You guys are in for a real treat if this is your first maiden song. This is middle of the road stuff for them. They are pure energy. Hallowed be thy name, live at the Hammersmith in 1982 will blow your mind. Aces high, the trooper, rime of the ancient mariner, killers, phantom of the opera, Alexander the great, the evil that men do, I could name 40 or more absolute bangers off the top of my head. They have great subject matter, history, songs based on poems, old movies. Bruce is a great story teller and the band are so talented you don't even need a vocalist. Maiden in my veins every day man!!
Bruce has retired from piloting and the 747 was leased and not owned by the band and sadly the 747 they had leased has also been retired and is no longer in sevrice!!
Elite level British metal. Their live shows are legendary, seen them many times over the years and I always left soaked in sweat, just like everyone else.
Every Iron Maiden song is very different. Their music has also changed over the decades, so it is hard to pigeon hole their music. There is also usually a certain concept behind each of their albums. You are right - the music is probably more powerful than the lyrics because these guys can really play and it is why they are so highly revered in the world of metal, with this band being among the first influences for many, regardless of the genre of metal in which they end up settling. The band is British and the members are good people with a sense of humour and good habits and mostly down-to-earth hobbies outside of their multi-millionaire rocker lifestyle. They're very clear on the fact that to put on a great performance everytime for decades, you can't go on stage drunk or strung out on drugs. There are a lot of reasons why they are one of the few bands standing since the 80s. Their performances were even more energetic when they were 40 years younger. You should check out a few more of their songs before passing any final judgement. For some reason, people in South America are really appreciative of talented musicians and rock/ metal. AC/DC also get a solid run all over South America too. They sell out just about everywhere though - Canada, Sweden, Australia etc.
You've opened a door that you'll find very hard to shut, welcome to Iron Maiden, for a "real" experience try "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" live from 666, it's a 13 minute song, have the lyrics by your side, as they are brilliant.
Welcome to the Irons. Here is the line up Steve Harris - Bass Dave Murray - Guitar Janick Gers - Guitar Adrian Smith - Guitar Nicko McBrain - Drums Bruce Dickinson - Vocals I would recommend the following - All live Hallowed Be Thy Name The Trooper Aces High Rime of The Ancient Mariner Paschendale
great reaction guys you need to check out ( hallowed be thy name ) and ( Rime Of The Ancient Mariner ) by iron maiden and yes they are english hence the union jack on every album cover and also the pausing its a little annoying so can you listen to the song without pausing it once but if you do pause at any point please rewind 5 seconds
There are Iron Maiden songs I'm sure you will have heard. A lot of their songs have historical references, and the music drives right through these epic tales. Great reaction guys. Run to the Hills would definitely go on the workout list!
More than 130 million album sales, the singer has an amazing voice and used to fly the band around the world as captain of a 747, and who can honestly say that they have never seen an Iron Maiden Tshirt ?
Yes he 100% has pipes lol, Bruce Dickinson is one of the best vocalists and front men in metal period. Dickinson is much more operatic and rangey than Hetfield (who you were discussing as Metallica’s lead singer). Also, Dickinson uses the upper part of the stage sometimes Because he tends to run around ALOT. You’re in for a good ride with more maiden, this is more of a fun live song than one of there best. A good peformance to check out is hallowed by thy name live in 1982.
The bass player has a West Ham United symbol on his instrument whose nickname or one of them is “The Irons”. Currently 9th in the Premier League and last season won a European trophy. East London went mad, the celebrations are on RUclips.
Couldn’t say that with Sabbath,Priest and Motörhead. I’d put them all on a par but Sabbath will ALWAYS be top of the pile for me. Still love Maiden though, seen them four times.
Try Aces High, The Trooper, the live 1982 Hollowed Be Thy Name, Rime of the Ancient Mariner flight 666, Revelations, Where Eagles Dare or Dance of Death En Vivo or Still Life for a few suggestions. Can give alot more.
Best live performance band I have had had the pleasure to watch, aye they are British and Bruce Dickinson is probably the best front man I have seen! Good reaction Guys
Very surprised if you have never heard an Iron Maiden song before, maybe not choosing to listen to it but in passing or by chance. They are one of the most famous metal bands in the world. They have a very recognisable sound from Steve Harris's galloping bass, which through that and/or Bruce Dickinsons vocals I can tell a song is by these guys as some of their newer stuff I haven't heard. I think one of the most impressive things about Bruce is that he is a fully qualified pilot and on numerous occasions has literally flown the band around the world on their tours in a plane they call Ed Force 1, he also beat throat cancer about 10 years ago and is still belting out the songs. Absolute Legends, so glad I have seen them live, and hope to again.
Maiden have some songs that are lyric driven, some music and some a mix. This particular song isn’t really deep on the lyrical side. They do a lot of story telling too utilizing music and lyrics to tell them. So depends on what you’re looking for, but whatever it is there’ll be something Maiden has done you’ll fall in love with. Rime of the Ancient mariner from flight 666 - over 13 minutes Hell on Earth from their latest album, slow intro/outro but has the Maiden gallop, good workout tune - over 11 mins
Just a heads up, Bruce is considered one of the best vocalist in metal history. Iron Maiden is the best live band ever. Their are one of the pioneers of Metal and are still going strong.
oh yes, these guys are indeed British. Bruce Dickinson's vocals are tremendous, his vocal range is unmatched as well as having the stamina to be running around constantly and still able to control his voice. UK's finest metal/rock metal band.
Maiden picks very interesting topics, mostly historical or featuring classic literature. Try the Rime of the Ancient Mariner from Flight 666. its based on a poem from the late 1700's from Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Great performance
With all due respect, you don´t know what you´ve been missing not hearing / watching Iron Maiden... Suggest you do next their live version of Rime of the Ancient Mariner from Flight 666 (it´s a 13 minute song). Keep going!
Check out Hallowed be thy Name live - I prefer the Flight 666 live version best, although Bruce Dickinson's vocals are probably better on the 1982 Hammersmith version. Rime of the Ancient Mariner is also a great song. Think you would appreciate both of those lyrically more. I also love The Red and the Black live version, due to the guitar solos (its a 13 minute song!), but Bruce's voice isn't great on that track.
If you want a long song, try Nightwish's The Greatest Show On Earth live at Wembley, it's about 21 minutes (and still shorter than the album track, which clocks in at 24 minutes!) and tells the story of the formation of earth and life on it.
This song is played in the middle of their live sets. Dozens of live Maiden songs you can check out that are equal to and even better than this one. IMO, the best live act ever and still going very strong in their mid-60s. Rime of the Ancient Mariner from the Flight 666 DVD is a far better song than this one and really captures the essence of a Maiden live performance.
Bruce is only behind the band because he's the most active frontman ever. Running and performing the way he does in Front of the band just wouldn't make sense. Very accomplished musicians, bass player writes the music but if Bruce is singing the focus goes on him.

Fun fact
Iron Maiden, have their own Boeing 747 aircraft, and the lead singer is a pilot and flies the aircraft.
Bruce has retired from piloting and the 747 was leased and not owned by the band and sadly the 747 they had leased has also been retired and is no longer in sevrice!!

its amazing that Iron Maiden were around in the early 1980's and doing great - and still are now!!
Iron Maiden were formed at Christmas 1975 by Steve Harris;-)

One of my fav bands of all time! Since the 80's and they still got it!
No filters just plain talent and they still do it today....no help of technology at all.
Check out their biggest “mainstream” hit - “Run to the Hills” - you might recognise it.
Not bad for a bunch of old English blokes, playing to 250,000,young non primary English speakers. They pull this sort of crowd across the world.
Arguably the best metal group of all time as you will find out if you carry on listening to their many hits
and countless songs....lol
Couldn’t say that with Sabbath,Priest and Motörhead.
I’d put them all on a par but Sabbath will ALWAYS be top of the pile for me.

Maiden has so many legendary guitar riffs
You have to do Rime of the Ancient Mariner live flight 666. It’s around 13 minutes and is one of their best

Just so you know Iron Maiden's longest album track is Empire of the Clouds from The Book of Souls 2015 album and it's length is 18:05.
Just saw them live in September. Still amazing. They're best live IMO. Check out Hallowed be thy name live version Hammersmith 1982 🤘

“Gym material”!? Lol

It at least used to be the last song of the main set before the mandatory extra numbers.

You may find this interesting, Bruce, the singer, with his other hat on , driving the 'Tour bus'.

Hi guys, good song for your first one. Try Run To The Hills, Number of The Beast or Hallowed Be Thy Name. Those are 3 of their best known songs.
One of the biggest bands of all time. I’m surprised Nick isn’t all over Maiden’s back catalogue.
One of the biggest musician. If not the biggest musician of all time..
their rime of the ancient msariner is 13 min and empire of the clouds 18 min.

My favourite live song by the irons has to be Aces High.
Always pumps me.
Cool reaction but it’s always best to listen to an entire song before evaluating.
Y'all think this is a long song? Try Dream Theater's song Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulance from their Score dvd. 42 minutes of EPICNESS!
Bruce isn't so much a front man, he's an all-over-the-place man. 😂
Please react to Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name (Live 1982) ❤
Look for the documentary FLIGHT 666 best iron maiden film and story of a band ever
Check out Pink Floyd - Sorrow, live Pulse concert 👍Starts as a gentle stream and builds to a raging torrent of pure musical overload.
I see these 14time live
Interesting synchronicity here. The lead singer is a fencer (sword fighting) and Gabe is a different sort of Fence.................
Yes, They are an English band;-)
Not many bands have a Bass and 3 Lead Guitars. You should try "The dance of death" live. UK band.
This gruop well put of today music in dusty bin
"Is this guy British?" lol

🤟🇧🇷 = Iron Maiden Show

Metallica were greatly influenced by Black Sabbath who come from the Aston Villa part of Birmingham.
Who else passed High School history thanks to Maiden?

If you want a long song, try Nightwish's The Greatest Show On Earth live at Wembley, it's about 21 minutes (and still shorter than the album track, which clocks in at 24 minutes!) and tells the story of the formation of earth and life on it.
