#IndependenceDayResurgence - Кино
Those fighters were legitimately so cool
Unfortunately the strategy in this movie cannot be described the same way
If anything, this should've been the final battle, have the Legacy Squadron fight the Harvester's mothership, while the Queen launches a separate assault on Area 51.
And, before that, have a few smaller battles here and there.
Like the worst commander in history with the best equipment to offer…
Some of the best aesthetic design work ever. The bombers look great too.
They're very beautiful
@@christophersanders3252 Super-duper B1.
Waiting 20 years for a sequel to Independence Day, and getting served this steaming pile of garbage is one of the biggest disapointments of my life.
I thought it was good. Its sucked will smith was not in it but that was will smiths fault! Screw you will smith!
I'd second that ...
@@liamloxley1222 Completely agree. If they wanted our core. They could have set up a defensive parameter, drilled, and extracted our core before anyone even understood what was happening.
They win without firing a single shot.
It was nonsense. I did however like the re-imagined washington, DC. But that was about it.
are any of you on this thread a director, producer, actor, ect???
@@jacksullivan6468 I don't need to be one to criticize a movie. Heck, they would be more bias to give them a good review. I own them NOTHING.

@Firefox13A ah, thank you for the spell check lol.
Pacific rim and Independence day was my favorite sci-fi film.
And I have wished that, both should never had a sequel.
Thats so f*cking true
actually without the pacific rim sequal we would have never had pacific rim the black, which is pretty good for a netflix show.
i honestly think that this movie would've been better off in a seperate franchise interly, it's own in my opinion. it had potential and lots of it honestly. the tech was interesting, and the idea itself was amazing, an story to tell honestly. i would've honestly watched movies comprised of these exact scenes, sadly i know that this is supposed to be an remake of I-day, when watching this. just the classic hollywood blockbuster flaws made it an plotless sinful mess, but i honestly think that the story of this movie had potential.
and what i mean exactly is.
the first original I-day was an story about an alien race invanding earth, and destroying iconic landmarks, and such. there were many message within it, but at it's heart it was just that, an alien movie.
and what i mean with the potential the sequel had, was just the universe it created with the lore beheind the aliens, the fallen worlds, humanity as a whole after this attack.
it could've honestly been another iconic new-time franchise.
(sadly thats never gonna be lol, really sad tho, wish i could see more of these scenes in movies that are there own
and to really visually represent my thoughts. 3:19, if u see that sequence, do u think of indenpendence day.
In my opinion I like resurgence and uprising
Even if you dislike the film can we agree, that the vehicle design was awseome? Especially the moon tug and the bombers.
The moon tug was nice, though the bombers were just B1 Lancers with beefed up engines.
I never had a problem with the look and design. Not much of a solace in this catastrophe of a film but yes, the ships are cool.
The mothership's main energy cannon is especially cool when its charging up to fire
@@chrysecreative5575 I think that's why they look so good. The jets have a lot of advanced technology, but they designed them to resemble modern aircraft because that's what everyone's used to.

It's not like we already did this to them once anyway. It's a completely new tactic!

Lol same reason why main characters usually dont wear helmets in medieval themed movies
The face is everything for actors.
it's a me, mario
The writers really dropped the ball, they didn't need to make the stakes any higher, all we needed was to see round 2 of what happened in the first movie. Except this time the virus wouldn't be an option and instead humanity would have to fight it out the regular way

"Yeah"
"Let's do it again"
The next step up to fighters and small craft would be something along the lines of Raiders, Frigates and Tactical Escorts, like a Klingon B'rel Bird-of-Prey, the Romulan T'varo Light Warbird, and a Federation Defiant-Class Tactical Escort (ships along the sizes of the ones listed). I'm using Star Trek and Star Trek Online references, btw.
I would think that the firepower of a Klingon Bird-of-Prey (Disruptor Dual Heavy Cannons) would have a little more punch than what a fighter would have. They'd have a bit more range than the fighters, and could take out those massive turrets. Plus, the ships mentioned would also carry shields strong enough to tank the turrets for at least 3 minutes. Larger ships (such as the cruisers), unfortunately, would be too big to enter the atmosphere to engage the colony ship.
Unfortunately, this is treading into cross-universe territory. With that being said, I would love to imagine the USS Defiant diving in and doing a full Phaser Quad Cannon barrage as it flies by the turrets, and evades the majority of the plasma bolts fired at her.
you wanted them to attack with tanks lol

How was that a trap? That was just a defense system.
Thank you. Hollywood does not know the difference.
The trap was luring them in to catch all the bombers in one swoop and disable them, and block the bombs in their own shielded envelopes. You saw, all the landed craft that were just sitting there doing nothing and they just LET them come in close.
@@Piemur1 A trap is intentionally deceptive. A defensive system is just that, defensive, which by definition is something you expect from someone you're attacking. If you break into someone's house and they shoot you, it's not a trap. Likewise, you go into a fully operational enemy base and get shot by the guard, you weren't trapped, you just weren't prepared.
If the Emperor deliberately let you know the location of 2nd Death Star and have a huge fleet waiting for you, only then you can shout "IT'S A TRAP !!"
@@whatevera5998 yes, this was just "let's charge the front gate without any cover then act surprised that they had a defense system.

alien technology is so advanced that their queen decided to run after a school bus
While I’ll admit this film had NOTHING on the original, I still liked it, mainly for the fact that THIS wave was a proper MILITARY wave of Aliens, whereas the one in the first movie was just a mining ship.
This is illustrated by the more advanced tech, greater display of military force, and the overall smart design of simply having point defence guns on your capital ship. This latter point is what hits it home for me, as a kid I never questioned why the city destroyers in the first movie didn’t have point defence guns to shoot down the planes, instead relying solely on their attack fighters to counter the planes. As an adult, and an avid player of Stellaris, I now know how important point defence is for capital ships, and it boggled my mind, after rewatching the first film, that they didn’t have point defence on the big ships… I mean, that’s like, military design 101.
So the idea that the first wave was just a mining group, and not actually expected to go up against a credible military threat, makes so much sense, and fixes that plot hole for me. So yea, the first Independence Day will always be superior in my eyes, to this, but I can at least appreciate this film’s attempt at expanding the lore and filling in gaps from the first film.
There was a deck cannon on the D.C city destroyer that destroyed the Welcome Wagon in the first movie, but as you said, the aliens in the first movie was just a reconnaissance/mining op, and thus brought the bare minimum, but seeing how well Mankind fought back, they took it as a literal threat, and prepped for retaliation with an actual fighting force.
I WANT to like this movie and I dig how each side faces off stronger than before, but it feels rushed and Ike a video game.
Wrong. This is supposed to be the mining ship, the one in the first film was the military.
@@buragi5441 pretty sure the one in THIS film is the military ship, I’m almost certain it’s brought up at one point in this film, that the ones who came before were not outfitted for extensive combat, and so only had the bare minimum of military equipment, a far cry from this ship, with point defence guns.
@@commandercritic9036 Probably because they didnt attack the mothership in the first movie, so we dont know if that one had defenses too. Remember in the first movie the City Destroyers were the ones being attacked by the humans, but the mothership was in orbit. In this one, it's the mothership the one that descended to the planet.
@@Saiyan0X hmmm, okay you have a point, but I would say the very reason that the first mothership DIDN’T descend to the planet’s surface is yet MORE proof that the first wave was a mining expedition (with military personnel along for the ride). And even if that was NOT the case, it is clear the first mothership was more vulnerable than the second, being a different design, so even if it was military the two waves had different strategies.
The first was patient and calculating, aligning everything up just perfectly, before a sudden and decapitating strike, designed to cripple the leadership of the natives. But for this strategy to work, you need to hit lots of different places at once across the globe, so a single ship isn’t gonna cut it. So instead, the mothership releases a multitude of smaller vessels (which also happen to be the vessels they’ll use to mine later, I mean, make the most out of what you have am I right), to carry out the individual strikes. As David explains in the first movie however, this requires that all the ships be able to communicate with each other, even on opposite sides of the globe. The Mothership is the hub for this communication, the aliens hijack our satellites, sending messages up to them, which are then forwarded to the Mothership, which sends them on to a different satellite, so as to reach the intended recipient of the message.
There’s a fatal flaw in this strategy however. If anything happens to the Mothership, all of the City Destroyers are suddenly cut off from one another on a hostile planet, which of course is exactly what happens, and as a result, the remaining City Destroyers turtle up and begin calling for help. With this is mind, it makes a lot of sense, for the first Mothership to stay in orbit, where its more difficult, if not IMPOSSIBLE for the Natives to reach it, I mean, why risk dangling your Achilles Heel where the enemy can strike it? Knowing this, it’s then logical to assume, that because this PARTICULAR force of these aliens, specialise in a strategy that keeps the Mothership out of harms way, it wouldn’t normally need Point Defence, and we don’t really see any evidence for such weapons while following David and Steven (Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith’s characters respectively) through the Mothership.
This however STILL does not explain why the CITY DESTROYERS did not have point defence, if they were part of a MILITARY expedition, ESPECIALLY if their the ones taking the risk of putting themselves in the hostile territory.
Now the second Mothership, has a completely different strategy, bold, blunt and to the point, “YOUR PLANET BELONGS TO ME NOW!” There’s no careful alignment of assets, no meticulous plan, it’s just get in, kill everything. The second wave doesn’t even have multiple ships, just one great BIG one, so now, it makes sense to have a lot of armour, and other defences to protect the ship at all costs, since it’s going to be in the firing line.
Don’t get me wrong, your point is valid, but even if the first wave was military, surely there’d be evidence of more active defences like point defence on the Mothership (for what we are shown in the first movie, there is very clearly none), and at the very LEAST there should be point defence on the CITY DESTROYERS, the ones who are in the most danger. The fact that we don’t see any of that, suggests the aliens are either SUPREMELY arrogant, and rely far too much on their shields and overwhelming fighter numbers… or… the first wave WASN’T military.
The queen brought her A game but lost to plot armor. But to be honest I love the mothership.

Yeah. This could've been a decent sequel if released between 1997 to 2000.
Hell, it could've worked at his time with some small tweaks, even if Will Smith said no:
-Jake's character should've been David's son. To swap the roles of the action duo in the next generation.
-A way longer battle for the Moon, still ending in Earth's defeat.

This is a bunch of video game CGI.
The explosions in the first movie: cities, fighters, planes, were all EXTREMELY satisfying.
the main mistake made in this battle wasn't the fact that they attacked head on, it was the fact that despite every fighter and bomber presumably having a fusion drive, they didn't use them to travel to the giant ship any quicker. they could've had an advantage or even won the battle because of the element of surprise
