Hi, I'm Ashni!! I've been on #Twitch since 2013 and because of my amazing friends, I went full-time in 2015. I was terrible at it. And one day my sponsor called me on Skype and said: "There will be a lot of people who make it on Twitch, but it will never be you." So I stopped and learned as much as I could. Now I make content to help other streamers pursue their dreams and learn to stream, because he was right. There will be a lot of people who make it. And I'm going to help them.
I am now a professional #StreamCoach, full-time content creator, and Twitch Partner. The #YamFam is our community of streamers who are linking arms to take over the world. 😈 I also love business, travel, plants, and puppies.

Between your advice, setting goals using research, streaming around my schedule, and support on Twitch... I finally made it to affiliate! Thank you!
My big thing now is creating goals that are easy to follow (so i'll do them) and bit by bit add to big goals. With Twitch, I do agree that consistency helps (game I play, when i stream). My time is Maximized by pre-planning. As you mention time and time again, it's imperative to provide value, and doing that takes :: gasp :: ... effort.
    Thanks again!

The scarcity thing is absolutely true. Life ended up getting in the way of my streaming, and after 4 years on Twitch, I had to drop it for survival. Still ended up coming back for a stream once every 2 months or so, and on each stream, I was breaking 30 concurrent viewers, where my average while I was streaming consistently was HALF of that.
Great info. Especially on leveraging other platforms. My challenge is that I'm a published fantasy author as my main brand (still haven't rebranded my RUclips) and I have to figure out how to make valuable content in regards to writing fantasy on both RUclips and Twitter. I think RUclips will be easy. Twitter is the tough one. I can't think of what I'd be posting even once a week on Twitter, let alone seven times a week.

Really great advice! Especially on Twitter! I really need to watch your first 1K video! All three work as a balance and can help you grow! However, I think you may underestimate the power of the platform Tiktok, as I have been posting edited clips on twitch onto there and it has gained much more traction than twitter for me, and numerous people told me they came to my twitch streams from Tiktok. Maybe that’s a video idea for the future? Whether Tiktok is becoming a platform to help grow on Twitch? Regardless, fantastic video with great insight as always! Can’t wait to see more!

I'm partnered on Twitch, but since starting RUclips a year ago I've fallen in love with it.
I get Twitch followers and new viewers consistently from RUclips while Twitch can be a 4 hour stream with 0-2 followers and little retention.
I love how RUclips keeps showing my content to new people all the time. I'm small on RUclips, but videos I posted 2 weeks plus ago still get consistent views every day. It is great advertisement for my content, and RUclips content feels so much more rewarding.

So I have a question about my RUclips channel, which I've had for over 6 years and is exclusively board game playthroughs . . . On Twitch (been on for a year now, affiliated and getting about 5 viewers a stream and no growth for months) I play video games and do short story readings for a total of 3 times a week - set schedule. Since the categories are totally different from my RUclips to my Twitch, do I start a whole new RUclips account or just mention my Twitch Streams more on my existing content of board games . . . I kinda don't want to be running 2 RUclips channels, Twitch and Twitter as well as my job and also primary care giver. Any suggestions on this situation? @@IronworkerGaming No I havent yet, but I will when my channel is bigger (still starting out). The thing is, YT Live doesnt really provide good discoverability as of right now. In my opinion its a bit crap, specially if you are NOT a gaming streamer (which i am not). YT have been working on streaming for gamers a bit the last 6 months, so I'd say it might work. But YT have said that they are focusing on Live streaming in 2020, so i believe big changes are coming, which Devin Nash also has predicted - so im going to wait for the rework. Then you have uploads + streams in one place, which sounds magical to me. My money is on YT for the longrun :)

tbh, nowdays I feel like tiktok is one platform you could use to grow your twitch as well, I've seen tiktok do so many good things for new streamers, small businesses etc. I know how to edit videos so youtube isn't a problem, but twitter makes me confused and idek what content to make on such a platform. But with tiktok you just randomly pop up in their FYP and they watch it... or they watch the first 3 seconds of it, so having something attention grabbing the first 3-5 seconds is key. And it's so easy to follow and like a video on tiktok and the more who like your video the more your videos will show up to others. But at the same time twitter is important, I post a little here and there, interact and comment to support other streamers, and that's what pushed me to affiliate, but I wanna make small videos that people can relate to or laugh to because that's what I do best. So deff look at what you can bring to the table, what platform you know the most about, but also try to be a little active at the important platforms as twitter during the week but mainly focus on twitch, youtube and tiktok/twitter (or both).

Awesome video! My struggle is that my upload simply is not great. 2.6m upload, below the minimum. I have to stream in 480p. I enjoy streaming, but its definitely a struggle when people who pop in don't stay because I cant stream in maximum quality. I started doing youtube, and I think I enjoy that more. Because it may take awhile to upload, but I can upload in 1080. :)

If your stream cant be high quality, I'd focus more on RUclips tbh

@@ashnichrist Yeah its why i decided to get into youtube more. I am preferring it tbh. Twitch works on games like TFT where the pixels barely change, but games like Valorant... its like watching minecraft but Valorant if you know what I mean. lol.

So I honestly don't promote with RUclips,Twitter,Twitch I know it's a smart thing to do so this video is really awesome! My biggest issue is I'm random I'm torn between my love for jrpgs, horror games, and this basketball game nba2k20 these communities never translate well my viewership goes all over the place. Idk what to do. I enjoy all three styles of games and they bring me joy and each makes me want to play the other! So my question for you is do I just keep going until my community begins to take on my characteristics?

Yeah just do all 3. See which topic gets you the most response and double down on that one.

Would you say that using both RUclips and Twitch will work together well even if your content is vastly different on both?

How vastly different are we talking? I bet you could inject parts of them into both.

What about facebook?seems like a hotspot now days and i see small streamers get thousands of follows and views, actually pretty fast..but also, all those people are streamimg the same game and doing the same thing "cod warzone ",seems like the most demanded game alive..how to set apart from that into a different game seems to be pretty hard too

I’m about to hut affiliate and every stream I’m averaging about 4-5 viewers. Which I need 3 viewer average to hit affiliate and I’m almost there. Is it bad that I’m streaming everyday just until I hit affiliate so my average viewership keeps climbing? I’m 2 out of 3 right now. I don’t plan to stream every single day, it’s simply a way for me to hit affiliate and I’m currently working on my new YT channel so there will definitely be new content.

Bummer, between work and family obligations, I have carved out exactly 5.5hr/week for streaming, always first thing in the morning when I get home from my night shifts. 1.5hr each Tue/Thur where I'm more focused on the content, and longer 2.5hr on Fri for more of a chat and hang out stream. 3hr streams are not remotely feasible. I'm super lucky to get the 2.5hr on Fridays. :(

What if you want to grow on twitch but on YT you wanna create something totally different? Like for me I want to stream games but create cooking videos on YT. I was thinking on basing the food from games or anime. I think I get the general idea of how to smoothly plug in my twitch.

People could ask you questions about your yt vids live on twitch.

so I have been watching a lot of your videos lately, as well as Alpha Gaming and I've worked a lot on my stream, shall we call it, stuff. That is, my panels, my layout and all that. the only thing left for me now is to find a schedule that fits me best. I'm thinking, 3-4 hour duration, 3 times a week is more than enough. I want to have the weekend off, so friday, Saturday and Sunday are out, I'm thinking, Monday, Tuesday/Wednesday and Thursday. Being a sports idiot doesn't help with this, because I watch football (soccer) on either of those 2 evenings, the thing is, it changes, sometimes its tuesday and sometimes it's wednesday (its actually both, but I only watch my team) and so, I would like to have that day off. I could also just stream later or earlier on those days, but I feel like the time of day needs to be consistant. Maybe Sunday works. need to figure it out. at first I thought I could just tweet out something if that one tuesday or wednesday isn't good for me, but that doesn't work if my followers don't also follow me on twitter, so I scrubbed that idea.
that's my only problem right now, when to stream, so once I figure that out I'll start streaming again. I haven't streamed in months, I'm looking forward to restarting. I also need time to record youtube videos, edit things and post them to youtube, I want to do that too. so I think I'll upload videos once a week like you suggest. need to figure that out too. I wanna start next month so I have a little over a week to figure all this out.
I tweeted my links on twitter once and then I pinned it to the top of my profile. that way I don't have to tweet it out daily. Twitter was something I used very rarely, I don't really like that platform, I'm a facebook person, I made a facebook page about my steam, so I used that one much more than twitter, which I see now was a mistake. but I did make a twitter for things that required it, so I'm gonna use it more, even if I peronally don't like it. might make a discord at some point should I get a large enough community that is interested in that sort of thing.
