It is about time that the stereotypes of what most of society sees as vegans, (usually of European backgrounds) are now being shown that those of us who are not European background are very much into vegan lifestyle. Different cultures around the world including Africa, Asia, etc actually have a main diet consisting of plants... It always kind of off throws me when people find out that me and my husband are vegans they actually don't look shocked when they find out he is vegan but are when they find out I am... Sighs...

Yes the stereotypes are missleading! I work at a vegetarian restaurant and many of the vegans that come in are black. Im a latino vegan and would love to see latinos embrace veganism more.

I understand the desire for celebrities to keep parts of their private life hidden from the public. However, the fact that she's vegan shouldn't have been on MC Lyte's 25 Things You Don't Know About Me list. Especially since many people in the black community suffer debilitating health problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure due to a lifetime of unhealthful eating habits. The list appeared in the October 14, 2013 issue of US Weekly. So can anyone tell me if she's been more vocal about her veganism since then or is she still "hiding in the weeds," so to speak? Don't get me wrong. I'm not chastising her. I'm just not familiar with the hip-hop culture/artists except for will.i.am, who is a very vocal activist. And, again, I'm not saying that MC Lyte has to be on his level of notoriety but I'd be curious to know if she uses her veganism as a platform to influence others to adopt veganism. I completely agree with you. The platform she has may be used to help so many people suffering chronic illnesses. Going vegan is something you should be very proud of and also be vocal about how important and super responsible it is to adopt this lifestyle. I'm with you.

Ok this is great but hip hop no longer talks about social issues it’s misogynistic. Second a few years ago I was with my daughter at oh are airport and a suv was being loaded in front of us. One of the guys was wearing an Eryka Baydu shirt I looked in the front seat and she was sitting there and some people came up for autographs. BUT during that time Eryka was holding a McDonald’s bag eating of course the contents. I was disappointed

HC Vegan SxE means to defend all life (animalia, childs, women or men... Any of them, no different).
