Roddy said this is a documentary. In 2022 it's impossible to deny.
Agreed
And yet somehow I bet you're a Trumper
Conform. Consume. Enjoy servitude. Reject logic.
@@NoOneGetzOutAlive only Reed Richards can stretch like that, Illuminati confirmed!!!🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
@@NoOneGetzOutAlive nope. Registered independent. I knew trump was a scammer day one but I bet you are a commiecrat aren't you.
My favorite scene is where the 2 businessmen are talking and one is human complaining how he's afraid he'll get laid off, and his alien friend is like, "Will you relax?"
John Carpenter hired actual homeless people as extras so they could eat the productions catering when they worked.
My favourite line is, "I'm here to chew bubblegum and kick ass. But I'm all out of bubblegum"! 😂
Carpenters movies are like comforting to me. Never get bored watching them multiple times. They Live, The Thing, Prince of Darkness, Assault on Precinct 13, Halloween, Big Trouble in Little China, Vampires and I even loved the critically panned Ghost of Mars. His films were awesome.
Assault on precinct 13 is not talked about enough. I enjoyed the hell out of that movie
I loved this movie, I also love Carpenter's In The Mouth Of Madness!
ruclips.net/video/-6YMov3fYvs/видео.html
I notice you didn't mention Escape From L.A....
agree, all those would be perfect for red eye reviews
@@Brian-ic8db totally agree nobody ever talks about it and it's one of his best.
The fight scene holds the world record for longest fight scene in a film.
This is a classic and one of my all-time favorite movies. Thanks for the review! The fight scene in the alley is amazing!
One of the most underrated movies and underrated acting performances in my opinion
A new Redeye and its one of my favorite movies? Yes please.
Watched this recently when it hit Netflix. Was a go to movie in high school and watched it countless times. Just as good as I remember. And then watched it 2 days later with my son who loves John Carpenter movies. The fight scene is so awesome
One of my favorite movies reviewed by my favorite reviewer!!! 😁 Thanks so much!
I love how Keith David said, this Movie was his own Personal Nightmare.
OBEY! They Live is probably one of my favorite movies about chewing bubble gum and kicking ass!
There is zero bubble gum chewing. He ran out.
@@chrisandrews6185 he ran out because he chewed it all before that scene...put your glasses on
@@Humongous420 Show me one scene where he chews gum. He doesn't cause he is out. He chews on a toothpick but thats only because he has an oral fixation that gum usually addresses, this may in fact be the cause of his mental breakdown and subsequent mass shooting.
Love seeing you cover a genuinely good movie like this.
Of all aspects of fiction, this is one that could be reality. One of my all time favorite films.
Actually, I find it's the conspiracy nuts who are the alien lizards. Most seem to function on the premise that, if they overthrow 'the government', they'll get girlfriends.
You're treading on sacred ground, Mr. Redeye. Sacred ground. LOL.
Treading or Tap Dancing?
@@RedEyeReviews You're on thin ice my pedigree chum, and I shall be under when it breaks jk
@@michaelscott8845 under the ice?! How long can you hold your breath?!
@@RedEyeReviews lol
I dunno which came first but every time I see this, I remember reading Stephen Kings "the 10 o clock people" which is basically just this with nicotine levels replacing Ray bans. And every time I read that, I think of they live.
I did eventually track down 8 o clock in the morning, which I think both of these is based on.
"Out of bubblegum" sure is a badass line, no wonder Duke Nukem used it.
I love The Thing, They Live, John Carpenter, and this channel for showing them love 😄
Something to note about this movie, is that it follows the Golden Rule of "show don't tell" perfectly. There is hardly any real dialogue and guess what ..it doesn't need it. The cinematography does it's job. Bravo, fun review.
One of my favorite 80's movies! Since it's Christmas season, I'd like to recommend you these two Christmas movies featuring wrestlers that you might have a blast reviewing:
Santa with Muscles (1996) ft. Hulk Hogan
Santa's Slay (2005) ft. Bill Goldberg
That is a great idea!
😂👏👍 1 of my favorite movies. As a kid it scared me & now scares me even more. Thanks, great video
South Park always comes to mind, thanks to the Timmy and Jimmy fight
The most true story ever told.
Probably my favourite of film of all time.
Only thing is Andre the Giant was acting before Pipper did this movie, sir. Great vid
Sgt Foley is what comes to mind every time I hear Keith David
Yes!! One of my favorite movies! Not at all subtle in its message, but even if you could ignore it, still just a great sci-fi/action flick. And hands down one of the greatest fight scenes of all time! Thanks for another great review, and now i'm off to donate for a great cause! Love your channel - can't wait to see what comes next!!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked the video. And i really appreciate the donation as well!
Not at all subtle, yet so many missed it...or glossed over it because they're riding the gravy train.
Your vid’s are so well done and they always give me a laugh
Aww thank you friend :) I'm glad you like them
Great Job as usual. Thanks for this review, it brought back memories as this is one of my top favorite movies, right up there with "Enemy Mine".
Time to chew bubblegum and watch this video. And I'm all out of bubblegum
John Carpenter is a friggin genius. By the way, Duke Nukem uses the one-liner "It's time to kick ass and chew bubblegum and I'm all outta gum" years later in the games.
Green Day's music video for Back in the USA is also based off this movie.
great review, and a great channel(one of my favs)!
One of my favorite movies, thanks, RedEye!!!
I saw this at the drive-in on a double-bill with Last Rites, and I had read the story "Nada" by Bill Wray in an Eclipse comic. In fact, I practically saw this movie twice that night because I arrived at the theater 20 minutes after showtime, intended to leave once we'd seen the portion we'd missed, but ended sitting through to the end the second time. I felt like the fight ran too long, and my favorite bit was the money graph in the magazine saying "This is your god."
The fight is a representation of what and how hard it is to show and convince someone of the truth.
lets go!! welcome back broski!
Roddy Piper must have had the toughest sac of steel balls on earth I would have been crying and fainted by the end of the first one connecting 😂😂😂
South Park did a parody of the fight scene with Timmy and Jimmy and it's known as the cripple fight. Hilarious and very 1 to 1 with the movie's takes and how the animated the fight.
Keith David is a national treasure
Really glad to be seeing new content from you. Makes my day.
You’re just the best, sir. Love your work and everything you’re about 🙌
Im so glad you're back now.
The second greatest “B” movie ever made. Totally underrated
Howard the Duck being the first I presume.
@@michaelmyers3709 Actually it’s “Tremors” by a long shot…great story, cast and script…funny and scary at the same time
L.A. Jeez. I live here for 70 years, I've seen craft and probes a dozen times since 2011 (when I was treated to a spectacular show that negated all human physics) and not once could I convince a single person to LOOK UP. Literally not one. I stepped out of this building last year and there were two dudes sitting on the entrance stairs and I looked to the east to see a bright, motionless craft about a mile away, maybe 300 feet high. Look, I said to the dudes, "a UFO!" they looked at me, not the sky, like I was nuts. They didn't bother to even look. It was right there, obvious to anyone who would look up from their phone. That's L.A. E.T. can be hovering right over Hollywood Boulevard on a Saturday night and no one looks up. That's L.A. Love you, Rowdy Roddy. That's Andre the Giant on the OBEY poster. Fer crissakes people, look up.
now fast-forward to 2025, revealed future nostalgia
@@spooky.ridge.97 - I was thinking the same thing watching They Live when it was released.
“And again… we are out of gum” 😂😂
"He had a wife, he had a kid that he told us about so many times, yet we never saw either one of 'em" Yes. That is the most accurate aspect of this movie. You would never know that some people have children or even a family at all given the way they live, while being portrayed as the ultimate victims.
Shalom.
One of my all time favorite sci-fi films. And Rowdy Roddy Piiper apparently thought it was a documentary of sorts.
Epic. Even before I watch this I already know
this movie and the book The Culture Of Narcissism by Christopher Lasch nailed the american reality so well and they did it years before it was truly the most accurate.
Idiocracy coming true also shocked me. Philip K. Dick as well.
Another training film cleverly disguised as a scifi B flick.
Hey there Redeye: Fun Fact....Duke Nukem used the quote, "It`s time to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and I`m all out of gum!" When I first saw this film, I laughed so loudly it actually shocked my brother!
I'm not leaving the comments until you put on the glasses Redeye.
Thank you for the tv history lesson
I love this movie red.
Roddy piper , meg foster, Keith David 😁👍
I always see Kurt Russell as playing the main character for some reason 😎
@H4TTOR1_H4NZO Dude Right?!?!? I kept thinking it was Kurt Russell in this movie for the longest time. But it's actually Roddy Piper. They did look very similar in the 80s though and also Kurt Russell was in another John Carpenter film called The Thing. That's why I got them mixed up.
@@joshottinger6380 yea also big trouble in little China.
Also Escape from New York
@@LeatherStraps-fm8dt and escape from LA
Between this, The Thing, Halo, and Saints Row IV I'm convinced that Keith David is a big alien sci-fi nerd and I love it
My biggest problem with this movie is ALSO the best scene. I mean, WHY was the dude so reluctant to just trying on the stupid sunglasses for a few seconds??
One time me and my friend had a fist fight with this music debate. I forgot what the song was but we had an argument about the lyrics. I think it was a Green Day song and he turned on the walkman with the song (it was the old style cassette) and he was rewinding it and telling me here, here listen but I kept saying no way and punched me in the face and I threw the walkman on the ground and we had this mini fight. It didn't last this long but a few seconds that resulted in both of us crying and running out.
Yes, please bring Beanie Babies back. God rest Grandma's soul...
Your best episode yet sir
4:45 another fun fact is that the guy on the picture is another pro-wrestler Andre the Giant
You’re a friggin GENIUS!!!
"I came here to chew bubble gum and kick ass!" Later became "it's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and I'm all out of bubble gum!" In Duke Nuke'm 🔥
I don't know how many times i've watched The Thing and They live, must be 12 times each; and I'm not one to re-watch movies
Dropped a couple of bones that way. You took the time you wanted/needed, nicely done.
I ONLY just watched this movie recently and finally found out the origins of the whole Obey clothing thing
This movie is so good for so many reasons.
I only found out about this movie today, it's now one of my all time favourites
I remember seeing something about how this teacher was asked by a student " were you alive when the world changed from black and white into color" or something to that effect lol
Longest fight scene ever, it had me in tears bc i was like when will it end 😂
I first saw this movie at age 7, and the fight scene defined my taste in cinema for the rest of my life.
Also, Keith David has the smoothest voice on earth.
Great video as usual - keep doing what you do- Happy Holidays to you and your family and also to all subscribers- please everyone don't drink and drive- ride services are going to be cheaper than jail or death
Rowdy Roddy ou jeah. By the way, hope you are doing better Redeye my friend.
The thing ,they live and prince of darkness were supposed to be a end of the world trilogy.
Hahaha prime RedEye right here
There was a South Park episode that copied the They Live fight. It's legendary.
Bubblegum line is amazing so you're an alien if being sarcastic lol
How did I miss this one when it was posted?!?!
entertainment and charity?! shut up and take my money!
Wow! You're my first ever Super Thanks :) this is so cool. 💗
@@RedEyeReviews now we have bonded and your soul is forever mine!
Oh no it was a clever trap hidden behind an act of kindness!
Shepard Fairey saw this and thought "I can turn this message into a thing people can buy at the mall!" and all the "rebellious" teen skater kids gave him a bunch of money.
This movie is awesome 💯🔥
Stephen king has a story similar to this called the 10 o’clock people I don’t know who got it from whom.
Is that the name of a book or a short story of his? If a short story what book is it from? Thanks
Short story in the nightmares and dreamscapes collection.
@@Yojimbo-e9i cheers its appreciated
I vote to keep it going with Keith David movies...can you do Men At Work next?
You should do Frogtown something or another. Another amazing film starring rowdy roddy
Yes my guy! What a choice for a recap! Are you ever going to actually review a movie rather than recap every scene?
John Carpenter movies kicked so much ass in the 80s.
Can I recommend doing Fair game with Cindy Crawford and William Baldwin.
Did you come up with that Carmen /They Live anagram connection? That was pretty wild.
I'd love a follow up movie, one in the future where humans would've hopefully built a world-wide resistance against the aliens that can help build on lore established in the original film, like explaining more about the alien species that took over Earth and how they did it...
The plot twist (in reality) is that the humans are the villains. Even the ones who say they're for rights and speech and socialism. They don't do anything about the villains, anyway...
Not going to lie we need to bring back jumping high-fives for the boys. Also rollerblading bring back rollerblading.
You rock so much!!!
A classic which I saw on TV years ago.
it took them two weeks to choreograph that fight scene… it was very much on purpose
and long like crazy, went on and on, frankly it is terrific
The best straight up fight scene ever
I love this movie the best part is when piper makes Keith David put on the glasses and Keith doesn't want to put on the glasses🤣
Subscribed. Congrats on the charity. Good on you
I think about this film and think 2 things. 1 I LOVE RRP!! and 2 I still would have loved to the Kurt Russell version.
"Simulation" 😲
I'm trying to work out if you get way better weed then me or if you should never smoke it 🤷♂️
I've bing watched so many of your videos now, fav commentator by far.....👍👌👍
I loved this movie and i wonder why the aliens would bother buying magazines that are one sentence long I also brought a pair of these glasses looked at your website and it said you are a awesome website to watch and i took them off and it said the same? Who can argue with such honesty Ill sub like and watch all your videos glasses on or off lol Ps i wonder what it would really be like owning these I bet golf was a joke the aliens have played on us
I would ABSOLUTELY get busted in the story just like Ronnie. I would not be able to see a normal looking old lady, put on a pair of sunglasses off the shelf, and then that same old lady has no skin on her face? I would definitely be like "woah what the f is going on?" And totally blow my cover I didn't know I needed.
Actually a great concept for a film
