28:25 That's Mattel's 'Yellow Fellow' head from "Kozmic Kiddles" in 1968. Very collectible if you find NM condition figures, flying saucer, and purple rock base. Some figures still glow-in-the-dark extremely bright (the yellow and light green ones).
Great video you guys. There was a lot of cool stuff. I would have grabbed that KISS magazine for sure. Andy has to watch his accent though, because I swear he said Ninja Turtle balls the first time. Lol😂
26:35 I'm a bit fuzzy on the actual dates, but when I was inexperienced and hunting stuff I researched key packaging moments. Barcodes slowly became the norm in the mid-to-late 1970s. It was slow to be adopted. Five digit ZIP Codes on packaging addresses were a quick transition in the early-to-mid 1960s. There is a one year gap between ZIP codes and telephone area codes. 1963, if I recall correctly. Also a transition from three/ four letter U.S. state abbreviations to two-letters began in the mid-1960s, but the acceptance by the general public was slow (people don't like change, but businesses adapt quickly if it will increase distribution speed.)
I've been collecting Popeye since 1976! He's an awesome character, too good to go away forever. He's mounting a comeback, you better believe it. One reason he's tough to find in the wild is, fans (and he Does have a lot of fans) do not part with their Popeye treasures, they hold onto them tightly! Do yourself a favor and go back and watch the original Fleischer cartoons. They show them on ME-TV, they are exceptional and a Whole lot of FUN!
The blue and green stuffed things that looked like ghosts are an old cartoon called Barbapapas. I remember watching it super early Saturday morning with Captain Bob.
Wow, I'd love to spend hours just wandering through that first place. Totally with your brother in that I really only collect stuff from when I was a kid (roughly 1978-1986.) Narrow focus means my collection doesn't get too outta overwhelming. Well, I try not to let it, lol...
36:22 That's the Santa I still own from my childhood in the 70's, I remember my mom sending me and my brother and sister to the corner store in Lawrence Massachusetts to purchase the entire case, I was probably 5 years old. 💪🤓
Thanks guys for another great video absolutely love your channel, I never collected popeye but remember the cartoon from when I was younger also I think a lot of toys I had were second hand at the time but I got a lot more now I'm a grown up kid
Hi again, I thought antique was 100 years old or more and vintage has to be 50 years also do you guys know when they first started using bar codes on toys?
