Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age - How to get GEMSTEEL (Tips and Tricks)

Gemsteel is one of the item required to make Ultimate Weapons like Tournesol and Kumbha. Also, it is a repeatable crafting item! This means that you can craft this item more than one time. In order to get Gemsteel from the Baazar, you need to get the next items:
1 Scarletite, 2 Damascus Steel and 2 Hell-Gate's Flame.

I remember doing this no problem in ps2.
Now I’ve spent 2hours chaining Cerberus to no avail. Still no hell gate flame with hunter monograph.

For those having trouble with the scarletite:
I'm making a route from the teleport crystal in Nabreus Deadlands to the south (The Slumbermead) going straight to Echoes of the Past. There you find the first Emeralditan. Go back to The Slumbermead and tale the west path nothwards, you'll find another one, Then finally go downwards using the east side and you find the third one.
I'm setting my gambits to attack wind-weak foes only, so I can safely chain him.
Took me about a 50 chain to drop the first scarletite. Poach is also a method to farm it, but its only 5% (6% drop with the monograph).
Dont forget to go north past the save crystal and then back to respawn all of them.

I just can't steal Scarletite from Aspidochelon (I keep stealing Hihiirokane instead) and the turtles in Nabreus never drop it. Of course I have Hunter's Monograph and Thief's cuffs equipped but I still spent 3 hours farming without success. Do I need something else? I just don't get it...

Aspidochelon looks the same to Adamantitan. Maybe you re stealing Adamantitan. Maybe you killed Aspidochelon. The only item that you can steal from Aspidochelo is Scarletite, so you re stealing the wrong enemy. It takes abit of time in Nabreus, but you need like 6 Scarletite in total.

+factor747 Nope it's Aspidochelon, I check their names every single time. I have my gambits off so I don't kill him by mistake. I just killed one rare monster and that's Talassinon.

Mmm It is strange. The trophy rare game enemies have only one item for stealing. Obviously, it is not a fast steal, so it takes time.

@factor747 - I've done the Thextera Hunt and l spoke to Gatsly and l didn't get the Hunter's Monograph at all, what did l do wrong?

you had to go back to a bazaar and you'll see that(without selling anything) there are new goods in stock
