That's a really cool choke knob actuator neat I am getting my grandfather Ryobi weed trimmer it's a 4 cylinder one. Not really sure why my Grandpa bought that kind he always used to have 2 cycles engines. But I guess he didn't get time to stabilize it and fog the carberator. He passed back in 2016. But thanks to all of your many videos I am very confident that I will definitely get it running again. I definitely have to replace the fuel lines ones really old but the other one was replaced but I don't think it's the right size because fuel comes out when you try to prime it. But again thanks to your videos I would have sealed it with apoxi or something. But now it's know need to replace both of them.
Great job, Inside House Garage! If co-workers ask what you typically do on weekends, just say it involves carb spray, fuel lines on a trimmer, and revving up your Japanese turbo car. Why?! It's your safe space. If they don't like it then too bad.
So, an easy one for a change but still good. Unit appears in good shape so worth the effort. I'd accept it but not if required to use the shoulder strap. My old, ooold, Poulan is heavy and tiring to use and is intended to be used with a strap but too cumbersome.
I have a homelight zip start string trimmer that has a problem with the idle and a broken head. I haven't gotten to the carb going to try today. Great video I'll use this for future projects later down the line.
I've just discovered your channel and have been binge watching videos one after the other as they come up in my suggestion box. I am definitely subscribing. I have recently started getting into this hobby and was wondering what parts you would recommend ordering to have on hand? for example, which metering diaphragms and primer bulbs are most common, etc. Thank you so much for sharing these videos!
search for variety pack, of metering diaphragms, it should have 3 or 4 different styles. They are only singles, but this will get you a start, and then you can decide which ones, you need to keep on hand. And thanks for watching, I appreciate it the time you spend on them.
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE yeah same here and the vertical fuel tank and spark plug at the bottom is useful for some people on the older designs of these things and at least it makes it very easy to re-fuel up etc.
I am not to find with the ryobie series of gas string trimmer or blowers, they are trying rally hard with their electric line up. I do ay their new dual blade mower is very nice. Hope your day is awesome, and have a great weekend.
My tip for disassembling small parts that are prone to hand grenading is to disassemble them inside of a gallon or larger sized clear plastic bag. Then the scattered parts remain in the bag for easy retrieval.
Great video thanks mine revs good only bogs down when i hold up to try use it trimming bushes in upright position lines are fine even full tank of fuel still the same any ideas please
I have a Ryobi SS26 that I bought new several years ago. Had I been paying attention I would not have bought it. It is overly heavy and the balance of the machine plays havoc with your shoulders and back. Carb problems abound and it always seems to need hoses. I have replaced and rebuilt the carb several times but it is always out of adjustment. I would not suggest the machine to an enemy. It just sits in my basement these days as I went to a battery operated trimmer. Quiet, efficient and lighter. The main drawback here is battery life so I bought extra batteries.
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE $49+ plus change. I took the electric route because of heart problems and cancer. To old and feeble to pull starter ropes now. I bought 2 extra batteries and one came with the trimmer so total of 3.
hi...i have a ryobi full crank, it has good compression, it has spark, i put a new carb but still not star. if it does start it bogs down..do you now what it could be?
did you happen to look at the fuel filter in the tank? if it's really old, it could be restricting fuel flow and causing it to bog down. Otherwise you might still have to adjust the new carb. you might have to turn the L screw counterclockwise a bit to get it to not bog down. Have you also checked the spark arrestor screen?
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE thank you for reply so fast...yes the fuel filter is new as well. i think i found the prblem...i put a new spark plug and start on the first pull
So I have a old poulin wild thing chainsaw that I bought a aftermarket carb for. I got it running and idling but it seems to smoke a lot more than it should when it is cutting. It also don’t like to idle very well after cutting. What should I do. It has 130psi of compression.
I also tried to turn out the h screw but that messes up the idle for some reason. Overall it is very inconsistent. That may be due to my lack of experience with chainsaws
are you making adjustments larger than a quarter turn? yes even though there's an L and an H screw, they do effect each other to some extent. If you're into audio equipment, it's like a 2 band equalizer.
Do you have a video with checkvalve Flaps not being OK? Or could you make one? i saw dozens of your videos but it´s always been in good shape. Wonder how a bad one looks actually.
that is a good point. No I don't ever recall doing a video with a bad one. I do have a few old carbs that I think have bad check valves in storage, let me see what I can do.
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE Great! And by the Way, keep up the good work. Your videos enabled me to repair a husqvarna chainsaw and a cheapo trimmer as well a Stihl trimmer which were suffering from clogging and bad adjustment. The Stihl trimmer also had a broken Piston Ring. Now they run fine. Thank you bud!
That SS30 looks nothing like my SS30. However my issue is that it seems to over heat and shuts down after an hr or so of steady usage. 15 minutes later it runs fine again before stalling again. Any known reason or suggestions to prevent this. Or is this normal for Ryobi?
I'm going with a gas cap, that's not venting air properly. Try using it, and when it shuts down, open the gas cap, press the bulb a few items, close the cap, and then try starting it again
I have a Poulan pp335 and the throttle trigger appears to be locked or stuck because it won’t move. There is no lockout. I am about to take it apart and look but I’ve never heard of this happening.
you mean, that you can't squeeze the trigger? Make sure you can move the throttle lever on the Carb first, because theres a good chance, it's what's stuck.
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE once again. Thank you for your videos. I just fixed my trimmer by some simple carb maintenance and adjustment of fuel mixture. I am going to repair the second old one which I was afraid of repairing. It will probably be also only carb issue because it was not used very often and has great spark. I am very happy that i managed to fix it myself and probably the old one will be selled instead if thrown away
I wouldn't. Brake cleaner is mostly made to take off solvent and grease. Then the metal is naked and likely to rust. Good for brakes. Not for carb's. I first use vineager then WD-40 general purpose lubricant.
I suspect that you merely needed to do a mixture adjustment which you skimmed over after a carburetor rebuild involving money in which I didn't even see you blow out a single jet (big red flay), trim line replacement, etc. Maybe this needed 5 minutes instead of an hour of labor and days of replacement parts. Who knows? From your video.... it's unknown. Not impressed.
Ryobi 🤮🤯. Great job repair this carb … that spool head is a real piece …. A always use NGK plugs in all my equipment they seem to run better and don’t foul as easily

sure, I'm going to say the fuel line in the tank Is either too short, or getting petrified and not allow the filter to stay submerged in the fuel.
I would use that trimmer if it was free. Half the fun of fixing free equipment is to use it for a while.
that makes perfect sense.
It seems to be a similar replica of that MightyLite Homelite trimmer.

from what you're saying I would seem there's an excess of fuel, at wide open throttle. If it was me I would adjust the H screw to deliver less fuel.
