    I've been using these Godox lights for a while now in my studio and on a few sets and they've held up very well. They have a ton of power, are very clean at CRI 96 and the fans are surprisingly quiet. If you're looking for lights for your RUclips studio or your creator workspace, these will do nicely!

    Hi this video was exactly what I needed but I've got one more question. This fan noise seemed to be a decent bit quieter on the SL100bi with only a very little brightness deficit at 100% - however I was wondering how the brightness and fan noise compares at, say, 60 or 70% and is there any major color shift because of the dual LEDs?
    I already ordered the SL100D for a very low price but it won't arrive in time for a shoot. Now I'm thinking about getting the 100bi for just 40 bucks more but I don't want to sacrifice brightness or light quality just for the option of going for lower color temperatures.
    Also as a general feedback: it would be great to get chapter markers to see exactly what happens in a video. Also helps RUclips recommending your video when someone looks for "SL100D vs SL100bi fan noise" for example.

    Hi Philip, informative video. LED are becoming popular with stills photographers but nobody ever gives us guys the info we need. What kind of exposure can I get at 1metre, 100asa and a 1/250 sec shutter and how much light do I lose in a 40 inch softbox for example for the stills photographer
    Would appreciate your advice on this topic, it would also make a good follow up video.

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  2 года назад

      Hi Mike, these leds are great! I measure everything in Lux, I did drop some readings in this video. I'm pretty sure you'd be fine at those settings at that distance, pretty wide open of course.

    Looking to upgrade my setup, needed a light. In the past have used cheap halogen work lights on DIY stands. It worked, but it was so HOT, looking forward to upgrading to a proper LED without breaking the bank. Went from the SL60W to the SL100D thinking it was worth the upgrade, now the SL100BI seems like the perfect option.
    With my small space that is my recording studio, my office, my server room, my music room, etc. The softbox might be a bit large, have a good umbrella recommendation?

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  Год назад

      Most Neewer umbrellas are good, I have a few, they stand the test of time, or bounce that sucker off a white ceiling, or off a piece of white Styrofoam, that'll be the most compact and effective way.

    Hello I hope you can help me … I’m starting a 3 HOST podcast and I’m thinking either buying sl100Bi or the La150 … both with the Godox lantern … normally I would go directly for the 150 « more power maybe for other usage » but the fan also is an issue I think more than the sl 100 … is the 100 enough to light 3 people or should I take the la150 … great review and thank you in advance

      These have a few things I love. No control box OR power box, similar features like FX and app, and a ton of power. It’s a hard choice Aran, these are very well priced though and as you can see as a budget alternative do a fantastic job.

    Hey there Philip! I hope your daughter's doing well now! Anyhow, my question to you is, I've been considering the SL100D and I wonder how it stacks up when competing against the sun (in serious midday sun backlighting, and also under the shades), I wonder if it's got enough power to allow me to at least get a decent exposure without blowing up the background to pure whites? Thanks!

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  2 года назад +3

      She's looking better, thanks Kendy! It would have a hard time against the full sun, in the shadows, it'll do a good job, but against the sun you'd really need to at least triple it's power, a 300w/600w light sure, it'll help you pop that sky, but a 100w would have a real hard time unless you're crazy close to your subject.

    Hey Philip , i just bought the sl 100 bi and do you think is it enough to light real estate photography ??

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  Год назад

      Well, it's good in that you can control the temperature of the light for different times of day, but it all really depends on how you shoot real estate, if it's filming, then sure, it's a great light, if taking photos, in my experience of real estate photography, I myself, and many others use flash bounced off walls and multiple exposures + Photoshop blending to evenly and naturally light an interior, but like I said, everyone has a different style. So it really depends on how you're looking to attack the scene.

    I feel bad for Godox, the new Amarans are going to cannibalize the sales, just the software alone is worth that little extra investment (Sidus Link is such a great app! And software does make a difference). And not to bite your elbows down the road the 200 d/x is probably the way to go, even when hurting for money.

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  2 года назад +1

      Well, I think people who are invested in Godox will stick with them, same goes for Aputure as both have excellent build quality, however Godox offer fully metal bodies unlike Aputure, the apps are on par and have practically the same features and allow you to fully control a huge set of lights. I own both and regularly reach for them all, not noticing a jump in quality between them. The bottom line is both companies produce superb lights and I'm happy using them.
