They should do it. I love Nihongo but i am one of those who dislike v shape ergonomic keyboards. Oddly enough i also grew up as an ikjl player (right hand on the arrow keys/ikjl) which means the tilt would be very unnatural for me, i also got the mixbox 2.0 and its already perfect except for the 30mm buttons being too big. So hopefully they give us both tilted and non tilted option too and the 24mm buttons version.

John Dela Cruz it’s easier in some ways to bring a mixbox to a friend’s. Even playing on a PC. It’s easier to setup than keyboard. What if you both play keyboard? Tournaments will not run actual keyboards. Their price is ridiculous, though. It shouldn’t cost that much to put 4 mechanical keys to represent directions and the regular arcade stuff.

Yeah the non universal mixbox 12 is $250, universal edition is $350, plus $70 shipping, and it takes like a month minimum to arrive. I bought one but only because I have a lot of disposable income and tekken is my hobby, but even I wouldn’t recommend it for the price. Just get a hitbox, might take a bit of getting used to but it’s effectively the same thing for less price. Not to mention you can beat the hell out of a arcade button, don’t know if the same can be said for a key switch. I don’t play sf so I can’t say what the mixbox is good for on that game, but in tekken, characters that use instant while running moves like dragunov have amazing consistency on mixbox. Conversely, characters like devil Jin, that need to input 2 buttons on the exact same frame, are better on hitbox. All in all though, the mixbox and hitbox are both basically perfect controllers for tekken at least, it just comes down to which you prefer.

I took a look at their online shop and was quite excited when I saw the "Mixbox -12 Reverse Universal Edition". It's rare to see anyone make a reverse controller at all.
It's still not the perfect controller for me, since I've grown up playing PC games with the keypad while laying my thumb on the down button instead of moving my middle finger around. I would need the down key to be slightly farther down than where it is so it wouldn't be such a tight squeeze when placing the thumb over it.
I currently play on a custom controller made out of Sanwa buttons and a PS360+ PCB. The PCB does not have L3, R3 and definitely no Dualshock 4 touchpad. It has some funny input combinations to switch between D-pad and thumbsticks, which I'd love to replace with a physical switch, but can't. And it's biggest issue is that is uses a USB type B output, which is incredibly loose. I've disconnected during gameplay countless times just because USB type B connectors tend to fall out easily.
On the other hand, the parts for my controller cost me less than $170. The Mixbox -12 Reverse Universal Edition costs $350, which is a lot more.
Double tapping in Street Fighter isn't something that should be demonstrated with target combos. It's a technique to increase the chance of performing 1-frame links, which were very common in SF games up to 4. The most basic example would be hitting crouching medium punch twice with Guile. SFV replaced those with 3-frame links, which can be easily achieved by mashing fast enough.
15:57 I would love to see you draw your own Mixbox artwork. I think a tutorial on how to get everything the right size for printing would be awesome.
18:14 Ending the 360 with a diagonal up+back actually makes it harder and it forces you to rush the action. The best way is to do a half circle motion, going back to neutral and then hitting up and attack at the same time. For 720, I input up+forward, make one full rotation while in the air and then do the same thing I do for a 360.

  • @cyb

I have one. My biggest complaint is the use of 30mm buttons. They should use 24mm so it feels closer LIKE the keyboard its trying to simulate. The 30mm size basically rendered the furthest 2 buttons useless to me. Most keyboard users would be resting their 3 fingers on three buttons. I play on the hitbox, mixbox and fighting edge btw.

    • @DaRealJGRIF
      @DaRealJGRIF 5 лет назад +5

See I'm guessing you might have small hands because the 30mm buttons are one of the reasons I love my mixbox I used to play on keyboard when I was younger but my manhands make that uncomfortably cramped nowadays I can hit the the furthest buttons with my pinky finger easily plus it makes it easier for my brain to switch between the mixbox and a regular stick as the button layout is the same

I bought one of these, the PCB is cable tied to a piece of plast in which a single hole is drilled through and a nut and bolt holding it down
This was snapped. Not a delivery error, as the case (the best aspect of the device) is metal. Though the case was terribly protecxted with loose torn pieces of polystyrene wedged in and around the box.
The left arrow key was broken as well, this required changing.
Description on the product is vague to mislead you into believing it's full sanwa, that only the face buttons were sanwa (I am still unsure if this is the case, as they're taller than any other sanwa I have used before)
As per their terms and conditions I can get a full refund barring the £30 tax I paid, and the return shipping of £40 and any other taxes returning to China (even though it's all their fault)
Though the warranty only exists in the US, dunno how that'll hold up legally, tho.
As a collector I STRONGLY advise against this, the unit is way too expensive for what it is at $250.
Do not fall for the hype. Learn from my mistake.

Or u may also lock ur fingers tight in a position that can allow you to perform a circle by rotates ur wrist around those buttons without moving ur fingers, but that's something that even I never tried for.

  • @MoochoMocho
    @MoochoMocho 5 лет назад

Just recently got my first arcade stick and modded it with sanwa parts and I love it, even with the learning curve that comes with a stick. I know I can do better with a pad but the fun experience I'm having with it far outweighs the difficulty of learning to play with a stick. I use it on PC because I am primarily a keyboard and mouse gamer because I'm mainly a first person shooter player than anything. I could really see this hitbox controller being really effective for someone like me with experience mostly with WASD controls. The angle of the keys looks like a much needed improvement. I play games like overwatch with my keyboard at a slight angle and having the buttons without an angle has an esthetically pleasing look but not very ergonomical. I agree that making the buttons higher up on the controller is a good idea. Maybe for the next version of the controller the ppl designing it can experiment with that. I really like the direction in which this controller is going and if the company can make a version at a bugdet price for us gamers with a tighter wallet I can see this as a buy in the future. Lastly I am a mechanical switch snob and the choice of cherry mx switches for the controller would be an awesome addition. I use cherry mx blue switches and having the choice for red, blue, brown, ect. Cherry mx switches would be great.

I would love a mixbox stick like that, but the keys being on the right, i've always played fighting games with the arrows of the keyboard instead of WASD, it would be awesome

hey :D! i'm actually a keyboard player and believe it or not, i found a way around the problem with the ring finger XD. even tough it may look uncomfortable, once you get used to it, it really helps, and is actually changing the position of your fingers. that means to do a fire ball, i do from middle to index, BUT to do a backuards fireball, i actually do from index to middle finger. and the same with lots of motions. at this point i'm actually playing fighting games with only 2 fingers XD. i hope this can help you with your ring finger problem

If this uses a Brook, I believe you can do analog emulation through some combination of buttons to change the behavior of the directional keys.
Wonder if when this is going to be available?

The mixbox is cool. The biggest problem is the price. It cost around $320 to get one shipped to the US and that's for the base model. I can save over $100 if I get a hitbox instead.

Hi Nihongogamer, it's been a month+ since you got your mixbox, have you use it extensively? What is your take for mixbox vs stick? I am in a dilemma as it is so expensive. And how easy to open the metal case to swap parts/replace faulty component? Thank you.

The Universal MixBox is the One For Me.
Given with the games I'm looking to play I found that my coordination on WSAD Keypad is consistent and allows me to play at a baseline good level since movement & execution comes easier with it which is why if I had to choose between Pad/Fightstick/MixBox/Hitbox,I would take it in a heartbeat!!!
BTW,I love the Universal Model A Lot!!!
    How much are they??

Would be better if the top surface was larger, without the slanted angle, because it's actually better for you if your wrists are at the same angle as your forearm, and also the buttons are too close to the buttons, and it'd be nice to have detachable cable, and more of a matte powder coated paint surface, and lastly, a clamshell design for easy open

I just hope they have more colors in the future. Also I am hoping in the future you can customize the key boards for not only different color buttons but replacing the keyboards if they get worn out.

I actually played keyboard before stick but quickly switched to pad shortly after lol I’d love it if there was a way I could try it but not commit to it like with the aswd style if they had a conjoined version with a stick too I’d be more open to it. Money in the upwards of 300 bucks is a lot for a long shot. For those that really enjoy it and really into it I’m glad they have the option

it would be interesting if they made one with the directional keys on the right side, for those of us who play on PC ... in my case ... I can play fighting games with the directionals in the right side ... at least with the Street Fighters and King of Fighters ... (Emulators) I have not tried with the DBFZ ... 🤔 I will try one day ... Greetings from Venezuela ... I wish some day I could do unboxings like you in my channel, the situation in my country is not very good that is said, They would steal all the products at customs. Regards! 👍

I'd prefer an actual stick if they could have both with the option for analog emulation not sure how the spacing would work but some games benefit from WASD while others control better with a full stick especially when I can swing my hand in a circle more easily then pressing offset keys in a particular order I tend to miss the S key quite alot. If possible I'd like an all in one controller I could use in conjunction with a mouse.
