I've seen Jeff more than any other rocker. Starting with the Blow By Blow tour. There are NO words!!! Thanks for showing off this pedal. I preferred the 6V6 sounds. Too much fizz for my liking with the EL84s, but that may also be the low-wattage. Being a Hiwatt guy, I can't wait to hear this pedal in front of a clean 6L6 amp. This, and tube pre-amp pedals. Mid-range saturation while maintaining headroom with zero extraneous velcro on top. Thanks again. You are seriously a GREAT teacher!!! Great to discover you after the tragic loss of Michael Casswell in 2016. He was my favorite teacher! Especially his Jeff Beck lessons (all of which I own)! Amazing!!!
Thanks Kieron! That pedals amazing!! Jeff just gets better and better!
Agree! 6v6 all the way!
Yea seriously, Jeff Beck has gotten better with each decade. Not just a little better too, much better.
Dude is a force of nature.
I know!! It is crazy!!
@@BrettPapa He has. I've only been *really* getting into him in the last 10 years or so and he is just a gift from God to humanity. I love watching his interviews and the stories he'll tell are just so lucid.
I use the J Rockett Blue Note Tour pedal and love it. They make great stuff. Good video and thanks.
They all are good haha! Thanks for watching!
This is - by far - the best sounding overdrive pedal I have ever heard in my f***ing life. Jesus! Now, you are playing thru a fine amp - this particular DB13 is The Shit - but, my God. In the land of "transparent" mojo, this thing is King...what it does it does without, imo, barely, if at all, change the character of whatever you're running through. It sounds well built - yes, I believe you can hear such a thing - and at $282 (when I checked) it better be...but, sweet Lord. Every time you hit that open G chord, that is just regal, the character of that ring, it's...to me, it's just absolutely beautiful. I couldn't imagine anything better to have on your board than one of these. Now, I just have to pony up the dough and get over the sticker shock. Nothing no one doesn't already know, obviously, but everything made now is just so w-a-a-a-a-y overpriced it's stupid, but - it's the way of the world now. So deal. Great vid. Greater pedal.
One of my favorite pedals ever!! I use it every day! Buy one you won't ever regret it!
Have seen Beck twice...and it is hard to believe he does what he does. You have to see it to believe it. Brett, your sound and playing is fantastic!!
He is the man, so good! Thanks for the kind words!
New subscriber - Just bought this pedal last night after hearing it in use.... he traded an Archer for the Jeff.
Looked for a review and found you. Great playing , I'm a new subscriber! I now can't wait until Tuesday when my "Jeff" gets here. Peace.
Awesome! Thanks for the sub! It is one of the only pedals I ever use.
Wow !!! I'm in love with your Strat😍😍😍😍😍. Amazing tones with both, guitar + pedal + amp!!! 👏👏👏🤩. Your videos are incredible!!! Cheers from Viamão City - RS Estate (Brazil)🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Thanks man! Glad you like the vids!
Hey I have the gold archer, and I love it. Jeff beck is a terrifying guitar player, his best work was on Jon Bon Jovi’s Blaze of Glory album for the young guns film (in my opinion) its a shame he’s not worked with more songwriters as I’m not so much in to instrumental stuff
I know!!! I feel the exact same way! He does amazing work in the context of a band with a singer. The Rod Stewart stuff too!
I bought mine not long after they came out and has been on my board ever since....It is my favourite pedal and if I could only have one pedal it would be this... it is almost offensive how good they are. It makes everything better!.
Agreed 100%
Your tone w that pedal on the 6V6 is ridiculous. Great playing as well
Haha thanks! I LOVE that pedal!!!
I just picked up an annual subscription for your website, thanks for keeping the sale going. I am going to be working on all your videos for sure.
Thanks so much! All this is possible with the support of people like yourself!
Glad you dig it.. I've had my Rockett Archer w/out the Jeff Beck mod on my board for over 2 years now and it's not going anywhere..
I can see why!
Never played a real Klon, but I’ve tried most of the top shelf Klones out there. The Jeff Mod Archer is so so good! Love it for a clean boost after other OD pedals or distortions (or just as a “better clean tone”). Nice demo!
For sure! Thanks for watching!
just made my purchase of the J. Rockett Audio - Archer Jeff Beck Mod #045 limited addition hand signed. Thanks Brett i just hope my wife is as excited as i am😎
Awesome!!! I'm sure she will love it!
Do know what sonic difference(s) there are between the standard Archer and the Jeff Beck mod versions?
Nice boost to your already overdriven sound. Thanks Greg...always enjoy your videos bud.
Sure thing! Thanks for watching.
I already own the Rockett Animal, Blue Note, and Dude pedals and they're all wonderful. They should probably just start a pedal of the month club for guys like me.
Pretty sure you mixed up the Gain and Treble/Tone knobs throughout. LOL. But it just goes to show you that it's hard to get a bad sound out of that pedal.
Could be! It sounds great no matter where you put it!
I thought I was the only one that noticed that! :-)
Sounds great! Give it a try as a clean-ish boost with amp “working” a bit but far less overdriven. That’s where many people think the klon circuit excels. Not sure if you can push those amps enough in that space - they look loud AF haha
He’s using an Ox to tame those beasts...
There are some great demos that highlight that sort of thing already. This thing is good in any situation!
Got to do it lol!
Last night I watched a bunch of videos on Jeff Beck, the Playing Live At Ronnie’s, the Car Show videos, and personal different interviews. His playing is amazing and he talked about some of the ways he comes up with his musical ideas and the reason he plays like he does. Great sounding pedal. I do like the Klon, can’t afford the expensive vintage one like some famous players can. I noticed Saturday that the red Klon pedals have gone up in price since I bought mine several years ago. J. Rockett Audio makes some fine pedals. Any more information on availability and pricing ? Thanks.
His live concert vids are so good!!! I think they are still available. Maybe just a touch more expensive than the normal ones but I am not positive.
@@BrettPapa I just saw the pedal listed on Reverb from J. Rockett Audio for $289 plus $15.00 for shipping. Thanks. I just bought the complete Bose 700 Surround Sound System, sound bar, bass speaker, and two surround speakers, so it is hard to buy the pedal right now, but, your rig sounds Dynamite coming through the Bose 700 setup. It cost about the same price as the two weekend 4 day run of Jazz Fest with all the trimmings, and I figured since they had to cancel this year I might as well go ahead and buy it now so I can rock out to all the great RUclips concerts, and videos you have made. It sure makes me smile when I crank it up, I hope my neighbors appreciate it as much as I do. LOL 😂
great feeling in your playing bro, really enjoyed this demo
Thank ya!
Jeff Beck is absolutely unreal. Might gonna have to get one of those!
Yes and yes! Thanks for watching!
Agreed!
Sweet Papa that sounds amazing brother!
Thanks! Thanks for watching!!
Great Pedal, I use the Rockaway Archer (Steve Stevens) with an integrated 6 band EQ which is very handy.
Nice! I'll have to check that one out!
Nice playing mate.
Thanks!
Great tone!
I’m already using the Archer clean, but l’m also very interested in this pedal 👍
Thanks! Check it out you won't regret it!
Awesome vid love your demo !!! 💥
Thanks! More on the way!
I use the Archer Clean. Into a Deluxe Reverb. It's always on, I never turn it off. I adjust all of my other pedals to work with it.
Yep I bet that is awesome! I almost never turn mine off either.
I have both and you can get similar tones. I'd say that the Jeff Archer is slightly smoother and the Archer Clean slight more open as there is no gain (although maxing the "color" knob kind of adds gain)
I run my Archer before my drive pedal and Wallah, total tonal bliss!
I bet! Sounds like a good time to me!
Brett papa. Still waiting for that smallbox demo with a real cab. Love you dude. Keep rockin!!
Haha! There are some great Friedman demos from Michael Neilson out there all through real cabs. Great stuff! Check him out.
@@BrettPapa I know. They are good. But a bit too heavy. I need to hear that thing with the Papastache touch. Lots of VH and classic rock tones. Do it for the fans out there brotha!!
The Archer and the Nobels ODR-1 are must haves for me!!
For sure!
The Hooligan, too is a great OD pedal.
I am using the archer gold as a boost going into a ehx tortion Also have a echoplex preamp first in line starting to sound ok
Nice!
He confuses the treble knob for the gain knob. None of the comment section even noticed that the two gain settings have almost the same distortion.
There is about 100 people that have mentioned it lol! Trust me I know haha!
Rockin Dude
It's a great pedal!!!
Awesome man you told the truth I was about to give up on finding the right pedal ....this is all that and a steak dinner...killer video 2thumbs up
Thanks man! One of the only pedals I use all the time.
Finally someone did the Beck Modded Archer. Thank you. Now I need one to go with my regular Archer.
For sure! One of the best pedals I have ever had!
Thanks Brett! I’m not a a Klon guy either but got the Jmod and have a Dude I’m trading for this weekend! Then on to pedalboard build! Cheers and stay safe!!
Awesome! My favorite pedal of all time!
@@BrettPapa Thanks for all you do! You’re one of my longest YT subs and always enjoy your content and playing!!
That amp holds together really well
Normally with an archer with the gain dimed it’ll get the ax up collaa as posing , to squishy , at least the low end but that amp is tight !!!
Love it
Now I have to go back to the beginnng and see what amp your using
I’m guessing the Divided by 13
Thanks
Thanks for watching! It's probably my Divided by 13 BTR23
That 6v6 tone was awesome. The EL84 was a bit over-compressed and squishy for me. Nice vid Brett. JRockett pedals are great. Have three of their Archers... all excellent.
Thanks! Thanks for checking it out!
Great tones today Brett! Love the Archer pedal. Would love to hear the Dude! I just missed a JRT on craigslist for a reasonable price last night! So disappointed. I'll keep my eyes open.
Dude demo coming next week. One of my all time favorite pedals! Call Fred at Divided by 13 and tell him I sent ya 😉
@@BrettPapa it's a multiplied by divine sound ;) And that head design... love everything about that amp. One of my favorite models in my helix. Would love to get one
Your tone regardless of amp or pedal is always killer. Don’t know if you have but if not a video on your gear and settings on your Divided , Dirty Shirley and more showing how to get the tones you have would be great! Pedal sounds awesome thanks !!
Thanks man! I'll do that one for ya. I got some new amps on the way so once I get those I'll do a full review on my setup.
@@BrettPapa Killer man ! Can’t wait !
@@BrettPapa and I ordered one of these pedals today because of your demo! Thanks
i just want that tone from the guitar and the amp. pure hendrix.
Haha yeah it does sound great just plugged straight in as well!
i got the gold ikon version some months ago.. the best pedal i have ever bought..never going away
I hear that is a great one too!
@@BrettPapa it is...supposed to be the difference between the silver/gold Klon...but i believe the silver one is a bit cleaner...
Great demo Brett! Would love some advice: I love playing overdriven blues, but being a kid of the 90s I also enjoy playing hard rock. Do you think the Lollar pick-ups (either low wound or medium wound) will bridge that gap with the appropriate overdrive/dirt pedals? If not, what should I be looking at? My set up: Epi LP -> pedalboard -> Fender Princeton Reverb (12"). Thanks!
For sure. Those Pickups are fantastic!
@@BrettPapa Thanks. You think I should go with the medium wound Imperials in order to properly hit the hard rock side of the spectrum?
Jeff Beck is the Dumble of guitar players!
He is something for sure! Wow just so good!
Jeff Beck late 70s/early 80s is just golden for me
Yep! Great stuff!
I just got one of these and it is amazing, I put it after my overdrive and it sounds great, very noisy though
One of the best pedals ever!
Sweet sounding overdrive in that pedal. But I noticed that you played it all on the Humbucker. What's it sound like with the single coil pickups? They have a pedal called Blue Notes that I am considering. Love to try it on my Strats.
Sounds killer with single coils. I have that pedal too but prefer this one.
Let's just be completely clear here. The "ridiculous tone machine" is the thing wearing the tuque. ;)
And yeah, JB does about 15 things - mostly with his right hand - that no player alive does/can do, and a few with his left. I played the first 3 minutes of Amused to Death by Roger Waters - my first real introduction to him - and my son said, "no, that's not a guitar." Me: "Well then what is it?" Him: "I don't know, but you can't make any of those sounds with a guitar."
My only concern is that someone needs to be teaching a whole group of 10 year olds his techniques so it doesn't die with him.
Haha! Yeah I agree the younger guitarists out there need to see players like Jeff!
Yes! More demos of Rockett pedals!
More coming soon!
Love that pedal ! What guitar are you using ? Any interest in PRS guitars ?
Has anyone brought up the fact that Brett had the Gain and Treble knobs mixed up?
Yep about 500 people lol!
Damn Brett, your right! What a beautiful ha-ha, you just said Aaahhh playing. Yeah you got me hooked.
Haha!
Agree. I’ve been through several K pedals and convinced myself that I just didnt like that sound. There’s a nasal sound that always made me cringe.
Anyway, this is the one that added a beautiful mid push and grit to my sound that’s just perfect in a mix. Either as a low gain or a boost it excels.
Yep it is my favorite Klon style pedal hands down!
Great demo sir!
Thanks for checking it out!
Center is gain, not tone…treble is tone, the right knob. Killer tone any way you call it.
Yep I know lots of people have told me at this point haha
Guitar playing is excellent.
But the sound is more Hendrix. Jeff Beck does not use that kind of sound as base
Thanks! Yeah I don't use it to try and sound like Beck. I just like the voicing of the pedal.
R u running that amp though ox? Sounds really good man!
Yes! Always! I love that thing!!
thinking of replacing my amazon klone w this. I bought a boing from jrocket and its so good, never turn it off.
Yeah their stuff is great. I love all my Rockett Pedals.
I wonder if you were referring to the Rockaway !!! The Steve stevens signature j rocket pedal…
Am I the only one to notice you have the treble and gain backwards? You realize that? I'm still getting one though!
67' Bassman, single coils, hated it.
I I think they made a pedal with a really great sound and put some knobs on the top that are not actually connected to anything. (Or is it just because I’m watching on my ipad with no headphones)
That thing sounds great when you step on it no matter what the knobs say. I have never moved them.
I've been into Dumble pedals lately but I like this JB mod!
Such a great pedal! The Dude is their take on the Dumble thing.
@@BrettPapa I have The Dude... but like my Kingsley Minstrel better... have the Juggler on order.
That pedal is so good I can understand why it hasn't came off your board yet question is is it still there two months later and check this out I just got the angry driver which pushed my sd1 off the board and I got it stacked with a tube screamer and it screams
Yes it is! I just used it in my Van Halen video. That pedal will never leave my board!
Great review and playing B. I'm totally in awe of this pedal dude... I have the hot rubber monkey pedal and this would be the go to boost pedal for sure..
Yeah I am sure those two would work great together! Thanks for tuning in!
That sounds great!
I LOVE that pedal! It is almost always on!
Your sound without the pedal was killer! There’s an amp with el84 and 6v6 tone? Is switchable? That’s a good idea. And you going into the ox? Sounds awesome! I’ve been into the archer into a wound up Marshall or 6v6 tweed. That’s a pretty good balance between the low wind bucker and the hot neck single coil.
Thanks! Yes the Divided by 13 JRT has both 6v6 or EL84 power sections which you can choose between. Yeah the Lollar pickups all sound great together! I use the lower bridge and Specials in the singles.
I like that the Archer has its own little coaster there, kind of like a carpet for a rig. Could you get close to that tone just by cranking one (or both I guess) of your %13 amps?
Haha! Yeah most of the videos in the last couple of years are just plugged straight into the amps. Love those amps!!
Great demo.
Thanks Paul!
Ok ok all right..!! Is anybody gonna say something about the lick at 6.22 .. my goodness., at 6.25-6.28 is mind numbing for me because I can’t see exactly what he’s doing but pretty sure he’s using the pick for the low string and a finger ( hybrid picking ) .. fantastical
Lol I use hybrid picking all the time.
Thanks, Brah!!!😎
Sure thing!
Awesome Brett sounds incredible... I have to ask hasn’t Guthrie been playing that same guitar or one like it?
It was mine he was using. Thanks for watching!
I need one of these for by DB13 CJ11 and my K-line Springfield !!!
The bottom knob is the gain control, not the treble control. :P
I know lol! People have told me. Can't believe I did that. I've never changed the settings on it. I use it every day.
very cool pedal Brett demo some more please
Thanks! More coming soon!
Seems to be hard to figure out 3 knobs.
It was that day haha. I always keep it set the same way. I just turn knobs till I find the sound I want.
Sounds awesome and outstanding playing! Can we confirm the single coils? Sound great!
Thanks! It’s an awesome pedal! Single coils are Lollars. There is a link in the description box.
@@BrettPapa Thanks Brett! Always top notch stuff from you! Be well
Please grab a j.rockett " the dude" pedal ....they sound incredible and you seem to get the best tone on RUclips my friend . Thanks .
Already recorded that one! Coming out next week! The Dude is one of my favorite pedals ever!!
@@BrettPapa Great...I'll be watching for it...
That is one badass pedal!
Yep totally becoming one of my all time favorites!
So now that J. Rockett has released the El Hombre, is it the pedal you referred to that they had in the works as another Archer type pedal?
No but the El Hombre pedal is great. Got to do a demo of it soon.
Little too fuzzy for me. But...it might blend well with another pedal (for my style).
Plays great with other pedals!
This pedal is the real deal.
One of my favorites of all time!
Sorry , spell check !!!
It’ll get the amp collapsing or too squishy
I meant to say
I just bought one. It’s Christmas. Why not.
Hey Brett, if you had 2000-2500 bucks burning a whole in your pocket and needed a strat what would you take a look at?
Yes!!! You won't regret it! I would buy a Nash for sure! If you can get together $300 more bucks I would check out the Jeff Senn guitars which are also amazing. If you can find a used Tuttle they are fantastic guitars too.
@@BrettPapa thank you. I appreciate the advice. Have a great holiday and thank you for all the knowledge over the years man.
omg u have a killer vibrato...u are one of my favorite players so much soul Brett...do you still recommend this pedal???
Thanks Chris. It is the only pedal I use every day. My favorite boost of all time.
@@BrettPapa thanks Brett!!! i am an amp only guy..i play carr super bee amps and am lookin for a bit of grit boost thanks
Great video man! I’m looking for a new overdrive for my 67 Super Reverb, it’s the pickiest damn amp on the planet for overdrives. Tubescreamers work great but I’m looking for something with a little more sustain, I’m all about the zendrive but the prices are kind of ridiculous haha. Do you think this would work?
They sound awesome! I think someone out there makes a Zen Drive type pedal for cheaper.
@@BrettPapa Cool thanks, I’ll look into it!
This or the Tim pierce pedal you think??
Different. Depends what you need. Tim's is a really great and versatile OD the other is more of a boost. Tough to go wrong with either. That being said the only pedal I use on a daily basis is this one.
Lollars 💖
The best!!!
Sounds better without pedal to my ears
One of my favorite amps ever! I love it just plugged straight in.
Shit ... I'm listening to this with crappy computer speakers and this sounds amazing... but sound angelic in person
One of the best pedals I have ever played hands down! I use it every day!
I have the Silver Archer and The Dude......have not tried stacking the two of them.....any preference as to which might work better?
Man tough call. I use the Dude for more ripping overdrive so if it came down to what I would use more it would probably be the Archer. That being said I plan on building a board soon and both will be on it.
Is it not a bit Hendrix like too...? I can see how it is you never turn it off...!! Magic bit of kit it looks like.
Yeah for sure.
So.... the Rockett or "the Dude"?? Which one do you favor?
Tough call I love them both! I would probably use the Archer Jeff Beck mod more.
Can you PLEASE PLEASE do a video on how to play lead parts with solo to hillbilly bone by Blake Shelton? You’re my favorite teacher and can’t find a good lesson anywhere!
Find out who played it and I'll see if I can get them to teach it on the channel!
Brett Papa It means so much that you responded to me! I think Kevin Post did. He’s the guitarist for Blake Shelton. If I never get a lesson no worries man!👍 Just means a lot that ya responded😎
Would love to hear this thru a cleaner amp to hear what the pedal REALLY does. Like a classic Fender amp.
Divided by 13's are great - but his sound is way compressed before he even engages the pedal.
Well, the idea behind the klones is to use it as a "more" in an edge of breakup tone, and it's great because the way it boosts makes the guitar sit in the mix really well.
So perrrrrrrrfect demo to me, although I underestand why you may want to hear it in a cleaner amp.
Yeah there are lots of people out there who have done that. So I like to mix it up a bit for those grip it and rip it type players.
Scuse me can I advise me an affordable looper pedal please?
I like the boss loopers. I have a RC3 and love it.
@@BrettPapa thank you
Ditto is good. Especially if your timing is good, which mine is not. I figured that out when I got the looper.
Would you please tell why you put humbucker pickups in bridge position and what is the type of them? And also please tell us what is your favorate neck pickup model. Thnx.
Lollar pickups are my favorite brand and after that it would be Dimarzio. The pickups in my guitar are all Lollar's. In the hum bucker position is a Imperial Low Wind and the singles are Specials.
@@BrettPapa great tone in both positions🎸
Fantastic playing and tone, but just for clarity sake you confused the Tone and Gain knobs...
Thanks! So I've heard lol! Don't know how I did that but here we are haha!
Nice, but twice the price nice? Hmmmmm not sure. Need to here more with the gain lower Thanks 😉
Nothing beats trying stuff for yourself. I've tried all of the versions and that one is my favorite so far.
That guitar is to clean.lol 🎸
Cheers your the man.love that pedal.
Haha! Thanks!
