    man I love these videos, I get so excited every time I see there is a new one because not only do I think Pete Thorn is one of the greatest guitarists I will ever hear in my lifetime but its like with every video not only am I getting to see the best pedal demo you could ask for but I am also getting tone lessons from the tone master himself. I really do feel like I have learned so much about the relationship between your guitar, your pedals, and your amp just by watching these. you really are the man Pete.

    Hey Pete - I appreciate your taking the time to make such well done demos. Both the quality of the recording and the applicability of how you show products are first rate, not to mention the playing. Ordered Guitar Nerd a couple of days ago. Review to follow.... (Joking). Best wishes. Please keep them coming.

  • @sargentppeper
    @sargentppeper 9 лет назад

    Very cool! One thing about the Archer pedal is, once you turn the drive just past 2:00 you loose bottom end of your sound and the tone becomes more bright and "nasally" sounding which is why you don't see the drive over 12:00 throughout this demo.

    • @ronnieo.6647
      @ronnieo.6647 8 лет назад

      I have noticed that it does lose bottom end and gets nasally when I turn the drive past 2. Really bums me out. It seems that doesn't happen on some of these demos like pro guitar shops. Still a great pedal and I mostly use as a clean boost.

      +sargentppeper: What's your OD pedal of choice now?

    • @ronnieo.6647
      @ronnieo.6647 8 лет назад

      +Monty Cantsin I still love the Archer. I'm playing through a Mesa Express + 5:50. I'll use the blues channel gain about 2 o clock and set the archer output at 12 o clock gain at 9 o clock and treble at 12 as well. I've had the Archer for a couple months now and am still learning how to actually use it. From what I can tell it's not a use alone overdrive. Just my opinion. I also have a fulltone OCD and EQD Palisades. As of right now they are all my favorite. How about you?

    • @MontyCantsin5
      @MontyCantsin5 8 лет назад

      I've got a Fulltone OCD as well and of course, it's an excellent pedal. However, I have thought about getting an Archer just for something slightly different (i.e. something that's not a TS9-type pedal) but it's a tough choice given the sheer amount of OD pedals out there. Can you maybe elaborate a little on why you think the Archer is not a use alone overdrive?

  • @mlambrechts1
    @mlambrechts1 Год назад

    Hi. I have this pedal but I don't like it. For me, it does nothing but boost the volume. But maybe that's bc I play through a Fender Bassman and I don't want to play at very loud volumes... Had this experience with other pedals into a fender amp. If the amp is >30 Watts and you don't want to turn that volume up, many pedals are not capable of "overdriving" the tone.

    I was hoping you would answer the pick question also. I just got a hold of a Dragonheart pick, its thicker than I would normally use but it gives me such a big, defined sound. It almost sounds like your using a similar thick pic.

    Hey Pete, love this demo, man; great job -- but then again, all of your demos are EXCELLENT! I was wondering if you could comment on -- Klon "clones" -- there are so many on the market. Have you actually demo'ed the real deal, and which "clone" (or "clones) get THE CLOSEST? This one is tempting b/c of the price to pickup, but was just curious about your thoughts about which clone is closest... Thx man! BGD PS: LOVE your Suhr factory live videos (esp Groomed Noodler); wish we could see MORE live songs like that from ya; I've listened to that a bazillion times!

    • @PeteThorn

      My SL68.. that's just how it sounds :) It's pretty clean in the first examples, but it IS a plexi, not a Jazz Chorus. Besides, no one uses Klon-types that way :) They sound best with the gain below half, and the output up a bit, driving an amp that is on the edge of breakup.
