body going. Rotate days of lower fat with moderate fat. Increase protein. If you are in ketosis, eating low carb, using fat for fuel from your body, then you do not need to add excessive amounts of dietary fat to your meals. When you get to your goal weight, you can add back fat to stop losing fat. Never go below 40-50g of fat per day.

Fat doesn’t drive up ur LDL
Wait 6 mos after ur finished losing wgt then go get a lipid panel
Then tell ur dr u lowered it all & lost the wgt & maintained it six mos now By Eating FAT
That will cause a fit like you don’t even wanna know! Lol

I found out that dairy was a huge cause of inflammation and what made me cough up thick mucous from my lungs. I gave up all carbs (except raspberries, strawberries and cranberries (nothing added)) still wasn't enough to lower my type 2 diabetes, giving up dairy was the other 1/2. Primarily carnivore, 5% keto.

I've heard that osteoporosis is a hormonal deficiency, that post menopausal women should be on HRT to protect their bones. Many women have exercised their whole lives, don't have sugar in their diet and eat a diet of unprocessed foods. My age of women, were told not to do HRT after menopause and so their bones got weaker. They say you can't fix it with diet and exercise because it is a hormonal problem, not a dietary problem. The HRT therapy is not for me, that boat has already sailed. What to do now?

In 2016 I was diagnosed with Osteopenia, which is early osteoporosis. Dr gave me a script for fosamax. I went and studied on it. Read some reviews from other Drs. It makes your bones HARDER not stronger. If you break a bone the bone can shatter instead of just breaking. It's worse than a break. Also you can get bone necrosis from taking it. Death of a bone. Pics of people's jaw bones after using this drug. The side effects sound as bad as the disease. So I didn't take it. My Dr never asked me if I took it because I mentioned the fosamax side effects and she said that was rare. So I think she knew I wasn't going to take it. Consequently I discovered cigarettes and cokes are detrimental to your bones(duh me). I finally quit in 2018. 3 years later in 2021 I had another bone density test. It was no better but it was no worse either. Stable they said. So in a couple of years when I have another test and I have been on keto/carnivore for a bit longer ( I started this year) I hope to have a great result. It could happen!

So, question: I am 62 now, diagnosed with very, very advanced osteoporosis 9 months ago. Got the scan because I was having so many problems with my back ("out of the blue", was never someone with back issues,) though I still was skeptical that it could be osteoporosis. Now I think it's safe to say, after 3 inches of height loss (one inch just since January,) that fractures were happening for awhile.
I've struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember, started Weight Watchers at 13, developed an eating disorder (they call it "intermittent fasting" now, basically I either ate everything I was going to eat in the morning, didn't eat the rest of the day, or, I'd binge for three days, not eat for the next four,) never got thin, though, have always been bigger boned and heavier muscled with a substantial layer of fat, which is annoying, and has kept me chasing a lower weight...unto this day, and maybe even more so since Hashimotos came on the scene about 15 years ago.
Do you think my eating habits/early semi-extreme dieting are a factor in my current horrible bone health?
I've now seen several medical professionals r/t this new condition, and maybe they figure the ship has sailed, no point in looking back, but not one has asked me about my dietary history. I'm still in the "healthy" weight range, but just barely. Maybe they figure "obviously she eats, obviously she doesn't try to lose weight, or she'd be thinner." Where reality is, now that I'm three inches shorter, I actually did fall into the "overweight" for my height category, and I guess my default is, as it always has been, "Lose five pounds, you'll at least LOOK better." (And I did lose--I've lost over ten pounds, and I do feel better, but...at what cost??)
Edit: I do love salt, never have gone low salt. Also do eat animal protein, but it is very possible I don't absorb anything very well. Seeing a naturopath, she had me do a metabolic panel, found I was low in B vitamins, still not sure why, and high in everything that suggested I don't absorb/metabolize anything well. Working on that, for sure. Only evidence of change so far, I started taking Vit D with cod liver oil. (I'd been taking 5000 iu of D or more since covid, and wasn't "low" (depending on where you think we should be,) but wanted to get over 50. Welp, after just a few months, my Vit D was at 107. Whoops! Apparently, taking it with fat does indeed increase absorption. I actually lost weight when I went on Whole30, which was crazy, never had I eaten so much fat for so long (probably averaged 70% of my calories from fat,) never mind lost weight eating 1800-2000 calories per day. That was amazing...I've lived my whole life never feeling I got enough to eat (unless I binged, stretched every fold in my stomach out,) but on Whole30, I did. But, I also developed "burning mouth syndrome," now, I think. glossitis shortly after starting Whole30. I don't know if it's a nutritional deficiency, or what; it's been going on for several months now, haven't seen a doctor about it, but see my dentist in three weeks. I can tell you, this is one of the most annoying things that's ever happened to me, as now even my own spit tastes metallic, and though I'm still eating, it really makes me not want to bother. Any thoughts on what might be going on there? I've never been more nutritionally beefed up, you could say. This started before I started taking B Vits and the Bs haven't fixed it. Zinc hasn't fixed it. I DO have good oral hygiene (I think my receding gums might actually be less recessed, if that's possible.) I did also start wearing a mouth guard in April, but I quit wearing it, just to see--still not better. Rinsing twice a day with a mouthcare mouthwash. (It feels good, stings real nice--stronger than my own burn--gives me some mental relief, anyway.) Seriously, it's super hard to figure out how to be truly healthy. 😢😢

I always refuse to do it. I do have a little high blood pressure but that is it for me and I'm greatful for my health and it is because I listen to you all the time and follow all you say I do eat a lot of prunes. I have heard they are great for making strong bones and if not they are good for other things...God Bless you Dr. Berry.

I found that 1/2 tsp in 16 oz. water, when low in salt, tastes slightly sweet. The Lowe I am, the sweeter it tastes. The same with magnesium. When I’ve had enough, it begins to be very slightly bitter in the very back of my tongue. If it tastes like that, I don’t drink it, because I don’t need it.
