It's a rarity that the movie is better than the book. I read the book and saw the movie. The book was just one big gore fest, while the movie was more spiritual . A very underrated film.

Realizing that these wolves are supernatural beings they then figured out at that moment the best move was to put down their guns and destroy the model of new condominiums that would threaten the wolfen's hunting grounds. Once the wolfen saw that these two humans were no longer a threat they vanished.

You need to read the book this movie was based on, story is a lot different, but they did a decent job of putting it on the screen so the book and film are both good
Supernatural or not, the Wolfen can be killed. The humans are threatening their existence by destroying their habitat, they just didn't know or care. When the hero understands, he and his partner care. That is why the Wolfen did not kill them. The humans were no longer a threat to their existence.

TheTallMan35 makes sense why at 2:35 that wolf just magically vanished, they were supernatural.
