Sometimes that works great! Unfortunately sometimes it doesn’t… sometimes a creature needs a LOT of shots to knock out, especially early game, and some of them can run very far and fast once their torpor gets high… I’d rather trap it in a spot I’ve cleared out rather than chasing it down just to have it collapse in the middle of a pack of wolves or something lol.
Something I've started doing for the Pit trap is using cellings as an alternative to foundations if it's a 2x2 or 3x3 as they are slightly cheaper (especially if you have to craft it in the field) and you don't have to worry about the terrain as much. Just snap the cellings to the single foundation and build as normal.
I love nooblets videos. But his traps aren't always cost effective or versatile on slopped terrains. Great info and I watch his videos all the time. I think more because his voice keeps my attention. Kinda like raas.

Great summary, thank you! My go-to method is to net creatures, and then put 3-4 dino gates over them while netted. For manas or quetals, make sure one gate is in front of their wings and one behind. For the sloth bear or theri add doors or pillars on the ends. For tropical wyverns, quickly place one gate in front of and one behind its wings (one gate width apart) while it's walking around to trap it without agro and feed it from the ground.
I’ma spam you with that “Top 10 Missing Features” of what we all wished was in the final game LoL. (Jk but would be a great top 10 series if you couldn’t fit them all in one) JPG would be a good collab on that also he knows everything that was supposed to be in the game that never made it… If you had to make it a series you could break them apart into: Missing TLC’s Missing Ascension for Scorched Missing Game Mechanics Missing Story Elements Missing Items, Dinos, Structures, Skins, the list goes on… Would really be good for the content that could make it into ARK II as well so the devs know what we REALLY wanted. I know this would be a lot harder than your other top 10’s to really research, tally votes on and organize but I believe in you Raas! lol Could end up being your most viewed top 10’s to-date, who knows?
Onewing has some interesting trap designs. Having said that, they revolve mostly around PvP and boats, but they are pretty amazing. I’ve used the alpha hunting boat and it’s pretty nice.
Top 10 creatures we want to see in Ark 2? (Not to be confused with top 10 creatures that should return) I would love to see a Kronosaurus in Ark 2 (Liopleurodon but better)
I would want the liopleurodon to be in ark 2 but would want it to be much more common and not limited, it could be a good mid game swimmer since there aren’t much of those

Nothing better than a few gates and doors with pile inside to block flying (if it's flying) creature. I also quite often use the trap made out of door frames and windows with ramp on both sides... However after having any dino that is possible to hold the weapon and shoot from i am totally stopping using them - for example griffin. Totally recommended! But... fatdog argent and wyvern traps... I admit i use them.
i personally have used the "better giga trap" and it was scary with me thinking it would glitch out since it had glitched inside, but it worked very well
Can't be sure I was the first to do it but I did come up with the idea by myself. The 3rd place trap I built as early on as the old extinction servers (now named Arkpocolypse). And yes their original purpose was to capture Argies after the "flee when almost knocked out" mechanic was added. The two pillars leave enough room above for a ptera to escape so you don't get stuck. I was in Jayex's tribe at the time so there is a chance it made it in a video.
Shows his cheaper version but his more expensive version is also a great way to tame Golems. N00blets was the first YT channel I found back when the island was the only map. I find it nice to see Raas giving recognition to his older traps. Also how the hell does CPT. FatDog come up with these obscurity he calls traps makes me want to re-think my trap designs. . . .
I've been using a modified version of the Lucky by Nature Reaper trap for years. Instead of a behemoth gate, I just use a 2 wall high ramp. Literally have trapped and been impregnated around 1000 times using such trap.
aaaaah man you should put the number one with combination of the raft! a lot of people are building that so they can have a mobile trap. How ever i heard a rumor of a Skiff mobile trap but i was unable to find one so i guesss is just a myth
I still use the 4 behemoth gates the sides are manual the front is auto both open and close and the back is auto close only. I also purposely build on slight hills so when the giga tries to run instead of chasing it around I can crawl undereath and shoot tranqs since it's no longer looking to bite you.
I just use the box trap or dino gates (argie trap) for everything. Should really look into learning some more cost efficient traps, building a giant metal box trap for a Giga is not fun 😂
A wyvan got out of that trap for me, it agreed to a pt behind it and came out but all I had to do was circle around again then it was fine from then on
Ark has made many of us master tamers use their brain, I personally use a bird cage (as shown in the ones that didn’t make the list) a flier and some rare flowers to bait a quetzal and tame it.
For me, billboards do the job more often than not. They are much cheaper than a large majority of what you presented, and they do the job 90% of the time.
I don't really have traps I have boxes. I have a stone box for medium creatures, and a wood hyenadon taming box for those smaller mediums that can't quite fit through hatchframes, but also can't do too much damage to wood.
All my years on ark I've never made a trap but I'm going to start now. I'm getting old and lazy and argies in particular are a pain to knock out when you're early game and just want a metal hauling beast. LMAO
Great traps. There is a better argy trap out there, it’s literally 7 pieces to place and works great. 1 foundation, door frame sides, an angled ceiling on the top and a door to open on one of the sides. It’s a brilliantly simple trap that works great
I usually just build a giant room of stone doorways with ceilings on the top and two behemoth doors on each side and foundations on the bottom it takes a lot of Resorces, but it can catch anything but a giga I started using them more when extinction dropped, and the flying luck dragons were like bouncing tiggers. lol After that they just always seemed to be the best bet. gave me the ability to place a room on top with a bed in it just in case I get Arked

The top 10 went from "super good giga trap" to "IIIIN AT NUMBER 8 IS 8 PILLARS IN A SQUARE" and I laughed out loud Also Bruh nooblets be underrated, his traps have had the best success rate I've seen so far. Only 1 that didn't work as intended was the basilisk trap, and idk why
I'm really surprised to learn that people use traps for crystal wyverns. I usually just run up their wings and stand in the space where you sit to ride. Because they're a saddle-less ride, the game doesn't allow you to fall off in that spot. It's uncomfortably disorienting at first, but the only cost to doing is making your Pick for getting crystal to tame it, which you'd be doing either way.
I've used crystal wyvern traps not to tame, but to capture wild heirs to harvest primal crystal. Though using traps to tame is a viable alternative when suffering from analog drift that keeps you from staying on a wild wyvern consistently, or you're just not confident in your ability to balance/trusting in Ark not to screw you over
I can just tame an argy on the volcano one shoot it with any knocking utility two make sure to lure it in the volcano crater three knock it out and it won't go to much far
I was hoping to find one more efficient, but seems really isn't anything more efficient than any other. Just all cosmetics really. I use the box one for land and dino gates for flyers currently. I'll stick with those since I play solo anyway
Pretty sure Nooblets had a whole video calling out LBN for saying his reaper trap didn't work after they proceeded to steal the design. Edit: They came up with this design half a year after their drama with Nooblets

I have built a total of 3 traps in the 5 years I’ve played ark, because I usually end up hopping on top of a rock and shooting

There is one major issue with all of these traps, they aren’t strong enough to withstand the mighty force of a dodo.

it's good however with s+ it's good to use gates - they open and close automatically

I like the argie trap with one doorframe and stone fence supports just beyond it, but I'll keep some of these in mind

fro 3:53 you can go with a 1x1 with 2 high double doorframes and a ceiling it works for me

The sound was the only short I've done, which came off the back of compliant the full vid didn't have loud enough dino sounds.
Well, it was supposed to be favorite dino sounds, not favorite Raas sounds. That's a different Top Ten. ;)
pillar traps just belong to human instinct. the mechanics pretty much set that up as an instintual one
