I got stuck on two rides at Islands of adventure on the same day (spent 3 hours total stuck) they didnt give us anything for waisted time.

As someone who used to work there I can say that is true 😂 trust me I thought it was bs too. People who get stuck on rides deserve more.
I didn’t realize it was even possible to unbuckle your seatbelt DURING the ride. That’s really scary actually. How or why that lady did that is beyond me.

It locks anyway, the seatbelt is just there as a precaution
You can on any ride in the world, however a seatbelt is unimportant. It's only there to give the riders a higher perceived level of safety. In reality, the buckle does NOTHING and adds practically zero additional safety. You physically can't undo your restraint however. Once locked, it's locked until you either manually pull the pins from the back of each car, or pass electricity (as in this case) through the hydraulic cylinders of the restraints.
Wow, imagine if that was possible to do while being UPSIDE DOWN. They need better safety standards, no wonder people are terrified to go on these things.

The most terrifying part would be basically lying back at that depth and that height then having to stand on the roller coaster viewing the height you are at.

At my local park, you can actually pay for coaster tours where they take you to the top of the lift hill and let you walk around.
@Jack Walker it sucks! I love MF, got 'stuck' on it twice, 5 minutes was the longest and it's hella uncomfortable because I couldn't lean back in the seat, I was trying to sit upright coz it was freaky being stuck that high. Not sure what the issue was but it started up again
If anyone is scared of rollercoasters, keep in mind you have a 1000X higher chance of getting in a fatal car crash going to the amusement park compared to the chances of dying on a rollercoaster. Reliable rollercoasters are some of the safest places on Earth.

Most roller coaster accidents are just an uncomfortable to moderately painful jolt without any injuries. The worst coaster accident happened at Alton towers even there were no fatalities or serious injuries. It was extremely preventable and the ride op should’ve been sued as a result of the incident instead of just being terminated.
Yeah but a stoppage on a roller coaster is much more likely due to these safety systems … and hanging upside down for half a day may actually FEEL worse than a fatal crash - let’s be honest 😂
@@topherd1011 getting stuck upsidown on a rollercoaster is nearly physically impossible on all coasters due to the profiling of the track and weight distribution of the trains on the track. Over 100+ years of rollercoasters, this has only happened about less than 10 times, all in foreign countries where unreliable manufacturers don’t take into consideration possible weight balancing issues when inverting.
And no - a safety system will not stop a train unless at a block brake stopping point.

yea, one day at six flags great adventure, I was marathoning nitro and on our last ride we got stuck. We waited 2 hours, six flags did nothing but say sorry, and one of the employees gave me a handshake 😎

Mad respect to the engineers who got everyone down safely from that ride...could you imagine taking off your seat belt at that step of an incline about 200 feet from solid ground and the only thing holding you is a malfunction
they were fantastic. it was a pretty scary experience though!!
Actually it's not a malfunction. The ride did its job and stopped because somebody had their seatbelt off. It is meant to be able to stop on a dime before the drop
Roller coaster lift hils have an anti-rollback system that locks the train in place, even if the lift cable were to break, the anti-rollback racks (the toothed strips you can see on the lift hill) only allow the train to move forward. The trains have palls underneath them that ride on top of them while the train id being hoisted to the top, but if the train stops moving these palls fall into the gaps between the teeth on the anti-rollbacks.

Cedar Point really cares about their guest experience... going to great lengths to ensure guests safety first and satisfaction second. Props to CP for continued excellent service, dedication to their guests, and attention to detail.
They are the best!!! I love Cedar Point so much. Best overall amusement experience by far!!!
That is great but it makes financial sense too. If riders get hurt then there are headlines. Less people are going to want to go there. Plus the lawsuits.
So although it seems all great that they care it isn't like they don't benefit big time for caring. I guess you can say they go about it the right way.

“Not so smart” lady was a very KIND way to describe her. When the ride is moving, it’s too late to back out. It’s pretty impressive that their coaster is THAT sophisticated! Didn’t know that was a thing! Just gained even MORE respect for Cedar Point; they’ve NEVER disappointed us!

@@jayhergen So they unbuckled the seatbelt, not the Lap Bar. The seatbelt is under the bar and is just there as an extra precaution, mainly to make people feel more safe. The lap bar is what is actually holding them in and can not be undone.
Well technically, they will be fine because seatbelts on coasters are useless.

I would have died. I almost pissed myself when we were stopped on the lift hill for Nitro at Great Adventure. It’s was awful all I saw were cops and security guards running. I thought we were gonna die. Turns out there was a full on brawl in the line so the operator stopped the ride.😩🤣🤣
The ride is not in motion at this point so it doesn’t matter so much.

This was a really cool video, I'm kinda glad they were able to respond like that. In 2006, my wife and I got stuck on Splash Mt. at Disneyland for a mechanical problem. We got escorted through the hallways behind the scenes, which looked just like a regular office building, and they gave us a one free fast pass. Wish I lived closer to Cedar Point!

That woman taking off her seat belt reminds me when I was on the Giant Dipper at Belmont Park in San Diego, this woman was recording with a GoPro, and she was asked to put it away. She did, until the train started going up the lift hill, Then she went one better & took out a selfie stick she was hiding in her shirt, somehow, and the train was stopped. Her membership supposedly got cancelled, she got banned from the park, got trespassed, & got taken out by security. She shouted "I WILL SUE!", and dropped an f bomb. Some GP are just *the worst*. Praises go to the operators who work their jobs and have to deal with this every now and then.

I knew Millennium was steep but this video gives a whole new perspective to just how steep that hill is. I couldn't imagine trying to get out of that seat like that. Thank goodness all the times I've been on it this has never happened

Yes we did, It was the Tower of
Terror ride and we got stuck going up. Only waited for about 15 mins before all the lights came on and cast members escorted us out.

This actually makes me feel a lot better about a stoppage on the climb anyway… I thought I’d be expected to walk those steps and with my great debilitating fear of heights - that would be impossible. You better send a real burly man that can carry my arse 😂
There are no steps on MF, it's just a track for the bucket to go up. The steps are at the top of the hill and over the crest for maintenance to push the reset button for it to run. If the button isn't pushed, MF won't run

Oh my god yes. I never even thought about that. I would have loved to be close to her to see her reaction or here her talk. I was close to the back she was close to the the front and mille has some pretty long trains.
They probably made her get off last 😭😭 She would have gotten the evil stare from me the ENTIRE 90 minutes. AND whomever she rode with.....even if it was a kid! 😭😂🤣😭😂

Around 16 years ago, I got stuck on the Wild Thing at Valleyfair (also a Cedar Fair park) for about 30 minutes. Instead of the lift hill it was a malfunction at the mid course break run. Not really sure what caused it, but I'm not great with heights so being stuck that long was a bit unpleasant. Luckily no evacuation was necessary, but in your case you seem much braver than I would be. In the end, our compensation was a 2nd round on the Wild Thing. Not only that, but about a year later the coaster derailed on one side completely due to a break malfunction.. go figure.

@@TylerCocci I got stuck on a water slide because the water system on the slide I was on shut down and it was a fully covered one so everything was black, but the theme parks manager was extremely kind so they gave us a 1 year free pass to the theme park

Also the reason it has a lift and not catwalk steps is because it's so tall. Just imagine the number of steps there would be and the amount of oomph required to walk up (and down) them, plus the time that would take. 😛

It was actually the safety system stopping it but it was like millinium force. Got stuck while starting it up again. Apperently, it was another train in the block in fromt of us but it didnt start again
I’m pretty sure ours was something similar (for the reason they could not get it going again)

I got stuck in the Maverick tunnel in 2017 and got evacuated! That was pretty cool. I got an exit pass afterwords!

@@TylerCocci I’m not actually afraid of heights funny enough. Well, kind of. I got dizzy on the Eiffel Tower. But I absolutely love planes. Lmao I have a paradoxical relationship with heights. But roller coasters going uphill is a no go for me.

Edit: two guys actually jumped off the same day I went. But it was after we left, thankfully. I’ll always wonder how they managed to climb that high over the fence without being stopped

@@TylerCocci dark... it was a rainstorm that was causing a flash flood so when they drained the water we got stuck. It was jurassic park at universal studios Singapore

They did you way better than us when we got stuck on Maverick for over 30 mins. Only got a single exit pass and it couldn't be used on SV, although we weren't evac'd, just stuck on the break run for about 35 mins before they got us back in.
Yeah I think that was a little different. Different guest services people, different treatment. Guess they dont have like some procedure haha

I will never forget my when I got stuck on a drop ride going up half way then it just stopped. It was only 10 minutes but seemed like forever.

I almost went back that day as we had season passes. Something came up and wasn't able to. At the time it was my favorite ride so 100 percent chance I would have rode it the day of.

It's a former ride operator at a different perk, I always wondered how the milineum force did their standard evacuation procedure. Thanks for the video. I was once stuck on gatekeeper for maybe about a half hour and was given couple managery exit passes that got me quickly on to top thrill

I worked on the cedar point railroad for a long time and the millennium force was a super cool coaster in its day. It still is super cool and aged great.

I had to evacuate corkscrew at the end of the ride and had to walk to the station.. that was only about 40 feet high or so and it scared me. I give you and everyone else props
Insane how much stuff they gave you. I was just at IOA and waited four hours for hagrids, park had closed while we were still in line and it broke down. When they made to call to shut it down they gave me one single use express pass. That was good for that day. The park was closed.

lol, reading the comments, I have road coasters for years, including this ride, front car, no hands, and have always unbuckled my seatbelt, it only adds to the thrill.....

well, i am going to cedar point next week for the first time and my sister has been there before and she was on this ride and said it was really fun so hopefully nothing bad will happen to any rides because i'm looking foward to this ride
