Where is the cost of *ISBN and Copyrights,* you never mentioned them at all?
Purchasing a pack of 10 ISBN costs over $200 if I am not mistaken. _Could you kindly clarify it, please?_ Shall be grateful for your reply. _Thank you!_

Thanks for sharing this! So insightful
My philosophy on cost is that I should make back my investments within one month of publication, so that the book begins to turn a profit. I track hours worked on each book so that I can make sure I'm getting "paid" for my time spent in addition to money spent. ROI is so important💜

Agreed on the need for a Copyedit. I've published two nonfiction books with commercial publishers and have been involved in writers critique groups for years. This time around I've decided to self-publish a novel. After much mental hand-wringing, I selected a one man editorial service and he did a good job. Interestingly, his fee was $1,200, right in line with what you paid. So, I feel much better now. Thank you.

I've been toying with the idea of forming a street team for my debut novel I'm hoping to release later this year. I've heard other authors give incentives to attract people to sign up in exchange for spreading word about their books, but I don't know what to offer since I'm a debut. I think giving away free ebooks sounds like an amazing idea for something, but I don't think that would work for me now.

if you intend to be a serious writer the first thing you need to teach yourself is how to be your own developmental editor. It requires being objective. It requires learning to cut things that you like. And honestly... it is something most young amatuer writers NEVER learn to do. It is harder than it looks, but it is a necessary skill to have.

I uploaded it and ordered a hard cover through Blurb, its 80 pages and high definition photos (it's an art/teaching book with photos of my paintings). I paid $91 to have the proof book published with highest quality pages and hard cover. I feel that the price may be too high for me to sell? Just so many questions when your trying to first publish.
